Update: I'm knocking off another star for online ordering. I ordered a hard-to-find item which their online system said they had in stock. I ordered it for pickup today, they charged my card, and confirmed the order. Then a few minutes later they texted and said they did not have it after all. Grrrr! read more

The deli has lost or forgotten my order twice in the last month. Things happen but the attitude of the staff was poor.

This Safeway is of an older design and could use a bit of freshening up. But at the time of my visit it was clean, the shelves were fully stocked and the employees were fast and friendly ready to help. I go to Safeway when I don't want to deal with the crowds of people at the other more popular grocery stores. The prices are fairly similar and with less people, the aisles are easier to navigate. read more

Worked here for a couple of weeks. Great store, but manager, Cheyenne is very unprofessional, and the corporate phone system is useless. Someone randomly was able to get through to corporate (as I was told) and said I smelled like alcohol. I have a condition called "Ketone" disease where I don't process carbohydrates well, so one of the symptoms are that your breath and sweat can smell like alcohol. They sent me home and have refused to call me back to verify if I even have a job anymore. They even blocked my number when I tried to contact them This is a very disconcerting and incredibly poor representation of the company. Safeway/ Albertsons seriously needs to focus their eyes on this location as they are setting themselves up for potential lawsuits read more

The pharmacy is great always helpful and never leaves you waiting long if they can help it.

This is not a good store, especially the deli. I was checking out in line and the cashier asks me how I am feeling. I should have responded. I am feeling like you are asking me a very personal question and its none of your business. THis is the worst Safeway in the US...don't go there! read more

I accidentally left a bottle of spray n wash and management was very helpful. Mike the manager was very polite and allowed me to go back and pick up a new one. Thank you Safeway. Cheyenne, in the deli, is a wonderful person to deal with. Some people just get it. She certainly understands what customer service is all about. I feel so comfortable coming to her with my needs. I guess the best example would be, you know when you want to ask someone a question and it would be OK if they said no? Well, I feel like sometimes I have to ask her those questions but I never feel anxious around her. I can tell she is there to help me. Her coworkers are watching, and smiling, as she helps me so they are experiencing, learning and joining in, it just seems to grow. It is not possible to terminate an online account with Safeway. They provide NO means, whatsoever. Once you create the account you will receive an endless stream of unwanted emails. They REFUSE to stop sending them. I have tried more than 5 times to stop the SPAM, but it cannot be done. They cannot be contacted other than by telephone. That does not work for me. They claim to have delivery services, but I have NEVER been able to find an available time or day for either pick up or delivery. DO NOT FALL FOR IT. Their delivery offering is a scam to get you to create an account, and if you fall for it, you are trapped for life. read more

The employees are friendly and helpful, which is a relief since this location doesn't have any self-checkout stations. The produce is fresh, and I never seem to be there when the store is crowded. I'm usually at that other chain grocery store instead, but don't hesitate to drive over to Safeway to hunt down a good deal or an elusive ingredient (e.g., frozen artichoke hearts - they've got 'em!). read more

We had an unfortunate series of events at the deli. A regular sandwich cost $5.49 per the menu. My wife asked if they could make her half a sandwich (which other Safeway's do) and they said no problem. We received the sandwich and the bar code that was printed up reflected $5.49. We asked the deli manager if it can be changed because I'm sure it was an oversight and she replied that "half a sandwich is $5.49 and a whole sandwich is $8.99". There is literally one price on their menu. It reads "regular sandwich $5.49". There is no mention of a "whole" sandwich. Also, if you order a sandwich from any sandwich place ever the price reflects a whole sandwich. Our concerns fell on deaf ears (through 3 levels of management) until Greg (head cashier of self checkout) seemed genuinely concerned. He rectified our situation by comping our sandwiches but by apologizing on behalf of Safeway over and over. If it weren't for Greg this post would be even more negative. read more

The way you walk through the rustic walkways of safeway remembering when your vains were coursing with vigor and honesty and you could get an Arizona iced tea for $.99. Now its $3.20. Life is ephemeral, yet we must take time and enjoy telling a circumbendibus story or taking a lethargic walk through a graveyard. Smell the aging $2.50 avocados, hold the $5.99 day-old soup closely, or maybe explore the $13.50 chicken, lathered with fake food-coloring to make it more appealing. Store checker at self serve was not wearing a mask. The registers are very sensitive and clerk had to assist us and he was not happy about it. Clerk who may have been store manager was rude and said the issue was my thee year old grand daughter. I won't be back. read more

Have rarely gone in the 20 yrs I have lived here, ( only in an pinch) as I think their prices are higher than the competition. As I passed their "Masks Required" sign, I found that 4 of the 8 people I encountered were not wearing masks. They need to enforce their sign, will not be back. read more

This store is nicely laid out and has a good selection of things I'm looking for. However, when you get to the front they always seem to be understaffed and the lines are extra long! This situation is aggravated because they don't have self checkout. read more

S***way I've never been so consistently let down by multiple visits to a neighborhood, large chain grocery store. The produce department is the absolute worst in Lafayette/Erie, with rotten, wrinkled vegetables and fruit littering the entire section; lack of adequate stock; and lack of employees to help. Further, there is a lack of attention to detail and zero visibility of adequate management (managers are usually too busy bagging groceries to help anyone with a legitimate question, concern or complaint). Hint to management: hire someone to bag the groceries so you can MANAGE THE STORE. The one star above goes to the great team in the bakery, who consistently bake excellent breads. The other star is for the meat department, which is always well-stocked and populated with employees who can actually help (and are willing to do so). Safeway regional management, take note: you don't spend enough time fixing this store's problem, or perhaps even noticing them, and it shows. You know things are bad when Wal-mart's grocery is noticeably better. read more

Although the grocery side of this Safeway is halfway decent, the pharmacy is appalling. Never have I ever been so disrespected by two staff members who were so unwilling to assist a patient in pain. Snarky comments, attitude, and laziness are perfect descriptions of these pharmacy staff. Save yourself the hassle and drive over to Walgreens down the road. read more

After losing my health insurance, the pharmacy staff at the Safeway in Erie were very helpful when it came to finding discounts and generics. They have a $4 RX list like Walmart and Target do. Two of my medications were on the $4 list. They were very willing to call my doctor to update a prescription, and called me promptly when it was ready. My only peeve is the hours, but once you know what they are it's pretty easy to work around. read more

We went in at 8:00 pm to pick up late dinner and there was absolutely nothing in the deli. When asked girl if they had any fried chicken or anything she said no they close at 8. The way it looked it looked like it closed at 7 pm. Please if closing at 8 close at 8 so us late dinner people know where to go. read more

I recently purchased a dozen (I believed) beautiful roses in hopes of cheering up a very ill friend in the hospital. I trimmed the stems, adding the supplimental packet of fertilizer along with ample water to the vase. When I visited my buddy the following day, I was mortified by how pathetic the flowers looked. I took a picture of the flowers and went back to the floral dept. at Safeway. The attendant apologised and provided me with another dozen roses mentioning, "free of charge" like she was seriously doing me a favor? I brought the new arrangement back to the hospital hoping to redeem myself from the initial epic flower fail. Guess what... My visit the following day, revealed roses just as shockingly awful. I simply threw the flowers in the trash and had a laugh with my friend. It's the thought that counts, right? Although I was assured the flowers were guaranteed, by this point, my time and troubles would cost more than than the flowers. I wrote Safeway about my concerns but never recieved the courtesy of a reply. read more

@Safeway I purchased $50 of your king crab legs. Your seafood counter help was amazing and the new counter looked inviting! Unfortunately over 50% must not have been properly handled somewhere in the supply chain and instead of being white when steamed, they were brown. I typically would have just tossed the bad product, but because it was expensive I did ziplock the uneaten crab in the shell and approached the service desk. The manager approaches and tells me without a receipt there is nothing he can do?! I ask if he can use my reward number to see the transaction. Nope. Not a, 'jeez that is a bummer, so sorry that happened - let's see what some of our options might be'....I left the rotten crab, turned and walked out at total disappointment (and frustration) as to how this was handled. I did hear him say as I was leaving, 'well, I could replace it with more product' - great!! More bad crab, awesome. Regardless, just lost a 15 year customer who has averaged spending $500 - $800/month. I have been going to Safeway less and less for many reasons - but always enjoyed the staff and after so many years considered it my neighborhood store. In a town where the completion is fierce, customer service matters. Hope this gets the attention of someone who can impact change and put your customer happiness over process and procedure. read more

The first thing you notice is how organized and clean the store is. The employees are always friendly and helpful. I only wish they had Boars Head meat at the Deli and a better selection of meat. The only other gripe I have which I have with most grocery stores is that they leave products on the shelf that are due to expire in a day and then I don't realize it until I'm home... like yogurt.. etc. read more
