Wow! I am beyond shocked by this business and their shady practices. This was my first encounter with them. After our last sandstorm, my daughter's car ended up with a massive crack in the windshield, and now it needs to be replaced. I've heard and seen Safelite's commercials on the radio and TV for as long as I can remember, so when I finally needed a windshield replacement, they were the first company that came to mind. I called and spoke with a representative. She was very friendly and collected all the necessary information. She explained that because my daughter's car is a newer model Honda, it wasn't eligible for mobile service -- it required recalibration that could only be done at their Henderson location due to the size of the equipment. She asked if I wanted to use my insurance, but I told her I preferred to pay out of pocket to avoid potential increases in my premiums later. She then worked on a quote. After about 21 minutes of questions, she finally gave me a price: $877.82. She broke it down as $382.82 for the windshield and $495.00 for the recalibration. I asked if that was the total out-the-door price, and she said yes. I went ahead and scheduled the appointment since she told me there was only one slot left on Saturday. To my surprise, when the appointment confirmation email arrived, the total price was even higher -- $944.85. How did the price jump from what she quoted me? That's a $67.03 increase from the total she had promised. I was shocked and immediately went online to cancel the appointment. Afterward, I called several other auto glass repair companies around the Las Vegas Valley, and all of them quoted me less than half of what Safelite was charging. Most also said my daughter's car was eligible for mobile service and that recalibration was included in the price. I literally wasted over 25 minutes of my time with Safelite and their bait-and-switch pricing tactics. Very disappointing. I would not recommend them based on my experience. If you do decide to use them, make sure you're actually paying the price they quoted -- otherwise, you might be in for a surprise after the install. Oh, and one last thing -- when I tried to cancel my appointment online, Safelite offered me a $100 discount to keep it. So they raised the price, then tried to give me $100 off to stop me from canceling? What kind of nonsense is that? So shady. Although their customer service was excellent, there are plenty of other places around the Valley with much more reasonable pricing. Two weeks ago I got a chip in my windshield and went through my insurance (GEICO) since the repair had no deductible. GEICO referred me to Safelite. When I arrived, the technician told me the chip repair would "always leave residue" and strongly pushed me toward a full replacement. I specifically asked if the replacement would be the same as my OEM GMC windshield, and he assured me it was the same green-tint OEM equivalent. Based on that, I agreed. I followed every instruction they gave me: no car wash and no freeway driving for two full weeks. The first time I washed my truck--two weeks later--the entire lower rubber molding came off. On top of that, I could hear air and wind noise coming from the corners of the windshield. Clearly the installation was not done correctly. I contacted GEICO, who then contacted Safelite. Safelite refused responsibility for the damaged molding, calling it "wear and tear," even though it was perfectly fine before their replacement. Their only offer was to "reseal" the windshield. So now I'm stuck with: A non-OEM, inferior windshield Poor installation that caused noise and air leaks Loose/damaged molding that Safelite denies responsibility for. A truck that was in better shape before I walked through their doors This is unacceptable craftsmanship and even worse customer service. One thing that was a pain in this experience is that I had to come back a different day as the one windshield they had for my car had a huge scratch on it. I am thankful that they did not put it on my car but it was an inconvenience to come back. My Safelite story: Our windshield cracked on our RV & we needed to get it replaced. We tried to schedule an appointment using their app, but the system said they don't repair our type of windshield due to the need for specialized tools. That didn't sound right to me, so I called an 800 number. After several minutes of going in circles, I requested to speak to a representative. The recording said, "I can't do that." & hung up. So the Mrs & I drove to their office on American Pacific & spoke with Ramon, the manager. I asked him if he'd recommend a company to replace my windshield. He looked confused & said they do repairs & replacements. I said not according to your app & 800 number. He said they get a lot of complaints about that. We scheduled our appointment for the next day. Our technician, Daniel, did an outstanding job. He kept in touch, advising when he'd arrive & did the replacement in 45 minutes or so. Friendly & business like, he explained each step as he went along taking our old windshield out & putting the new one in. It was recommended I contact safelite to replace my windshield after a rock it hit it. I was forwarded to them via my insurance. My appointment time was from 12pm to 5pm and I was informed I would receive a call 30 min prior to the techs arrival. The tech did call me - 5 min out from arriving. I am glad I was home. As soon as he got here he had attitude and that is unacceptable, especially when demanding he have my keys without explanation. I told him I would sit right here and watch and he questioned me on that. Sir I have ZERO issues with sitting and watching to you take your sweet time replacing my windshield. I told him I was not informed when I made my appointment that anyone would be driving my car, which i was not thrilled about, but obviously i needed to have thr servixe fully completed Eventually the replacement was completed and he got in my car and rolled down the passenger window & said dont call the cops on me then drove off to recalibrate whatever needed to be done. I wasnt thrilled about that but I was able to track where he went thru the app on my phone But what really had me flabbergasted was his snarky comment about calling the cops. At no point did I ever insinuate i was going to call the cops. Clearly he has some personal issues going on but absolutely do not take it out on me or any other customer. When he returned from calibrating my car he said its $50 & im like ok where is my key? And I asked are you taking the tape off my car? He said I was getting to that and your keys are where you threw them. I did not throw anything especially in or near my car. Get out of here with that garbage. I also believe it would be better practice to explain that the tape has to remain on my windshield for a couple of hours before it comes off, dont drive my car for a little while, hand me my keys and then ask for payment. Maria at the front was my first impression of the whole establishment and she was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. I knew as soon as I started speaking to her that I made the right choice in stopping in. Angel Q took a look at my windshield and thankfully it was something that could be repaired at no cost to me and I wouldn't need to have the whole windshield replaced. They were able to squeeze in around other appointments and offered me water, tea or coffee while I waited. The waiting room was very inviting and super clean. The chairs were quite comfortable and the repair didn't take long at all. I feel good knowing that they were able to fill the chip and that my vehicle is safe from further issues. I booked on a Thursday evening and was able to get an appointment for Saturday morning at their shop. I had the option to have them come to my home that Saturday, but the window was 8-5 so I opted to drop my car off at their shop. Dropping off my car only took a few moments, but I also wasn't bothering with an insurance claim. I was quoted 1.5-2 hours for the replacement, but it ended up taking 3.5 hours. I was told that they started my car, but moved on to another car which is why it took so long. When I checked in at the the three hour mark they took it right back and had it done quickly. They killed the convenience of dropping off with this delay. My plan was to go about my morning and pick up before my daughter's nap, but we had to come back out after nap. Safelite Website: I inputted my car information and the requested a quote for a full windshield replacement. After that I booked my time and we were good to go. Originally, it was a small crack in the windshield. In between getting the appt and the appt date, the weather was extremely hot and the AC in the car blasting, the crack expanded to a good 1.5Ft. When I arrived, I was prompted greeted and a gentleman came out to survey the crack. It's large so he's unable to just repair it. The windshield need to be replace now. My deductible was quite high so the other option is to pay out of pocket. The lady in the front and the gentleman, I am so sorry I did not get their names, were so nice to work with me and to replace the windshield will be 1/3 of the insurance deductible. So happy. I've had two experiences with Safelite over the last two months for two different vehicles of mine. One experience was positive and the second was negative. My first experience was for a windshield replacement. Safelite had a mobile technician come to my house and fix it. He was on time and fixed it quickly. Very happy with the results. My second experience was today (8/2/23) where I have my back passenger side window replaced. I had an appointment to drop my car off at 0900 and came in about 10-15 minutes early so I arrived around 0845. I waited over an hour and started seeing customers come in and have their cars worked on before mine. I spoke to the receptionist thought we were not waiting on site and promptly had one of the technicians take my car back. What's the point of an appointment if they aren't going to work on your car at the time you have the appointment for? My time is worth more to me than anything hence why I MADE AN APPOINTMENT. Very frustrating. I would only recommend their services if you have a mobile technician come to your house, as they will work quickly. I scheduled an appointment in my home for a faulty window motor. The tech came out and diagnosed a faulty switch and not the motor. He advised me there was no charge as he made no repairs. A few days later my card was charged almost $300 for a repair that never happened. Getting ahold of the shop for a refund is a nightmare! The curse of living room in Las Vegas is the thousands of landscaping and earth moving trucks and trailers just spewing rocks everywhere like drunk chics tossing beads at Mardis Gras. If you see one of these vehicles with gravel jumping off their trailer you have but two evasive strategies: 1. Speed up and pass and hope to dodge any of the tiny meteors, or 2. Fall back as far as possible and piss off every driver behind you. I fell back, trailing the pop rock truck by at least a half mile, but a rock still nailed my windshield, leaving a sizable crack. I went in today to get my front windshield replaced, had an appointment at 11am I didn't leave until about 2:15 or so. Waiting a long time was not the problem. Once I get back the car I go to turn on my A/C and it sounds like I turned on an engine in my dashboard that's misfiring. I immediately turn it off. Had to go the rest of the day running errands with no A/C in 110°+. Got home and got to wrenching to find out this tool was left on top of my bumper under the hood and this debris was trapped in my blower motor from the old windshield. Luckily, this place is fast, friendly, and helpful on a budget. I'm very grateful for their work and their friendly service. Back in October 2019, I had a small crack in my windshield that just needed a repair/fill. Brandon took care of it quickly and Nancy at the front helped me get a good deal through my insurance!
