Also, charging a month up front is a great business decision but sucks as the consumer. I do not recommend this place. You can hire a private swim coach or pay $5 to go to a local pool and teach your kid to swim faster than these people. **Edit and Update** If I could give a negative star review I would. We missed two classes for various reasons and we tried to make them up but had issues because we weren't "active members" and they wanted us to pay more money to use the classes we already paid for. I went in to talk and pointed out this was t on the website but in a paper terms and conditions we signed (glad it was easy to go back and see, also nobody told us that when we previously asked about making up the class). She also had zero concern for trying to make us a happy customer. I suggested waiving the month fee and she essentially laughed at it and acted like her hands were tied after taking about $300 of our money. She could easily waive $20 but chose to have an angry and unhappy customer. I refuse to give this place any more money. This place may be the biggest scam I have encountered in my entire life. Stay away.

They have a lap pool and they also have a warmer pool that includes a lazy river and a couple of lap lanes, along with the children's play area. We were there on a weekday afternoon well swim lessons were going on, but had plenty of space to use one lap lane and the lazy river. They have a set of steps to enter by the lazy river and they have a chairlift that enters into one of the lanes. There's also a hot tub that has steps with a rail to get in. In the family locker room there are two accessible changing rooms with a bathroom and shower, including a shower bench and adjustable showerhead. They have an automatic door opener, which is phenomenal, however, the lock is up pretty high, which makes it less accessible for wheelchair users, and short people. there are two other changing rooms in the family locker space that don't have the automatic button, adjustable showerhead, or shower bench, or grab bars on the toilet, but are still fairly large and have space for a wheelchair user There was plenty of accessible parking and automatic doors to get into the building. The space exiting was pretty tight due to how they have the chairs arranged, somebody with a larger wheelchair may have to exit through the entry lane. We also used the steam room, there was no automatic door, but the door wasn't terribly heavy. We've been to lots of rec centers in the Denver Metro area, and this is definitely one of the most accessible

If you want to play racquetball, you can check out Paddles from the front desk, workout classes upstairs, they even have kids events after hours. If you are working out and have children, make sure to drop them off in the children's pavilion while you work out and then you can take them into the pool, which does include a waterslide and a lazy river. If you want to go swim laps, they do have an open lap pool on the opposite side away from the kid pool, which is nice. There is no outdoor pool, which is the only downfall.

Reading through these reviews I realized many are 7 or 8 years old and are inaccurate in their…read moredescriptions..So this is as much a public service than it is a review. This is an exceptionally well rounded Y, aimed at families and consistent with the YMCA's core values. Genuinely friendly staff, many active classes serving a wide range of individuals. From spinning classes to Silver Sneakers and everything in between. Good childrens programs, nicely maintained pools and good machines, free weights etc. The locker rooms are clean and well maintained. The target here is clearly maintaining a healthy lifestyle in a relaxed atmosphere. It's probably not the best choice for preeners and hard core lifters, although they have a good array of equipment. Especially nice is the Egym setup that has a 9 machine circuit where you spend a session with a Y advisor that shows you proper use of each machine while setting up each machine to your personal settings. You are given a coded wrist band that contains your information and it reads your info at each machine through a video screen and sets the weights to your capabilities that are measured in your setup session. It also increases your weights incrementally over time as you improve. Once again, geared towards long term health. Seniors seem to really appreciate the set routine that works all the muscle groups safely. Many health and well being classes and seminars are offered also. From nutrition advice to cooking seminars.. Truly a nice, healthy approach to self improvement.

Kate sits in the office all day on her phone, Tyco takes up all the space in the back gym w no consideration of the other members who also want to use that space. He has helpful, friendly & had a great attitude. It's a shame how much turn over & the quality has gone downhill. The pool is always closed, the e gym takes up so much space in an already small gym. Cardio equipment is always down.

Do not bring your special needs children here, especially if they are on a waiver, it has been a…read moreliteral nightmare. My son is 5 and has level 3 autism. He's on a government waiver that pays for his swim safety classes, which British Swim School knew about and claimed to have experience with. I PERSONALLY paid registration to Eliza, who enrolled us, to get him in and the government took over from there. Mind you, I'm supposed to be reimbursed for the registration fee and any additional funds from a $1000 check from the government. When I mentioned it to Eliza she stopped communicating with me. So my son missed swim class twice, once because of croup and the next weekend his dad tested positive for Covid. I followed all procedures and emailed and texted BSS. I actually called the hotel as well because it was short notice and I wanted everyone to know. The owner Nikki eventually called me and accuse my son of missing his first class too, so 3 in total, which was wrong and I corrected her on. The school literally took his picture on his first day. Then she has the audacity to say the same thing to my sons waiver case manager, who then expressed to me how rude Nikki was to him. This was my email to BSS after speaking with the case manager. "Hello, I just spoke with Elan, and he mentioned that Nikki complained about Lincoln missing two session. Lincoln had croup one week (could have been Covid we didn't test him) and the following week his dad tested positive for Covid. I would never bring a sick child into swim lessons and expose other children, so he missed those two sessions only. And I emailed and texted both times and I called the hotel to make sure everyone was informed about the Covid situation. Nikki then called me under the impression that Lincoln had missed his first session as well, which was incorrect, and I feel like because of that presumption and the funds issue, I have not been treated well by her. I understand there was an issue with the payment, which has been rectified, and I had zero control over; however, I do not understand the continued complaint about my sick child missing swim lessons. Please tell me what I should do differently if Lincoln is sick or exposed to Covid? This is not at all what I expected when I talked with Eliza about enrolling my special needs child at British Swim School. Amber Houghton" I posted a review here just like this one and Nikki called me extremely apologetic and wanting to make up the classes he my son had missed FINALLY. Then she did it again tonight. We were discussing additional classes and the payments and the registration fee. She told me she hasn't been paid as of yet by the government (again, they told me they've worked with these programs before) and that she can refund the registration fee when she received it from the government. I corrected her and let her know I paid out of pocket for the registration and my card should be on file. She responded with, "No card on file." I then responded with a screenshot of my confirmation email with my debit card number attached and on file. The amount of discrimination and disrespect is staggering. And I have all the emails and texts to prove it. I wanted to continue to see the swim instructor Sophia because she's amazing and I would gladly pay out of pocket, but instead I'll be canceling every session we have. Thank you Sophia, you were incredible. Nikki, you should be ashamed of yourself. And from what I can see from other reviews I'm not the only special needs parent having these issues.

The last time I came here was over 10 years ago and it is completely revamped. Karyn and Kim were super helpful in getting me started on how the membership works and allowing me to walk around to check out the space before deciding to sign up for the membership. Luckily I'm a resident of Westminster and was able to sign up with a resident discount. The 25 yard lap pool is nice and clean, there is a small diving area and a play pool. The locker rooms are clean and you can rent a locker for free with a collateral like a car key or ID in exchange for a key to a random locker. The showers are equipped with liquid soap, and the bathrooms are clean. We tried the steam room, didn't get a chance to do the hot tub and the sauna yet but those all looked great too. You can get a punch card at a discount if you're not sure membership is the way to go to try them out. There is a small gym area for weights and cardio machines. They offer classes too so check them out online through the Westminster Activities Book. Really glad that we joined the membership - we now have access to all the Westminster Rec Centers. Super reasonable and it goes back to the city and our community.

I signed up for a "free" 6-week challenge that had been advertised on Facebook. I chose the…read moremembership option ($270 upfront, $180 after the challenge) versus paying $599 upfront for the challenge. I chose the membership option because I was hopeful my work would allow me to actively make time for the gym. Unfortunately, I just wasn't able to complete it do to some changes in my work schedule. Let me just say the workouts, coaches, and people are very friendly. The 6-week challenge meal plan is limited, making it incredibly hard to follow. This comes from someone who is pretty easy-going about meal options and has done low-card, calorie counting, Keto, and a few other meal lifestyles successfully. There's apparently a new meal prep guide with a larger option for foods, but it came out after I started so I don't know much about it. They don't have a copier, so I took a photo of the contract, which is neither here nor there, but more a friendly note to snap a photo or you won't have something to refer back to. They do require you to sign a photo release to join, which really isn't something I was interested in doing, but had already signed up before being told about the release. You're also required to friend the owners, Sol and Amy, on social media and follow the gym. (Funny enough, my EFT just processed for the current month, my last, and I noticed one already unfriended me. I guess that means we can't be friends if my membership during/after my notice. ‍) It's alright. I wasn't thrilled by the idea anyway. Friending them does allow membership in a secret group of other members and one of other challengers. I can't fairly review the gym or the workouts other than saying I would have at least continued to complete the challenge had work not interfered. It is a great workout. You go at your own pace (kind of). Coaches are eager to help (and encouraging) so you don't feel like the new kid. I enjoyed it! My biggest frustration regarding the challenge specifically is there isn't really a good option to just try the challenge. Being asked to pay $600 for a "free" campaign is a lot of money to try something out. When opting for the more price efficient option you're locked into more than 6 weeks because of the misleading 30 day policy unless you cancel after your very first foundations class. The policy states: "Once payment is received on an EFT membership there are no refunds under any circumstances. 30 day written notice is required to cancel an EFT membership. Any payments that fall within that 30 days must be satisfied." MOST IMPORTANTLY: Unless you give notice on the 1st day of the month in a 31 day month, you will be paying for more than 30 days after giving notice. If notice is given on the 2nd or any time after, you'll be billed for the remainder of the current month and then your 30 days. Again, there is no way out of getting locked into a second month automatically when trying the challenge. In my case, I gave written notice just over two weeks after starting, but I paid for an additional month was still due. All in all, I paid $460 for 14 days of foundations classes and 5 days of actual workouts.
