Dr Perilstein is a life saver!…read more 6 months ago I began seeing her during a very difficult time in my life. Quite frankly I couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel... I didn't have a day without crippling anxiety and it drive me to depression. Doctor Perilstein, with a large dose on genuine care and a small dose of comedy, began treating me. She quickly began focusing on cognitive behavioral therapy as a means to train myself on how to be "my old happy self" again. At this point, I have reduced my anxiety med intake to almost nothing and wake up knowing the day will be great rather than dreading opening my eyes I will end the review the way I started it... Dr Perilstein is quite literally a life saver!

Dr. Perilstein was the first psychologist I found in my adult life that I felt comfortable with. In…read morea brief span of time, she identified major patterns in my life that I needed to address, and gave me the courage and framework to face them head on. That was during a divorce. Afterward, in my next relationship, it seemed she got too attached to an image she had formed of my partner, and wouldn't allow for who I was and what I wanted to naturally evolve as my relationship with my partner deepened and where we started not wanting the same things, we grew to a point where I actually did want the same thing he wanted. But it felt like Joanne didn't think I was allowed to evolve? It got weird, where I would get anxious before my session and it felt like an appointment made to a weekly fight. A weekly fight that led to another fight with my partner. When I realized that, I stopped seeing her. I think she was great for crisis stabilization and getting me through a divorce, but I outgrew her when things stabilized in my life after that.

We went to Natasha some 6 years ago after some trauma to the relationship. We saw her twice a week…read morefor a year and I was amazed by the changes that occurred in my marriage. Natasha helped me see what my marriage could be like and what we both had missing from our relationship for so long. We both say now we wish we would have gone to her earlier, not just when our relationship was struggling but perhaps before we got married to gain the appropriate communication skills may have avoided the pain that we had experienced later. One of the biggest things that Natasha taught me was that we both bring our expectations and standards to a relationship and tend to never communicate those expectations and standards to our partner, instead using what she called "mind reading licenses" which only set my partner up for failure with me when he wouldn't meet my expectations or desires. She helped us communicate more effectively, set each other up for success with each other, and instigated giving each other several chances to succeed with each other. It's never too late to change your relationship and your life.
