We were in need of babyproofing services for our home and came across Safer Babies. The reviews were consistently positive, so we booked an in-home consultation with the owner, Joe Metzger (virtual consultations are also available, but we preferred in person). During the consultation, Joe walked through our home and carefully noted what needed to be addressed. He sent us a detailed quote that same evening and was quick to answer any follow-up questions. He adjusted the plan based on our preferences and offered thoughtful recommendations when appropriate, never with any pressure. His experience--over 25 years in the business--along with his reputation made it easy to trust his guidance. About a month later, Joe returned to complete the babyproofing. He was professional, detail-oriented, and clearly takes pride in his work. The installations were clean, sturdy, and extremely well done--the quality truly speaks for itself. He even noticed that the door on our built-in microwave was popping out and casually fixed it. Joe was a pleasure to work with, and our home feels much safer and more secure now. read more

Joe from Safer Babies was awesome. He spent the entire day baby proofing our house--installing baby gates, door locks, fireplace locks, molly-bolting, cabinet locks, and made our baby monitor look much nicer on the wall. Joe is so easy to work with, very professional, and I would recommend him to anyone who is baby proofing. My dog Louie also really liked him. Would recommend-5 stars. Thanks Joe! read more

Joe has now done our house in Philadelphia and Haddonfiel. Perfect installation both times using retractables and metal gates. Very reasonably priced. His gates saves lives and we sleep a lo better knowing these gates are secured and reliable. Highly recommend. read more

We wish we could give Joe more stars. He did an incredible job baby-proofing our house, and was an awesome consultant along the way. From the Zoom walkthrough, to answering questions over email, to the day he arrived and did the whole house top to bottom, he was professional, kind, funny, and smart. He did more in one day than we could have reasonably accomplished in weeks. (In what it would have taken us to learn, shop, find time to install, test, redo, etc.) It was one of those services we didn't know we need til we did it. We would recommend Joe and Safer Babies child-proofing to any new parent in the greater Philadelphia area. It was a LOT of work for him to labor all day, and the products are quality. We feel the price was 100% worth it. On that note, it is an expense to plan for! This could be a great gift from grandparents, or an amazing crowd-sourced baby shower gift! I hope one day our country/states/cities will subsidize work like this, so folks like Joe can make sure all children are safe at home. We ALL deserve to have our homes set up for safety for our babies! And we can't imagine a better person to do it than Joe. read more

Joe was amazing with installing three gates and making sure our baby's dresser was secure! Our daughter is starting to walk so it is important to make sure our house was safe for her and Joe did everything we needed in a timely fashion and was reasonable in pricing! In fact, he was quick to respond to our questions during our consultation and afterwards. He also did extra things that were not originally agreed upon (as we found other stuff that needed to be done). He will be absolutely recommended to everybody we know who may need baby proofing! read more

Joe is highly professional and knows exactly what he us doing. He installed 5 gates and did such a fabulous job with all of them. We are so happy to get this done with our very active and newly mobile son. Thank you Joe!! read more

It doesn't seem fair to only give Joe 5-stars for the work he did. Our house is now a baby-safe fortress, and I am amazed at how thorough, thoughtful, and meticulous the work is. (Plus, Joe is also really nice.) There are ways to keep babies safe that I never knew existed, and Joe helped us make our house as safe as possible while still looking as attractive (and discreet) as possible. My husband and I are thrilled with the peace of mind knowing that if our backs are turned for one second, Baby-cakes can't fall down the stairs, out the window, topple furniture onto himself, or pinch his fingers in-between doors. (The kid? He's the only one who is not so thrilled with Joe's work. All the baby-proofing really put a damper on his usual cabinet / drawer excavations, and stairway-mountain climbs. Fortunately however, the baby doesn't have a Yelp account yet, so he'll have to keep his opinions to himself.) read more

Safer babies did a phenomal job at baby proofing our home! Joe is extremely professional and an expert at his craft. We felt like we were in great hands throughout the entire process and it's such a relief to know we don't have to worry about our son hurting himself in our home. Joe truly goes above and beyond with his clients! I cannot recommend Safer Babies enough for all your baby proofing needs. read more

Joe helped us get our rowhouse in good shape for when our baby starts moving around. He was very responsive, always on time, and professional throughout the job. He did not rush on the day of installation and made sure to clean up afterwards. He was also flexible with us changing our mind on certains aspects of the plan. He can bring his own recommended equipment or install things that you buy and provide, which is really great since we had a couple products we knew we wanted. We are definitely happy with how the house is babyproofed now and would definitely recommend his services to anyone who is looking to do the same. read more

Having my home professionally babyproofed with Safer Babies was one of the best decisions I have made! Joe was an absolute pleasure to work with. I have such peace of mind now knowing that our baby gates and cabinet locks are installed in a way that is sturdy, secure, and easy to use -- all while looking great. I am often a DIY type of person but having this done professionally was 1000% worth it. read more

Great experience with reasonable pricing and a much safer staircase now!

Friendly and professional service at a reasonable price -- Joe did a meticulous job mounting furniture in our home, which now feels much more secure for a baby on the move. On top of that, our tall bookshelves just look a heck of a lot nicer now that they are level and flush together. Would highly recommend to any parents, grandparents, caregivers, etc. who are questioning whether their space is baby safe or looking for peace of mind! read more

We spent a fortune on baby gates - none of them worked. Between that and not knowing just what we needed because we were hit with the most aggressive, danger-prone baby we've ever met, we knew we needed professional help. We searched high and low for a specialist, and the only one we felt comfortable with was Joe at Safer Babies. Not only that, but he actually answers the phone! He made our house feel 100% safe for our little hellion. He custom built gates all over our house, quickly and expertly. read more

Joe did an amazing job on baby-proofing our house. We've had such peace of mind thanks to his work! Highly recommend!!

I am so happy and relieved that I decided to have our home baby proofed by Safer Babies. It was such a pleasure working with Joe. I was overwhelmed with how much I thought our home needed, but Joe was so down-to-earth, and made everything such a breeze for us. We were impressed by his wealth of knowledge. He provided supplies and had the tools of everything that was needed to keep our baby safe. What I really love about the work that he did is that you can't even tell that our drawers and cabinets are baby-proofed because the tools that he used are discrete since they are located inside the drawers and cabinets. Our stress has reduced significantly knowing that our baby can roam more freely without the worry that he will get hurt from furniture. We plan to move in a couple of years, and will definitely contact Joe again for help! A++ read more

Joe did an excellent job childproofing our home. He was punctual and took his time installing our gates and the clear acrylic on our stairs. We have a modern home and it doesn't even look like we childproofed! The gates look like they're part of our handrail and the clear acrylic on our stairs looks neat and sturdy. I would highly recommend Safer Babies for your childproofing needs. read more

We had Joe from Safer Babies baby proof our house just after our son started walking. He installed a gate on our stairs and some door and drawer latches, and he anchored our TV and several pieces of heavy furniture. He also noticed and suggested a few items I hadn't thought of, but he didn't pressure me or try to upsell me on anything. He did a good job with the installation -- the gate feels sturdy and is evenly balanced, the door latches are discrete but operate well, and he cleaned up after himself which is always appreciated. I can't say I compared prices, but his fee was pretty reasonable I think. read more
