She stood extremely close to me, which made me uncomfortable. A simple "excuse me" would have been appreciated so I knew she needed access to the machine for her card tap or override. I understand staff need to assist customers and use the checkout system, but personal space should still be respected. For some people, having someone suddenly stand that close without warning can be very uncomfortable or triggering. I hope staff can be more mindful of this in the future.

Disrespectful service…read more I was buying a muffin and a drink. The self-serve checkout line was long so I decided to get in line for a cashier. In front of me was a woman with a pretty full cart, but I was willing to wait, and it seemed like the quickest option. There was no one behind me in line. When the woman in front of me had finished unloading her cart, the cashier came around the till. She made eye contact with me, glanced down at my basket with two items, and put her closed till sign behind the other woman's groceries. She then turns, looks me directly in the eyes again, and with a smile says, "find a different lane." I had two items. I understand that you needed to close, to go on break or something, but how do look a customer in the eye and tell them to find a different lane than the one they had been waiting in for about 5mins? Would it have inconvenienced you to spend an extra 2mins helping a customer? I had to go to a different line to purchase my items. I left the store angry and embarrassed. If you are going to shop here please know: 1. selection is not the best 2. use the self-checkout at ALL costs, even if the line is long

There are a lot of Safeways around and I'm sure we've all been in them and even done some shopping…read moreat them from time to time. It's a gigantic chain store but I still find quite a bit of difference from store to store, and therefore a reason to review. Let's go point form to get to the meat (rear centre/right) and potatoes (far right). - Unusually friendly staff. There's a a few of them that really stick out in this location! They're so friendly that I sometimes think they're mocking me. In all reality they're just very genuinely friendly, so I take the next minute to reevaluate and correct my unnecessarily pessimistic disposition. - Shiny clean produce. This is a staple among among Safeways and a real selling feature for sure. In general, their prices are higher than many other grocery giants, but if you need mass produced produce, Safeway is a solid choice. - Huge wait times. - I've not once seen this Safeway, or really any for that matter, run at full capacity. I've seen queues with over 18 people, but there are always closed registers. For some reason I forget about it often and am kicking myself when all I need is 1 item. *Side Note* I always think it's fun when you finish purchasing your items and the cashier says "You saved $6 dollars today." Who knew?? Did you know you save money?? Huh, I must be reading my bank statement wrong because it looks like I spent well over $100. ;) See you tomorrow, Safeway.

This kind of behavior is unacceptable and reflects poorly on your store's customer service standards. I would like to request that your staff be properly trained to treat all customers with respect. I hope you will address this issue to ensure a more welcoming and professional environment for all shoppers. Sincerely,

The store was bright, and shelves seemed to be stocked, and even though there were people, I didn't feel it was too busy. I picked up $1 bread, sushi from a decent selection, and a premade salad for less than $3. I also got snacks for our drive home at reasonable prices. There were two entrances, and I entered from the side with the elevator. The other side had escalators and there were a lot of people hanging out at the bottom of them. They had a good variety of organic fruit, yogurts, health bars, and even some interesting packaged meals. My favorite items were their locally sourced items, such as the Cosmic Power oatmeal-nuts-and-seeds cookies available in their deli and Hardbite potato chips in the snacks aisle. The honey Dijon flavor of potato chips was very good, and so was the Black Truffle Sea Salt flavor. I also grabbed a shrimp katsu sandwich and a BBQ pork sandwich. The shrimp katsu sandwich had a good amount of veggies, but a tad too much mayonnaise. The BBQ pork sandwich had good BBQ pork filling, but the bun was kind of bland. Both sandwiches were pretty gourmet for a hiking trip though. For small meals, we grabbed a tandoori cauliflower bowl and a chicken shawarma bowl -- both had great flavors. I liked the prepared dressings that came with them. We were the envy of other hikers who just had peanut butter-and-jelly sandwiches.

Nor do I want to check and bag my own groceries, which I was forced to do as no cashiers were open!. I have been a faithful Safeway customer for over 20 years but today that ends. Safeway has closed my favorite store (Thorncliffe, where the employees were soooo nice and they knew me) so the next closest is Beddington. NEVER AGAIN! (and I mean never!) I realize as I write this that a corporation such as yours doesn't care if I return or not. I get that but in my opinion, Safeway/Sobeys is now on the bottom of my list. several items I purchased wouldn't even scan and due to this I needed help. (of course I did as it is not my job!
