Thief's. My car has a sensor/ camera mounted on the inside windshield - as most new vehicles do. In addition to the cost of the windshield replacement (approximately $500) they wanted $750 to calibrate/align the camera. I explained my car has a "calibrate" button that you simply push after installing a new windshield and it automatically recalibrates everything. They refused to install the windshield without the additional $750 recalibration fee. I went down the road to Auto Glass Express - they installed the new windshield quickly; I pressed the recalibration button and everything works perfectly. I'll never use SAFELITE again. Started my windshield replacement order online. Only complaint here is a lack of transparency in their quoting program. Most costs are known early in the process but don't show up til later, when scheduling. Finished my order and scheduling thru the chat feature. On the day of my appointment I learned the online discounts did not get added during the chat order completion. The technician, Michael put me in contact with Rhonda who made things right with the order, getting the price even lower than my expectation. The technician, Michael called in the morning to shorten my time window. When he wasn't going to make that window, he called to ensure I was aware. When he arrived, he was pleasant and got right to work. He explained things when I asked and finished in a reasonable amount of time. RANT. Consumer Alert. I have used Safelite in other states (NM, VA) and I was very pleased with the service. I used Safelite in Tyler a year and a half ago and they told me they couldn't repair my Escalade because of the type of glass it had; therefore the windshield would have to be replaced. At that time, I was disappointed, but I didn't think too much of it. Last week I called in repairs for 2 different vehicles. The technician arrives and begins the repair on the first vehicle. I had to run a quick errand, and when I return, he says I am so sorry, your glass cracked out. I went from a star rock chip to a crack halfway across my windshield. He then began to tell me he didn't see the need to put the Rain X on it since it cracked out. I asked if it would have to be replaced? He said no, this should hold for a little while but yeah if the crack bothers you, you can call and schedule a replacement and it will just cost you your deductible. I said why should I have to pay for a vehicle that you damaged, that doesn't seem fair. He said well there's always a risk of that when you do repairs. I said well I have had repairs done before and that didn't happen. He said well I will comp the wiper blades since it was a failed repair. He starts on the second vehicle, about 30 minutes later he says the second one was no problem and he proceeds to give me 2 (completely worthless) lifetime warranty brochures. When he leaves I go to put the warranty in the glove box and I am furious because the rock chip looks the exact same, just bigger. I call customer service and explain that I am very unhappy with the service I received and she says, No problem, I am so sorry for the failed repairs and the bad experience, would you like us to replace the windshields? I said I don't want the windshield replaced (on the 2nd vehicle) I just want the repair done correctly. She said well we can't go over a repair so we would need to replace the windshield, I said okay thank you and schedule the service. At NO POINT did she tell me that I would have to pay my deductible. I am thinking they were replacing it because it was a failed repair. Regarding the first vehicle she said someone would have to call me back because the technician hadn't closed out the ticket yet. I drop the vehicle off, no mention of a deductible, and I say while I am here, I also need to schedule the other vehicle for a replacement because he cracked it out. They were supposed to call me back on Friday, but no one did. She said sure and began to ask me about the glass and if the crack occurred during the repair and I said yes. She schedules it for Wednesday. When my daughter goes to pick up her car, she left the other car there so they could replace the windshield on Wednesday. They tell her she has to pay the deductible and we pay it ofcourse. Last night I get a text about my upcoming appointment and the estimated total. When I click on it, it shows the deductible, Rain X and new wiper blades. I was FIT TO BE TIED. I called this morning and told the receptionist not to start on the repair because I am absolutely done with Safelite Tyler, worst customer service I have ever received. read more

asked for window to be replaced. got a call yesterday that the truck needed to be inspected first because its 20 years old. they were supposed to send a tech out between 8am and 5pm I sat here in my chair in my house until 4pm. i called after 30 mins of wanting to talk to a human I get tpld the tech showed up but we werebt here. Bald face lie! Been here all day! never leftvmy house to even go outside. no onecever pulled in norcrang the doorbell. wasted 8 hours waiting on this tech! will never ever use safelite again! Worst customer service. I spoke with safelight on 06/01 and was told it was special order glass they would need to order, great. They called the next day and we went through the same conversation, she told me it would be about a week to come in. I didn't hear from them but I was going out of town, no worries. I called again on 06/16 and was told my glass hadn't been ordered, he had to call the shop to get and update. I waited on hold for 13 minutes and 25 seconds and they hung up on me. read more

DO NOT USE FOR SMALL CHIPS. Had a minuscule chip in window. The technician told us he left the machinery on our car and walked away to grab something and suddenly heard a crack. They made a $150 fix turn into $1150 fix...and we were at fault because we signed the freaking liability waiver. Can't even begin to explain the nightmare this experience has caused for me. I really am reluctant to leave this comment because I always try to find the positive in any situation. However...The entire back glass of my truck got broken out. I scheduled carefully online, then followed up by phone. I described in detail what was needed and was assured the scheduled replacement was correct. I even called again, described the problem, and was assured the quote was correct and the appointment would take care of my needed replacement. This was scheduled on Thursday with appointment on Saturday. There were two other businesses that could have done the work on Friday, yet we chose Safelite. When I went in for the appointment, they informed me that "you made the wrong choice" on the service and they would not have the entire glass until Tuesday. I could see the possibility of a wrong choice if I had not followed up twice. Safelite is NOT doing the service as it needs to be done ASAP. read more

However later I realized that he had broken one of my windshield sprayers and hadn't mentioned anything about it. Awful people lied about my insurane, saying they would not cover it when they would tried to make me pay for it. Shameful when they finally came to do the repairs after they canceled my appointment and and made me wait over a week. The first visit by the technician was arrival with the wrong glass. The scheduled morning follow up visit never occurred and was pushed back to the afternoon and by 5:30 PM still had not occurred. The technician communicated he was running late but by this point we had evening activities to attend to. We were scheduled for a follow up visit first appointment on a Monday morning. At 8:30 AM my wife receives a call that the technician 'has two quick visits in Tyler' before coming to Lindale. She was promised she would be scheduled first. When the technician would not change to what we were promised I told him not to come. 3 strikes your out Safelite. Expected better. read more

Twice I have used them. The first time years ago the repair the did had a small leak but they came back out to my house within two days and fixed it. The second time they replaced my windshield at my workplace while I was at work. Them coming to me is a great convenience. read more

We had a small rock chip in our window, similar to the one that shows them repairing in their commercial. They said they couldn't do a thing about it. If that's the case, why was I able to get my local windshield repair shop to fix it?? Not only that, our neighbor, who is retired and doesn't do anything it seems but sit and look out the window (his field of view is our house) said the second time they came, they didn't even get out of their truck! My experience was horrible. My appointment was at 4:00pm I asked how long it would take they told me 2-3 hours. When the technicians noticed my car had the eyesight they were having a discussion on who was going to do my car. It seemed as though everyone wanted to leave early that day. I did not receive any updates on my car even though I had said yes to text message updates. At 5:30 they gave me my car keys and told me I had to come back because they could't calibrate my car, gave me a lame excuse that it was due to traffic. My next appointment was at 10:30 they didn't start work on my car until 11:00. When thay were finished at 12:15 I asked the tech (who was a different tech then the 1st time) why they couldn't calibrate my car the 1st time? He told me it was due to the hand held machine they use. The 1st tech used the machine Subaru's called for. He used one that has more and better technology. Sorry I do not remember the names of this equipment. In my opinion they should have taken the time to get it right on my first visit. It was an hour drive each way for me and I was visiting my mom in Texas as I live in Colorado. So instead of driving 2 hours to get it fixed, it was 4 hours of driving and on my last day visiting my mom I lost 4 hours dealing with this. They did comped my wipers Big Whoop! My time is far more valuable than that!!! read more

My husband and I have had to replace our windshields twice and have had at least two repairs in the last three years. The men here are exceptional! It is so hard to find good customer service these days but they knock it out of the park. They are honest in telling you if they think the knick will completely disappear or not and whether you should just replace the entire windshield. My only regret is not getting the gentleman's name that has helped me the last two times. I dropped my car off during lunch without an appointment and he was willing to work on it right then during what I assume was his lunch. I told him I would leave it all afternoon so that was not necessary. I will always use them. read more

I chose safelite because they were cheaper than anyone in town. They have had decent reviews so I figured I'd try them. I get there, they start on my truck and then bring me out to the shop. Thy proceed to tell me they won't put another windshield in my truck until a small rust hole was fixed. This is supposedly a liability. This is apparently company policy which was not disclosed to me prior to them taking the windshield out. Now i have a truck with no windshield. They wouldn't get a tow truck but we're moee than happy for me to drive off with no windshield and hour and half back home. Tell me.. how is that not more of a liability than putting a windshield in. I will never use this company again and am considering legal recourse. read more

So very disappointed to say the least. Safelite's "lifetime warranty" is worthless! I had my windshield replaced & didn't realize it was leaking due to an installation error until it was too late. Water poured on my feet while at a car wash & soon after the horrific mold smell set in on my new vehicle with only 17,000 miles! I went to the shop & they assured me they would cover it. In the meantime, they sprinkled Febreeze powder on my black carpet & said they would reimburse for a detail if it didn't get better. It did not get better! I called the store & they advised to get my car detailed but did not have a company they recommended. I found one on my own. The detail company had a very hard time getting the white febreeze powder out of black carpet. They quoted me $150 which I find to be an average price in our area. I turned the receipt in to Safelite & 3 months later, they have still failed to pay. I still have a faint mold smell in my car & really believe the pad needs replacing. However, I know Safelite definitely would not reimburse that! By the way, originally they did come out and repair/switch out the windshield but that was only after the water leakage damage. I will not use Safelite again. read more

Exceptional service and workmanship. We did a full front windshield replacement. Called in ahead to get it ordered. Appointment set up. They confirmed windshield arrived and appointment as scheduled. Highly organized. Waiting area clean with free beverages and chips while work is done. Special kudos to Jean Luc for his fastidious install and service. He patiently explained each step of the install to my husband. I observed the manager on duty, Jim, while I waited in the lobby. He was excellent- great mood, energy, juggled multiple customers at once, kept thing moving, explained all steps he took, and engaged in fun and purposeful conversation with every single customer. Had a cracked windshield on my wife's Tahoe, and not ever having one replaced chose Safelite in Tyler. I opted for the tech to come to my house south of Jacksonville. They gave me an arrival window of between noon and 6 PM. The tech arrived at around 1, and had the new windshield installed by 2:10. I was amazed at how quickly and efficiently he worked. I called Satellite to repair a chip in my motorhome. They were informed it was a motorhome and the repair was scheduled at my home. They could only give me a 4 hour window, so I chose the 8 to 12 in the morning, as my motorhome garage door faces west, and I knew the windshield would be in the sun in the afternoon. Well they did meet the 8-12 window... The technician arrived at 11:40! Also, as he drove up, my first thought was he's in a car! Where's the ladder he's going to need to access my windshield? I loan my ladder and also helped while he had to connect a secondary hose to reach tall enough. The connection would have been bouncing over the paint, if someone wasn't there to hold the air hose). The technician was friendly and did a good job of repairing the windshield, but I wish he had been better prepared for the job. read more

I scheduled a windshield replacement and paid for Safelite to come to me on a Tuesday morning. The guy showed up first thing and pulled the old windshield out, cracking it much worse than it already was, then realized he had brought the wrong windshield. He called in to their office and they said the windshield he needed was not an option for my truck. THE ONE HE BROUGHT WAS NOT AN OPTION FOR MY TRUCK!! They finally decided they were wrong but they did not have the correct windshield in stock at the Tyler office so they rescheduled for that Thursday. They called Thursday and said they couldn't do the job because it was supposed to rain and they'd have to come the following Tuesday. Now it's the following Tuesday and the truck has been down a week. The guy called this morning and said he had a job ahead of me that he had to do because that guy is "waiting on him from yesterday". He finally showed up here and said he couldn't replace the windshield without pulling the visor off the truck. The windshields have been replaced twice without pulling the visor. When he was done he said, if I want to, I can get some silicone and seal the windshield so it wont leak. They dont use silicone. I'll never use this place again. read more
