During the consultation, Joe walked through our home and carefully noted what needed to be addressed. He sent us a detailed quote that same evening and was quick to answer any follow-up questions. He adjusted the plan based on our preferences and offered thoughtful recommendations when appropriate, never with any pressure. His experience--over 25 years in the business--along with his reputation made it easy to trust his guidance. About a month later, Joe returned to complete the babyproofing. He was professional, detail-oriented, and clearly takes pride in his work. The installations were clean, sturdy, and extremely well done--the quality truly speaks for itself. We wish we could give Joe more stars. He did an incredible job baby-proofing our house, and was an awesome consultant along the way. From the Zoom walkthrough, to answering questions over email, to the day he arrived and did the whole house top to bottom, he was professional, kind, funny, and smart. He did more in one day than we could have reasonably accomplished in weeks. (In what it would have taken us to learn, shop, find time to install, test, redo, etc.) It was one of those services we didn't know we need til we did it. We would recommend Joe and Safer Babies child-proofing to any new parent in the greater Philadelphia area. It was a LOT of work for him to labor all day, and the products are quality. We feel the price was 100% worth it. On that note, it is an expense to plan for! This could be a great gift from grandparents, or an amazing crowd-sourced baby shower gift! I hope one day our country/states/cities will subsidize work like this, so folks like Joe can make sure all children are safe at home. Joe helped us get our rowhouse in good shape for when our baby starts moving around. He was very responsive, always on time, and professional throughout the job. He did not rush on the day of installation and made sure to clean up afterwards. He was also flexible with us changing our mind on certains aspects of the plan. He can bring his own recommended equipment or install things that you buy and provide, which is really great since we had a couple products we knew we wanted. It doesn't seem fair to only give Joe 5-stars for the work he did. Our house is now a baby-safe fortress, and I am amazed at how thorough, thoughtful, and meticulous the work is. (Plus, Joe is also really nice.) There are ways to keep babies safe that I never knew existed, and Joe helped us make our house as safe as possible while still looking as attractive (and discreet) as possible. My husband and I are thrilled with the peace of mind knowing that if our backs are turned for one second, Baby-cakes can't fall down the stairs, out the window, topple furniture onto himself, or pinch his fingers in-between doors. (The kid? He's the only one who is not so thrilled with Joe's work. All the baby-proofing really put a damper on his usual cabinet / drawer excavations, and stairway-mountain climbs. Fortunately however, the baby doesn't have a Yelp account yet, so he'll have to keep his opinions to himself.) read more

I am so happy and relieved that I decided to have our home baby proofed by Safer Babies. It was such a pleasure working with Joe. I was overwhelmed with how much I thought our home needed, but Joe was so down-to-earth, and made everything such a breeze for us. We were impressed by his wealth of knowledge. What I really love about the work that he did is that you can't even tell that our drawers and cabinets are baby-proofed because the tools that he used are discrete since they are located inside the drawers and cabinets. We had Joe from Safer Babies baby proof our house just after our son started walking. He installed a gate on our stairs and some door and drawer latches, and he anchored our TV and several pieces of heavy furniture. He also noticed and suggested a few items I hadn't thought of, but he didn't pressure me or try to upsell me on anything. He did a good job with the installation -- the gate feels sturdy and is evenly balanced, the door latches are discrete but operate well, and he cleaned up after himself which is always appreciated. I can't say I compared prices, but his fee was pretty reasonable I think. read more
