It is a little cramped, but when you gotta get gas.. where do ya go? The lay out is very simple and like most Safeways. One side has the produce the other had the Deli. The Bakery is located next to the Deli... and everybody is so helpful! The bakery is always so gorgeous! They have a case set up with gorgeous, extravagant looking cakes and then some set up outside the case to grab & go. Don't be afraid to ask them to write on your cake! It's free for that special moment! The bakery tables extended toward the back of the store.. they have a large variety of baked goods set up for any occasion. Gorgeous!! I like the selections for the hot case. Hot food in an instant! I like their fried chicken.. I could eat that for days!! They do an amazing job keeping everything clean & welcoming & fresh! Starbucks is just a few steps away. They are always working hard & fast. My favorite barista, Rhapsody, always makes my drinks too perfection. I got to talk with Esmeralda, in the floral department. She was working hard helping customers and putting together arrangements... she handed off a beautiful arrangement to a customer and he was so happy... It made me happy seeing someone leave with a beautiful work of art. Everything in between is simple to find and well organized. I love coming to Safeway because the interaction with the employees is quality service. They are more genuine and I feel like I could make friendships vs. just being a passing by customer that is here daily.

It's hard to explain how cool this little grocery is. I made it here by happenstance. I was…read moreMabton-bound on the 4th of July (Yup, that's right. Mabton's gangsta firework show can hold its own to any big city fireworks!). There was a "big" grocery store just off the small highway, but I decided to drive a block or two into "downtown" Mabton, and happened upon Su Mercadito. This grocery is like taking a trip to Mexico. Situated in a fairly old building on "Main Street Mabton", this is a tiny store, but it has un corazón grande. In this tiny space, there is so much packed in. Sensory overload is definitely on the menu when you walk around. HEARING: There was Mexican music blaring on the speakers (Love it). SIGHT: There are so many items and colors for one to look at here. I could have spent an hour here in this tiny shop, but I didn't want to be one of "those" gringos! SMELL: There was a small carniceria (meat shop) inside here along with a tub of oysters near the entrance, and they smelled fresh. TOUCH: Although I was clearly a stranger here, I felt pretty welcome by the other customers and the staff here. TASTE: Didn't taste anything until later, but I should say that the cans of Tecate and the habenero chips were party hits. So yes, as I walked in the grocery, I was surprised by the amount of people in this small out of the way store. I made a bee-line for the freezer in the back (grabbed a 12-pack of Tecate for $12). While cerveza shopping, piñatas swung in the breeze above me. I liked how most of the products on the shelves were in Spanish. As I was checking out, the woman at the register talked to me in Spanish, and I had to reply in English. She smiled and then switched to English, too. (man, it should be illegal for me to not know Spanish at my age!). She was very nice and helpful. She even translated the name of the store: Su Mercadito :::: "Your Little Store" * * And I'm glad it is
