Roberson assisted me while I was on vacation to the East Coast. My SUV rental received a windshield chip and Safelite Auto in Winchester were the first ones to 100% handle this issue. They took care of my insurance process as well as did the repair in a speedy and professional manner. The entire time they communicated with me and were very friendly and extremely helpful. If I ever find myself needing glass repair on the east coast I will definitely come back to this location. read more

This is the first time I'm providing a truly neutral/middle of the road review. I'm torn how to feel about my experience so I'd say it's a solid 3-star experience. I arrived, as instructed, 10-15 minutes before my scheduled appointment time. I was greeted quickly and my Jeep was taken back immediately. I was told before they started the repair process that they have to apply pressure which makes it possible for the crack to expand. If that happened it would be unable to be repaired and would have to be replaced. My luck - that happened. I now need an entirely new windshield. What was originally a $175 repair is now an almost $1000 replacement. Everyone was super nice and they were on time, but I'm questioning the outcome, and I'm obviously disappointed. Wife hit a Hawk on Saturday, shattered windshield, called insurance and was recommended Safelite. Scheduled an appointment for Monday (yesterday) between 1 and 6 PM. I opened the garage door left the car Backed in to the garage with the keys in the car. Technician texted several times with ever later time of arrival, last text stating 4:30-5:00. When he didn't arrive by 5:30 we called the office. The phones were turned off for the day. Around 9:00 we received a text that it was cancelled. We went online and rescheduled for today between 1-6. Only then did we close the garage that had been open all day. Today, Technician texted asking if he could come between 11-1, we said yes. Then we received a text that the technician had already tried to come yesterday and the garage was closed and no one was home....there were 3 of us in the house, 2 in the room with windows facing the driveway. Nobody came yesterday. We then received a text cancelling the service for today. We then called BEFORE they closed for the day and finally were able to speak to a manager that claimed to have "No record of our reschedule or any of the events" and was unwilling to reschedule in a reasonable time frame. I had an appt for a windshield repair at my place of work between 8a-12p. I was called 8:05am to say they couldnt do it because I had no garage and it was going to rain at 6pm ( 10 hours later ) I asked to reschedule and Wyatt told me he can only reschedule for shop appointments. he could t schedule a mobile visit! I tried to contact customer service and they told me same thing. it's quicker to go in the office , and ahe could t schedule me for about 3 weeks. she tried that approach 3 times. she finally scheduled me for next week . Safelite advertises " we come to you" service but they do everything to avoid that!! there was no reason to not do the repair at 8am. it was gorgeous weather !! Sadly, I used them once last year for a small chip. The repairman responded and proceeded to shatter the entire windshield trying to fix it!! Then had to go 40 miles to the nearest office to have it fixed. I even emailed the president of the company and still have received no response. I probably will never get one!! stay away and go elsewhere. they aren't reliable at all and are misleading for sure! read more

Car left unlocked and unattended -- completely unacceptable experience I brought my car to this Safelite location for what was supposed to be a simple windshield replacement. I was told it would take about two to two and a half hours. Having received no phone call, voicemail, or text letting me know the status of my vehicle, I went to check on it myself and found my car unlocked, unattended, and left outside after hours, with the keys and paperwork visible inside of the office. That's a serious security issue. Another customer's paperwork was also visible by the window right next to mine. Even if there had been a mix-up in communication (which there wasn't -- I double-checked my call logs and voicemails AND confirmed not 1 but 2 phone numbers to reach me), there's no excuse for leaving a customer's vehicle unsecured. After more than 24 hours of waiting for them to reopen, I raised the issue and the staff were defensive instead of apologetic. I was told things like "I can't turn back time," and offered no apology or resolution. I've been bounced between Safelite and GEICO, and both have refused to take responsibility for this situation. My car was essentially held hostage until I paid $500...five hundred dollars for negligence and abysmal customer service. This was one of the most unprofessional experiences I've ever had with any auto service company. I'm sharing this so others know how poorly this shop handled a very simple service -- and how little care is shown for a customer's property or peace of mind. read more

My wife had a home appointment between 1pm and 6pm. She received a text message that Corey from the Winchester Va. location would be arriving between 2:35pm and 3:05pm. After waiting till almost 4pm I called and spoke to an agent, they called Corey the technician and the local office. There was no answer and the left a message for them to call me. Ok at almost 5pm still nothing from the local office or Corey. I called the main number and they tried to contact someone, but no answer. They gave me Corey's phone number so I sent him a nice text to see what the progress was. Can you guess what happened? NO REPLEY BACK. My wife called the next day and the agent had no response from Winchester location as to why there was no communication. Honestly I will just tell people to use anyone but Safelite. read more

Safelight does not handle vehicles older than 1990. No where on the website was this stated. I filed an insurance claim and was called by a Safelight representative. These folks did a great job even after I told them I was putting in my POS Jeep Compass instead of my POS Jeep Patriot (yes, both vehicles are absolutely terrible). They let me know when the work would be done and they were actually early, complete by 0800 . why can't they get it right. I had to take 2 days off from work. 1st time was they replaced the windshield but it wasn't a Toyota product so they couldn't calibrate it. The safety features are IMPORTANT! Then you call me back and tell me you ordered the Toyota windshield and reschedule me. I take off work again. I come up there I am first one there. After about 2 hours the guy comes out and says, the windshield is in but we can't calibrate it. So its the same as the last time I was here a week ago. WTH are you guys doing? They say I need to go to the dealership and have them calibrate it. They assured me (your guys) that the dealership won't charge me and Geico will pay for it. If not, have them call 540-722-6250 (please call this number and tell me what you hear). I ask, this is not a 1800 number is it. The guy says no, it comes directly here (LIE). I ask his name and I leave. I contact Geico and low and behold, they will not cover the calibration with the dealership. ( I know that is not Safelite's problem) But not what I was told. So Now I have to make an appointment with the Dealership and have it calibrated, pay for it and then file a claim to be reimbursed from Geico. ALL BECAUSE YOU COULDN'T CALIBRATE the important SAFETY features. Then one of your people call me and says they have the machine that will calibrate my vehicle but its in Sterling, Virginia and if I want to come in on Wednesday to get it calibrated. WHAT?? Went to have a windshield replaced in my subaru, after a quick install i was told my remote start (factory from Subaru) was being reinstalled because they dont have 3M here and i would need to reinstall myself??? EASIEST EXPERIENCE. I am 18 and this was by far the easiest experice i've had since being on my own and doing adults things. Called my insurance after a rock hit my windshield and the rock has left a pretty significant crack. They asked what service provider i would like to replace my windsheild and I said Safelite because they can come to you (they even offered to come to my work to install it.) The call took less than 30 minutes and my insurance covered the whole cost. They installed it in less than an hour while I was at work. If I need future glass repair I will be telling my insurance to forward me to Safelight :) read more

I had an appointment today to replace my windshield and wipers. Will never use Safelite again. As I was leaving and getting into my car, the key fob was not working. Thinking it needed a new battery, I purchased a new and replaced the old. Nothing was working--doors, lights, radio...etc., so I took my car to a mechanic. A fuse was blown. My car was working fine when I arrived at Safelite. After they completed their work, not so fine. I tried calling the company and customer service. An automated message instructed me to email. Both Phil and Seth are great representatives of Safelight.. Worst costumer service ever, I scheduled a windshield replacement and they never showed up or called, I rescheduled and once again no show no call, I called to to find out what's going on and they said they got a damaged windshield for the second time. I rescheduled again for Monday and I got an email saying that my appointment is today, I called to the number in the email and someone answers who knows where in the United States and they refuse to transfer me to the Winchester office, i finally got tired of asking to be transferred to the Winchester office so I rescheduled over the phone. Then when I finally was able to talk to someone from the Winchester office they keep telling that they put me down for next Monday not for today. It's just a hassle to try to work this out thru a third person, they should have a direct line listed instead. If I had know they don't care for costumers I would have never initiated a claim with those clowns who couldn't even run a day care. read more

I had a chip repaired on a 2021 Sienna on October 16, 2021. On July 15, 2022 it starts cracking at the repair, and within a week, the windshield had a crack across the whole windshield. Now I need an inspection, but NO ONE at Safelite will even call or email me back after numerous attempts to get in touch with a human. Absolute worst customer service experience ever, hands down. Ready to drive down to office and flip out on someone at this point. Not fckin happy at all. Nothing worse than a shoddy company doing sht work, and refusing to communicate with customers with repair issues under warranty. Take your business elsewhere, these people suck! read more

They told me they were busy and didn't have the time to calibrate and could I take it to the shop. This happened twice. So now I've wasted two days of work to fix an issue that shouldn't be an issue. I had to go into the shop to get mine replaced because of a camera needing to be aligned and come to find out I didn't actually have the camera just the hardware. It wound up being cheaper than they quoted me! The guys in Winchester were all so sweet and even let me hang out with my dog since we went in the day before Thanksgiving and we were getting on the road. Second time using Safelite Autoglass and this experience was completely different than the 1st time. 1st time we were completely satisfied & had great service. Technician very helpful & did a great job. Second time, very unsatisfied. Tech rushed through installation, did not secure cowl down and did not reattach the cowl clips back under the hood. We opted out of having them replace our wipers because we had already purchased new ones to replace our selves. Needless to say.... 1 of our wipers was broken during the windshield installation and the wiper arms were tightened way too tight and took 1/2 hour to get them loose to be able to secure the cowl In the middle. You could stick your fingers between the cowl & the windshield. The tech also reported the wrong mileage on our truck by 80,000 miles. When I called back to speak to someone, they said that doesn't matter about the mileage. When I reported all the other concerns He stated we have detailed pics of the documented body damage on your truck before installation. I stated that I had a picture of the cowl with a gap. He said oh we don't have a picture of that. I never said anything about body damage to my truck. Just very unsatisfactory windshield installation, missing cowl clips, cowl not secure & broken wiper. ..... what does body damage have to do with replacing a windshield? I was asked if I could drive to Winchester for them to take a look at the truck. So that would have cost me more money out of pocket for their poor work & My husband needed to drive the truck the next day so that was not an option. I was told well I will have to speak to the tech when he gets back & just what do you want. This was about 2 weeks ago & we haven't heard anything back. RUN from this chop shop!! I had my windshield replaced by Safelite. They did not use blankets or ANY protective gear to protect my car during this repair. I have photos of damage; as well as while the work was being done! The tech scratched BOTH sides of my car, the fenders from leaning on my car, the hood, the roof from prying the windshield out and other areas. I took the car to two Safelite locations to have photos taken and a claim processed. I was assured the claim would be submitted right away. I called to follow up a week later and was told they "forgot to submit my claim" and was promised it had just been submitted right then. I then get a call back 6 hours later to ask me what my First and Last name is, so that they could submit the claim. So I was again lied to about the claim being submitted. I called the main call center to make a complaint and was given ANOTHER excuse as to why it has not been submitted! I have had enough of the run around. This place is unprofessional, untrained and unresponsive. They also tried to say that the scratches were on the car already. The car was purchased just a week before the windshield was replaced and the markings are obviously consistent with a windshield replacement. To top it all off, the rubber molding they used is bubbling up and flapping, after just a week! Obviously that was not done correctly either. I will not let this chop shop touch my car. I will have a different PROFESSIONAL location repair the mistakes they made and I will contact my lawyer regarding the claim submission. read more

Had a confirmed appointment at 8:05 this morning. Sat there for two hours before leaving in disgust. Another gentleman there at the same time also waited for two hours and was then told it wouldn't be done until 1:00 pm. Talked to the manager Dwayne who proceeded to yell at me saying he had all these cars to work on, great customer service, never have I ever met a manager who came unhinged like that! Who has that much time to waste! When you make an appointment, and then they text you to confirm, they should get the job done! Driving through on a trip, a rock hit our windshield and cracked it. I called from about 30 minutes away. They got us checked in and helped me with insurance before we even arrived. We drove up and were immediately helped. Unfortunately, the crack was in a place that can't be repaired. It has to be replaced. They explained we were safe to keep driving today with the crack and can get it replaced when we reach our destination. We appreciate their honesty and prompt service. From the General section of the Safelite Nationwide Guarantee brochure: "If you have a problem that is covered by this warranty...we will replace or repair the warranted product or correct the defective workmanship without charge at a mutually agreed upon time." That, I discovered today, is not a statement that Dwayne Bellman Sr, manager of the Winchester Safelite location, believes applies to every customer. A rock hit my windshield and luckily I have insurance, so I had a Safelite technician come to my home to repair it at no cost to me on 10/9/17. Once the job was done, I was handed the Safelite brochure outlining their warranty. The technician stated that the crack "is guaranteed to not spread any further" from the point of repair. On 10/14, I got in the car and saw the crack had spread almost 3 inches. I immediately called Safelite customer service and spoke with Mike, who informed me that the same windshield could not be repaired twice, and since the spread was not due to new damage, it was a result of a faulty repair, the windshield would be replaced free of charge. On 10/16, another technician came out to my house and informed me I would have to pay my $250 deductible for a new windshield. I called Mr. Bellman and explained the situation to him, stressing that customer service had told me the replacement would be done free of charge, since it fell under Safelite's warranty. He stated that my situation did not fall under the warranty, and when I read him the above quote from the brochure, he told me it only applies to replacements, not replacements after initial repairs. Nowhere in the brochure I was given states that exclusion. After much back and forth, Mr. Bellman said, "I'll look into having the wording of the brochure changed." To me, that statement acknowledges that there is an issue in the wording of Safelite's warranty, and that customers are being made to think that they are covered by a warranty which does not actually exist. I then called customer service again, and spoke with Wendy and Lisa (executive services) and was given the same run around. No one would acknowledge the statement I quoted above from their brochure, only stating that it "only applies to replacement windshields." Am I supposed to psychically know that? Because it does not state that explicitly in the guarantee I was given. Now I am out $250 because Safelite did not properly repair my windshield in the first place and then refused to stand behind their stated guarantee. I will never recommend Safelite to anyone, and will make sure everyone knows that they are extremely selective in honoring their "guarantee" and that their customer service agents will tell you one thing, while management tells you something else. read more

I originally set up an appointment with safelite because of the ease of doing so online. I'm very busy with my business and don't have a lot of time to drive around pricing windshields, so this seemed easy. Let me tell you that was only + side to this company. The company called me immediately and set up an appointment the next day for my replacement windshield in my 94 g series van. The guy on the phone didn't express any problems with installing my windshield. I arrived 20 minutes ahead of schedule. The guy doing the install immediately said "oh the guy with the g series." He commences to walk outside with me to look at my vehicle. Before he gets within 10 feet of my van he says "yeah I can't put this windshield in". He begins to tell me how a couple dime size rust spots around my windshield are the reason he can't do the job. I said I don't care if it leaks I just need a windshield. I even offered to sign a waiver. Then he commences to snap at me and raise his voice telling me how I'm upset ( I actually wasn't at all) and that he could have a potential lawsuit if he put it in blah blah blah. ( I'm starting to get upset at this point ). So needless to say I left very dissatisfied. What a waste of my time. If there was a potential problem then why not tell me over the phone so I wouldn't have to waste my time. Needless to say I have a new windshield installed by Winchester auto glass and there was no problem installing with the dime size rust spots! read more

Told my nephew, when he was dropping his car off, with me within hearing range, "make sure you have everything ready when you pick your car up, I don't need you wasting my time". He is 22 so I let him handle it but it was an example of someone bullying a kid and my nephew was to shocked to say anything. Very negative experience with Safelite in Winchester: A rear crew-cab window on our truck was accidentally broken by landscapers mowing at my place of work. The landscape company gave us no problem in offering to take care of it, and directed us to Safelite. Dealing with Safelite turned into a two month ordeal - we were initially told that particular window was in short supply, but that they would have it within a week or so. Never happened. Called practically weekly being lied to or put off. (Was told at one point it had "reached their warehouse", but after that another month went by and they would never return my calls.) If they could not or would not be bothered to do what was necessary to obtain the correct window, I don't know why they just didn't tell us that - why keep stringing us along and have me calling constantly? VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Finally gave up and informed the landscape company we were going to try a different glass company. CALLED B-SAFE AND THEY WERE ON IT FROM THE GET-GO! THEY HAD THE REPLACEMENT WINDOW TRACKED DOWN WITHIN DAYS AND INSTALLED IT ASAP! ONLY WISH WE HAD CALLED THEM FIRST! From now on we will only deal with B-Safe, and I would encourage others to do the same. read more

Safelite replaced my windshield due to a large crack in my 2011 Rav4, it looks just like my original windshield and my state sticker and mirror we put back in the exact same place. I work locally so I just dropped my car at their location and came back for it. My insurance scheduled the appointment for me which was only two days after I called, so they were very quick to get me an appointment. The replacement price is right for my area; this is where I requested the replacement from my insurance company and they agreed. read more

I've used this location several times due to it being who my insurance recommended. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN! The first time I used them I scheduled a mobile service. They came almost an hour after the time scheduled. Then the installer left tar and glue down both sides of my car. Fast forward to a year or so later and I need another windshield. I scheduled an appointment for an in shop time figuring that it had to be a better job. I get back in my car to find that my xm radio antenna had been broken. When I went in to complain about it the manager just said yeah it happens sometimes and didn't seem to care. He then told me I had to go get an estimate for the repair. I've been in the automotive business and I have never made my customer go get an estimate for something that I have broken. So off to the dealership I go. They gave me a hand written estimate and I return to the shop. The manager states that is not what he wanted and that he didn't have that much money budgeted to fix it (not quite sure how that is my problem). So it goes back and forth between the dealership and the manager several times before they finally take the estimate and write a check. After not hearing anything from them for several weeks my wife calls and asks to speak to the manager. He is very rude to her and hangs up on her. Thankfully the dealership had the check and ordered and installed the part. That will be the last time I will ever use them. And I have filed a complaint with my insurance company about them. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. Trust me, go somewhere else. I have dealt with them twice, and both times they completely disregarded the appointment times and provided horrible customer service. The first incident was last year. My husband took his car in for an appointment to have the windshield replaced. When he got there, he was told that they did not have the windshield, but that it was on the way. He waited for over an hour before someone finally arrived with the windshield. No one bothered to apologize, and he didn't bother wasting his breath to complain. We had another damaged windshield, and our insurance company said they work with Safelite. I decided to give them another chance and made an appointment. Today, they were supposed to come out to our house between 8am-12pm to replace another windshield. At 11:45, when no one had called me, I called the customer service number. They called the shop in Winchester, and I was told that the tech would be to my house within 45 minutes. So, they were going to be late. At 12:45, when STILL no one had showed up or called, I called the customer service number again. They called the shop again and after a long hold, the customer service rep said they could not reach the tech but that they left him a message, "ok?" I said, "No, not ok." At this point I was pretty mad. It is supposed to rain this afternoon. How would they replace my windshield if it was raining, right? Anyway, the rep on the phone asked if I would like to officially make a complaint. I did, but what is the point? They obviously do not care about their customers. Finally, the tech did call me after 1pm and said he would be there in 15 minutes. And when he got here? It started to sprinkle. He also said, "Let me see if I have the part I need." He was perfectly nice and apologetic and told me that someone didn't show up for work today and that to top it off, he was having trouble with his cell phone. Maybe that's true. I hope that's really what happened. But someone in the shop in Winchester could have called me first thing this morning and said, "We have an employee out sick- do you want to reschedule? The soonest you can reasonably expect a tech is _______ (whatever time)." I ended up telling the tech to forget it, that I was going to take my business elsewhere. He offered to have me drive to the shop and he would do it there tonight. No way! There are five other companies that will come to my house, and keep their appointment time. I called Glass America- they will be here tomorrow morning. I guess Safelite didn't need my business. So if you have all the time and patience in the world and don't care about good customer service, this is your place. Otherwise, beware! read more
