In July of 2025 I made an appointment and dropped off my car at the Safelite store in Mt Kisco, NY. After picking up the car, I noticed that the gel pad that is fitted between the new windshield and the sensor area behind the rearview mirror looked different. About half of it appeared opaque. The very next day the air conditioning was not working. Assuming it was not related I went to the dealer as the car was in warranty. The dealer told me that whoever changed the windshield installed the gel pad incorrectly and in fact damaged wires leading to the sensors which caused a short and blown fuse. Turns out that fuse also controls the HVAC control on the dash, causing no AC. After calling Safelite and being on hold forever I was told that the warranty people at Safelite would contact the Mt Kisco, NY store and I would receive a call. Never heard a thing. I took the car to my dealer in Danbury, CT and Safelite suggested that the Danbury Safelite store handle the repair. I insisted on an OEM gel pad as the dealer strongly suggested. This combined effort between the dealer (For diagnostic work that Safelite couldn't do) and Safelite cost me $564 and I was told to put the bill into Safelite warranty, which I did. A few days later multiple warning lights came on. A trip back to the dealer showed that the corrective work done by Safelite in fact did more damage to the wires behind the rearview mirror. After many calls and emails Safelite was doing nothing, a lot of lip service and always promises to call back which never materialized. We needed the car and after two months wasted I took it to the dealer for repair which cost me another $1091 for wire repairs and calibration. So here I am in March of 2026, a dozen calls and many emails later, still no response even after calling their national headquarters and being PROMISED that they would contact me, still nothing. I strongly suggest to everyone that you DO NOT USE Safelite. Their work is poor and the warranty is a joke. You would be much better served by using a local independent windshield installer. Oddly enough, Safelite is still the clearing house for your insurance claim with independents. They have their hooks in everything. THEIR SERVICE IS TERRIBLE AND THEIR WARRANTY IS A JOKE!!!!!!! Unfortunately I am unable to give zero stars. This location was rude, unprofessional and, most importantly, would not complete the job because they wouldn't recalibrate the system. FYI, recalibration is the crucial process of realigning a vehicle's Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)--such as cameras and sensors--to manufacturer specifications after they have been disturbed. This ensures safety features like automatic braking, lane departure warnings, and adaptive cruise control function correctly, typically required after windshield replacements, collisions, or suspension repairs. If not properly recalibrated, features like lane-keeping assist or collision avoidance may fail or act erratically. I had a cracked windshield so contacted my insurance company, State Farm, to find somewhere to fix it. State Farm provided a long list of companies who could fix the problem. I chose Safe Lite based on the fact that they are a name brand and the shop is sort of close to my home. What a horrible mistake. I made the appointment and Safe Lite told me that they could fix the issue. They didn't mention that they would not be able to recalibrate. If they did, I wouldn't have chosen them. They also didn't mention it when I confirmed the appointment OR when I dropped the vehicle off. I have been trying to appeal to my insurance agent and Safe Lite to finish the job so that me, my wife and my two young children could drive safely, especially in the winter months but I am not getting help anywhere. Who in the right mind wouldn't finish the most important step of the windshield replacement process? The car is not safe to drive! read more

My appt was scheduled for today 1/1/25 at 7:30 AM. I thought it was weird that it was scheduled for New Year's day but I assumed they know what they are doing and this is an emergency service so perhaps it makes sense. NOPE! They are 100% CLOSED and it is now 9:30 AM and the main satellite customer service number says "we cannot take your call now" after making you wait on hold for an extended period. We had an appointment today between 8 and 12. I called at 1:07 to find out where the tech was. After customer service tried to reach them 3 times they finally answered. Held on longer so they could reach the tech. Guy came back and told me tech had an emergency and had to cancel his jobs. I asked why I wasn't notified earlier and was told they were busy. Ok, that doesn't make sense because if you knew you're tech was leaving his jobs why even put me on hold to find him? Obviously just trying to cover. I made this appointment because I thought it was the easiest. It was not. Can't speak to their work if they don't even show up. I had already paid online for premium package. He was able to vacuum all of the shattered glass on my seats in the floor of my vehicle. they came right out to the house and I didn't have to do anything but open the car door. I'm not sure why there's so many negative reviews on here. My experience was amazing and easy. A pebble hit my windshield while driving on the highway. This resulted in a long crack across the top of my windshield. It even affected my subaru safety features, making me brake suddenly without any cars even near me. I filed a claim with my insurance and was lucky to have full glass coverage. I scheduled an appointment with safelite. They let me know that it was going to take about 4 hours to replace the windshield and recalibrate the cameras with the new glass. No paperwork was needed and everything was emailed to me for my record. Joshua was my technician and he gave me the 3-day care breakdown. 1- No car washes for the next 3 days. Rain is fine but all the sealants need time to cure and car washes are too much for the chemicals. 2- keep the tape applied on the windshield for 24 hours. They put my inspection and registration stickers onto the new windshield. They also helped me move the e-z pass and dash cam holder to the new windshield as well. Everyone was really nice and professional and I wouldn't hesitate to come back if anything happens to my glass. Very satisfied with my visit. read more

Their general customer service number automatically hangs up on you. I arrived on time for appointment. They do not make it clear as to where you have to go. So you have to double park your car, And then head into the shop. After handing over the car, I sat for 25 minutes and then was told that the glass they received from the warehouse was "'mismarked" of course, they didn't have any more in stock. This is for Safelite Auto glass 71-02 Cypress Hills St, Glendale, NY 11385. If you are using my review to see if this is agood place to use. In my opinion under no circumstances use this safe lite. After getting my glass replaced there. If you are in Queens NY. Go to the Long Island City Safelite instead. Even the employee who works for them mentioned that they are a better location to use. I had nothing but trouble in this location. If you use this place & If everything goes well then you are very lucky. In my case, they damaged something & were totally not concerned with fixing it. The Manager of the store would only talk to me through an employees phone, which means it's impossible to call him. He also doesn't answer emails. I tried calling my insurance agency Geico to take care of the damage caused a Safelite & all they did (over 20 times) was refer me back to safelite with the same totally not concerned manager. I thought that patience would pay off but it didn't. Worst possible experience. PS. I wish I took note of all the bad reviews. PS. I just saw a comment on my review "We're sorry for not delivering the experience you deserve, Frederick" This is not true at all. If Safelite was "sorry" they would have taken care of the problem. Let me elaborate on what happened. After leaving safelite I immediately developed a slow leak in my windshield washer fluid. Let me emphasize a "slow Leak". They sent me to a garage (they said they would pay for the estimate but didn't) that looked at my car for 15 minutes and could not find the leak. They garage would not hold the car overnight. If they did they would see that the fluid completely drains out over night. When safelite saw the estimate (for about $99.00) they told me that since the mechanic didn't see a leak then there was nothing they could do (how about another mechanic and holding it overnight!). Dont even get me started about this company and how they made a bad situation worse. Went to the Glendale, Queens shop in NYC to have two windows repaired after my car was broken into. Not only did they not want to do a mobile repair and made me come to the shop but they did an awful repair leaving my windows in worse shape then the original. It took several repeated unanswered calls to the general customer service number (the worst customer service) and getting into stressful encounters with the tech (Andrew) at the Glendale shop before I was given the option to have it repaired (again) at another shop. I went to the Brooklyn shop and what a difference. The lead tech Chris and tech named Joe were professional and let me watch them work where we all discovered there were glass pieces wedged in the window that were never vacuumed out, my rear passenger door was never reinstalled properly and there were missing bolts and screws that were never put back. It took three of my Saturdays to finally have this done properly (as the Glendale shop wasted my first two Saturdays) when it could have been done properly the first time. Man what a nightmare. I received a call the day before saying the had to reschedule from Wednesday afternoon to Friday morning because they need to calibrate and wanted more time. when I mentioned the same car had a windshield replaced prior without a recalibration the service person said let me talk to the manager and call you back. a few minuted later I received a text that they cancelled my appointment. I called back with no luck and then called the 800# where they helped me rebook another appointment for the next day (Thursday) the mobile tech called me 2:40pm saying he's running late and will be there 3:30/4pm I said fine, he NEVER showed! I called customer care and they said the driver called and no answer so he left and cancelled. which is a total lie since its at a shop that has three bay doors that are open all day and the car was parked just outside of the large repair shop. I called the the store in cypress and spoke the manager who cursed me out on the phone and refused to give me his name and threaten bodily harm if I step inside his store. so because I questioned them changing my appointment from Wednesday to Friday they took it personal and cancelled two appointments, I have lodged a formal complaint with Safelite. I made an appointment to have the windshield replace i came to the appointment and i waited 1 hour than the technician came out and told me that they have to reschedule me because the windshield they got was scratched. I got a new appointment for a week later which is today. My appointment was at 9am and i got in at 8:50 and they didn't started working on my car until 11am. It is 3pm and they are not finished. Disgusted by my experience here. My first appointment had been made on 7/27/23. I showed up on time with the appointment on my phone. I took off of work for this and expected it to be done. When I got there they stated that it was an "error in their system" and they did not see an appointment on their end. I showed them my phone and they stated, "I see what your phone says, but we cannot see you today and need to reschedule." No apology whatsoever. Ok, fine. I go ahead and reschedule for 7/31/23, which is the next available, and I have to take off from work AGAIN. I need to get this done and do not want a violation from law enforcement. I show up for my second appointment on time again, and I am told they did not order the proper part and need to reschedule. No apology, no sympathy whatsoever on their part yet again. I explain them the situation and they stat there is nothing they can do about it. Without any other means of getting this done I went ahead and rescheduled hoping this was just bad luck. I make an appointment for 8/7/23. This is the next available time they can take me DISPITE the previous 2 instances that was admittedly their fault. The best they could do is getting me in there over a week after their 2nd excuse. In retrospect, I should have not even gone back for their business, but I did as it was the most convenient location to where I live. I set the appointment for 8/7/23 and show up on time to it again. When I show up I am absolutely blown away. They state, "We have a problem with our system and cannot see you today as I was not showing up on their computers." I show them the appointment on my phone and they state they cannot see me today with as little of sympathy from their words and body language as you can ask for. How you can do this to someone and not even care the slightest? The lack of professionalism, courtesy and disrespect is truly disheartening. Every time someone has had a cracked windshield, that I have spoke to over the years, I have told them to, "Just go to the Safelite off Myrtle Avenue" for years. This is TRULY some of the most BLATANT disrespect and some of the worst customer service I have seen in Glendale in MY LIFE. They were not even willing to accommodate someone who is obviously being disrespected on not one, not TWO, but THREE separate instances speaks volumes about not only this location, but the ENTIRE COMPANY. I'm a man of patience but..... I'll try to make this short & sweet, the 1 star bought you here so here we go. I never leave reviews but this is warranted. My Window rear passenger quarter panel was broken into April 12th, after making arrangements online to schedule an appointment in 10 days to get the window fixed I was given email confirmation for a time & location for Safelite Glendale Queens 7102 Cypress Hills. I arrive & am told the wrong part was ordered. No quality check no personal apology nothing just an "Oops my bad, what u want me to tell u". We fast forward & days became weeks, weeks became months & still NOTHING at the time I am writing this review. Repeated calls to customer service were met with shock & dismay of the time frame & how long it has taken. The customer service representatives all 7 of them on different occasions tried & either couldn't reach the shop or was given the run around & same generic "will contact the customer it's on the way." June rolls around & I contact my insurance & they call the shop right away. Everyone in agreement that this is not only unprofessional but ridiculous. All that was needed was a little communication & reassurance, they were told the part was ordered but it broke in transit and a new part was ordered from the dealership & it should be here soon, & will contact the customer (me) in a few days. We fast forward another month & no contact. There's no way this shop is that busy. It's no way we're in a broken window pandemic & the world is in desperate need to repair broken windows. In conclusion if u stayed this long. I apologize for the essay, but I'm here to tell you, if you have the misfortune of having your window broken DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT GO OR HAVE YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY RECOMMEND SAFELITE (Glendale location). They even cancelled my appointment for no reason and then proceeded to blame corporate customer service. They showed no remorse with how inconvenient they were being with handling my appointment. Let's start with the fact you cannot reach anyone at this location through the 800 number or 718-326-0142. You don't believe me call the 718 number just as a goof. Took my 2023 Nissan Ariya to the Glendale location and was told to return it because the windshield they had in stock could not be used. I needed OEM not aftermarket. They ordered the windshield from Nissan and it still hasn't arrived (It's been over a week). I AM EXTREMELY PISSED OFF because I'm driving a vehicle with a badly cracked windshield which is a hazard.. The attitudes in this place could make a psychiatrist rich. Used safelite 7102 Cypress Hills St, Queens, NY 11385 Took automatic windshield rain sensor no longer works. I read other reviews that say they are bad at this and dont test before leaving, but now I see is proven true. VIN number came up with the wrong model car (the 2016 Smart ED is the same body as the 2015, 2016 Non-ED is a different body). Called in to correct it in quote. My "Glass Guy" gave a quote of $450. Safelite gave around $475 and they emailed me back with a discount code so I figured why not make appointment. Day of appointment: 20 minutes after dropping off my car into my appointment I was told they didn't have my windshield that I would have to come back (according to other reviews this happened to others with them and you SHOULD call day of appointment to verify you don't waste your day). Came in for new appointment date, they started about 2 hours after that on my car. There is one technician there that's very different from the rest, you will spot him easily. He likes his job and I would recommend insisting that he works on your car somehow (I didn't get him). What the other reviews say about them damaging the paint was true for me and other customers yelling in the lobby with me. I recommend that you video tape your car and then buy some metal tape before appointment. Tape around the windshield where they cut out the adhesive holding the glass to protect from scrape marks from the cutting tool. Maybe even putting two layers. Showed them the gouges after the job and they said, "there's nothing we can do". I don't recall my "Glass Guy" doing damage. I got good instructions overhearing the good technician talking professionally and courteously to other lucky customers that he was working with. My guy told me not to put it on a lift... Got home and cleaned up the black tar stuff smudged on the inside of the car. He did a pretty good job putting back the stickers and devices back on the windshield which was well worth the tip. Not great, would choose a better reviewed location maybe if I had to go back them again. read more

Alright alright, back on Yelp after a long hiatus. Let's get to it! About a month ago, my car rear vent window was broken into. Glass shattered all over my infant son's car seat. This happened on College Point Blvd next to Queens Botanical Garden in broad daylight. I called my insurance (geico) and luckily I'm covered! I filed the claim through the app. Geico does their window repairs through Safelite or you can select a shop you prefer that's on their list. I decided to go with Safelite simply I heard nothing but good things about them over the years. You are then given a option to have the repair done at their shop or have them come to you. I decided to go to their shop in Ridgewood since it's not far from me and I have things to do in the neighborhood anyway. I booked a 8am appointment, they didn't get my car in until roughly 8:30 because they were prepping all the outgoing Safelite vans with their day's work. When I got in, I waited roughly 45-60 minutes. The glass was installed and it looked as if nothing ever happened. The rubber seal work around the glass looked excellent too. No whistling or wind noises as I'm driving away. I also want to mention they ordered genuine factory glass from Toyota. Same exact tint to match the other windows and it even says Toyota on it. I assumed repairs like this would be ordered through a 3rd party manufacturer or some o plain generic glass but I was wrong. Safelite did it right and I highly recommend using them if you ever have a broken glass! read more

Guess what after all the trouble I went with them to get my windshield finally replace I sold my car to a family member and now the windshield is leaking. Horrible experience. Had to wait 11 days for an appt for a "technician" to replace 4 windows that were smashed, and the guy had no idea what he was doing. He dropped a bolt inside the panel after breaking the window frame and couldn't get the window on or find the bolt. Said he didn't have the right tools for it. Took the sliding door apart and didn't know how to put the regulator back on. Didn't bother cleaning the broken glass shards up like their website claims they do. Had to wait 2 more days for a 2nd appt (while storing my car in a garage for $50 per day til it was repaired) and they couldn't finish the windows because the first guy broke it and have to order another glass. They couldn't figure out how to get the door panel back on without ripping the insulation off that I paid to have installed and worked fine til they got a hold of it. They tried to say it was fixed, after I checked the door locked I pointed out that it didn't lock and the door didn't open! They took it apart 3 more times before they finally got it right. Left tape all over the body, barely vacuumed the glass up. Had to ask 3 times for them to remove the stickers on the glass. My third appointment is more than a week from now to maybe get this job done. Total idiots. Wouldn't not recommend. read more

BEWARE If you have a Subaru with Eyesight. Brought my car in for new glass. Showed up and the new glass was scratched so we rescheduled the replacement. Returned for the glass replacement a week later at 8am. Got a call the car was done at 12:30pm. Tech said he got real familiar with my vehicle while calibrating. I pulled out of the garage and the window looked just as bad as it had when I left it there. Turns out, they never changed the glass and DROVE MY CAR AROUND THE CITY putting 100 ADDITIONAL MILES on it for calibration. Nothing needed calibrating because nothing was done to my car!! Drove right back and asked what the deal was? Apparently the supervisor did not communicate properly to the tech what needed to be done. Thanks for the waste of time and pointless miles added to my car. The following day I return in the morning to get the car. Glass is replaced and they only did the static calibration of eyesight. The icing on this bad cake was leaving the garage again only to find my windshield cleaning line was pinched so I had to return once again. This Safelite lacks training in Eyesight calibration. It does not take 100 miles or hours of driving for dynamic calibration according to Subaru and another Safelite manager I spoke to. Take your car to Subaru and avoid a headache and wear and tear on your car. Never using Safelite again. read more

I wish I could give this business negative stars--worst customer service ever. We took our 2017 Subaru Outback here to get our back windshield replaced, after reporting a claim to Geico. They broke our back trunk hatch and damaged the bumper while replacing the rear windshield. They sent us to get it repaired ourselves at a body shop (bumper repair) and Subaru dealer (trunk hatch) and told us to bring the receipts and they would reimburse us. Obviously a total scam. We have been waiting and trying to get our $600 refunded for over 2 months and cannot get anything. They will not answer the phone or help in any way. I even have in writing their acknowledgement, but still cannot get anything reimbursed. I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and Geico. read more

My windshields got hit with a rock July 4 it is September 10 and dealing with Safelite I still have not had a windshield they have made appointments for me and had me show up only to tell me that they didn't have the glass or had the wrong part number last I checked the Vin number should have given you exactly what you needed after five consecutive appointments of either the part being wrong or them not having the glass I decided to go with another company and it was the best decision I made the customer service at Safelite was terrible they were less than apologetic for having me come there multiple times only to tell me that they didn't have the glass and couldn't fix my windshield and then had the nerve to reschedule and make me up an appointment without even clearing it with me to claim that they finally had the part. I went with a company in Long Island who had amazing customer service I transferred my claim from my insurance company and had it all handled in under a week I would never in life you Safelite. I am So disgusted that this company had the nerve to tell me there was a shortage on back order of my glass when this company in Long Island was able to get me factory glass in a week thank you National glass for being so amazing read more

I'm only putting 2 stars right now because I'm aggravated. They told me 1.5-2 hours max, it's now been 3 hours and I'm still waiting... F this place and it's SLOW ASS SERVICE. All I ask is to be HONEST with me... I could be doing important things... Okay so it ended up taking 3.5 hours. Cliff was very nice and explained to me it's because my car was small and they needed to make adjustments... I am not a complainer and understand good work is not rushed. I just appreciate honesty... my windshield looks great. I changed my 2 stars to 4. The bathroom was nice and clean and there's water for tea/coffee/hot chocolate in the waiting area. I went to Safelite to have my windshield fixed after it was cracked by a flying rock on the highway - and I was honestly shocked by how positive the experience was. First, the two technicians and the manager were superb people. The solved my problem in no time, even though there were a few tricky elements to it. They were super friendly too. Second, the appointment took like 30 minutes...that's it. They were ready for me when I showed up, they worked quickly, and they got me out the second the car was ready. Third, they made it really comfortable in the waiting room. The worse company!!! They scheduled my appointment for my glass replace, when I get there they told me they ordered the wrong part and asked me to come back a week later. A week later when I came they told me no one at the company has ordered the glass they have to move my appointment for another week. This is ridiculous. A company has no communication with each other and they never take responsibility for their mistake. I never ever recommend this company to anyone! read more

So with my first car, the window glass was broken. By whom I know not, but I digress. I found this business through a web search. Took the car there and checked in. So i'm waiting there for someone to look at my car. I keep peeking to see if anyone took a look at it. I see technicians walking to and fro' not apparently stopping near my car. The shop is packed so I'm trying to be patient and give them a chance. Finally I see a tech walk over to my car then over to me. I'm thinking he would say they are about to start on my car. Instead the guy says, "You're good to go." Wow, that was fast. So my vehicle was worked on and completed quickly. Looks good as new... A little patience goes a long way.. read more

Clement R. Went to to Safelite on Cypress Hills st. after the driver's side window had been smashed in the night before. I showed up about 10 minutes early for a 1:00 pm appointment. I was taken immediately. I had my 7 year old son and 7 month old daughter with me and they were very accommodating. The technician who serviced my car, Paul, was very thorough and detailed in his work and explanations. I actually saved money paying out of pocket rather than going through the insurance company. He made certain that all of the broken glass was vacuumed out of both the front and back seats. Hopefully, I will not be in need of their services again any time soon. But I would definitely recommend this service station. read more
