My private room with private bath was spacious and pleasant. The physical and occupational therapy team is top notch! With a well equipped therapy room and several therapists who work well together, my twice daily therapy sessions were super helpful. I experienced improvement every single day. To a person, they were compassionate, understanding, good problem solvers and really good at gauging the level of work I needed twice a day. We set goals and met them. They worked with my case/care managers and even helped with a safety assessment at my home. I found the food to be too bland. Because much of the population prefers it, the fruit is canned and the dishes are very plain. A salad is primarily iceberg lettuce and the veggies are often over cooked. A sandwich is just two slices of white bread with mayo and the meat choice (not even lettuce or tomato). On the positive side, there are two choices at every meal as well as an alternative menu of items available at any meal. CNA and nursing care gets a mostly positive but mixed review. As seems common in care facilities, they are under staffed. I never observed a staff member idling their time away, but often saw them juggling multiple demands. If I called for help on a nurses break, I often had to wait. Administration really should add another nurse. Patients shouldn't have to wait over 30 minutes for a response. I would say the responses ranged from 2 minutes to 45 minutes with an average of 10-15 minutes. These care home jobs are really tough and both physically and emotionally demanding on care givers. I have great admiration for 95% of the staff that does their job well while showing compassion and comfort in a stressful situation with people in pain or distress. Administration really should staff more generously for both patient and employee satisfaction. The staff does not grumble about under staffing and they apologize if wait times are unreasonable. Most of them are good at what they do and try to keep patients comfortable and satisfied. I did have a couple of care givers who shouldn't be working in this field and who did not provide adequate care. In each case I never saw them again so I don't know if they were temps or let go. I strongly recommend patients have a family member that stays actively engaged. Ask about the schedule and details such as how to get coffee at meals or between meals. Ask about routines like the schedule for vitals, meals, etc. Pet visits are allowed and I don't believe there are limits on visiting hours. There are daily activities for those interested in bingo, games, movies, etc. Carefully check the medication orders not only on the first day but a few days later. I had some unexplained errors that had to be cleared up with the physicians. Train yourself to know what meds you are taking each time and know what to expect. Ask if you are unsure. If pain meds are involved, stay actively engaged in what you are taking and how often you are needing it. I discovered that unlike the hospital, pain meds are usually dispensed only when requested. Don't wait until you are in real pain to ask for help. The nurses are good at explaining the options and giving suggestions. The physical facility is very nice. The art work and furnishings in common sitting areas hallways are worthy of stopping to look at. There are several sitting areas for residents and visitors to spend time outside of the patient room. Games and books are available. There are nice TVs in every room with a full compliment of cable channels. I'm especially sensitive to "smells". My visitors have told me they can occasionally get a bad smell walking around the facility but for the most part it doesn't smell bad. One final but I think important comment. While visiting with my family in one of the common living room areas, a quadriplegic man came up to us using his mouth operated wheel chair. In our conversation he revealed he had lived here for 3 years. He raved about how everyone had treated him so well and with understanding. He said "Now that my parents have passed away, this is my family. They are every bit as close to my heart as my real family was and I love it here." That's a pretty high tribute and almost convinced me to make this a 5 star review. I've seen many care homes in the past and this is easily the nicest.

(This should not have happened, because the driver neglected to fasten the wheelchair to the floor ramp.). The driver NEVER REPORTED the accident, and the staff ignored it. There is much more to this story, obviously, but not enough room here to write it all. Bottom line, I have tried tirelessly to get a call back from the current director (there have been 4 since my mom was there), because I would like a copy of her medical records. She has recurring ailments now as a result of the accident, and Prestige refuses to acknowledge anything. This was in December, 2023, and we are still trying to resolve the poor treatment she received. BEWARE!

Transportation to and from doctor appointments were reliably handled by the staff. Overall, good people dedicated to giving quality care to both acute and long-term residents as far as I could tell. I'm confident I was in much better health (especially my amputation) when I departed than I was upon arrival. The only major complaints I have are these two: (1) more nurses and CNAs are urgently needed for every shift because wait times for assisting residents in distress are frequently way too damn long; (2) the quality of meals is routinely subpar at best (not as good as hospital food!) and menu variety is monotonous. Frequent visits by a resident's family can partially help alleviate these problems. Well, that said, I very much recommend Lacamas Creek Post Acute facility even for my own family and friends; from what I hear you could do a lot worse in the Clark County/Vancouver metro.

My dad lived a rough life and he didn't have many belongings and the one thing of his that I had while he was in the hospital was a quilt and unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it out there to pick it up although it's something small it meant the world to me They went out of their way and used their own money to box up the quilt and ship it all the way to me that may seem like a small gesture, but that really shows they truly care about the people there and I hope that give people some peace of mind, knowing their loved ones were truly cared for.
