Every cat/kitten we have gotten in aprox last 20 yrs even got a puppy once Sam, short for Samantha…read more(when she did a bad thing). This is the BEST place to adopt a cat or kitten. When I hear someone mention they are looking a a cat/kitten, I tell them of Another Chance adoption, tell them where they are located. Next time I see the person they say "m Thanks for telling me about Another Chance We got our next family member there" Then they tell others. The cat we have now is 1 of theirs & hope she lives forever, She follows me everywhere, sleeps with me. She is an inside cat only, Hubby built her a cage that she goes in & out thru cat door. That is only time she is out. doesn't try to go out thru kitchen door, she knows she can't go so she will just look. she is the BEST. She is6 yrs old now so she (I hope) has many more to go.

We adopted our kitten from ACAR last June at an adoption event. My husband and I found our kitten…read moreright away based on the knowledge of the staff present at the event. It was very clear that everyone working at the event knew all the kittens and their personalities and had interacted with all of them. We ran into a problem when we brought our kitten home and realized she began sneezing and coughing. She had a serious infection and we had to make several trips to the vet to get her the proper medication, but ACAR paid for all of the medication and vet fees. My advice to anyone considering adoption from this shelter would be to take your new kitten to your own vet before bringing her home and exposing her to other pets/small children. Our kitten is now happy, healthy, and a very important part of our family. We can't imagine our lives without her! An added bonus is that the adoption fee includes spay/neuter for your kitten, as well as all necessary vaccinations!

I attended an event at the Audubon Society in Falmouth a few months ago and the Center for Wildlife…read morewas featured for their wildlife education and rehabilitation work, so we decided to go check it out. It's a really special place--the species there are either in the process of getting medical treatment or have been deemed unsuitable for living in the wild. The welcome center has turtles and snakes and the habitat area outside is for birds, mostly birds of prey. There are some really beautiful owls, falcons, and merlins. When we arrived, they had a turkey vulture out while her habitat was being cleaned and the woman holding her was presenting and answering questions about her. This is an fantastic place to visit; it's possible to see everything at a leisurely pace in under an hour, and it's nice to know that the nominal entrance fee ($10/person) goes toward the excellent rehabilitation and education work happening here.

Friends of mine made reservations to visit this center for wildlife while visiting near by…read moreOguanquit (10 mins away) because of Covid reservations are required and a mask is needed. We arrived at our time and were greeted by wonderful staff members showing us to the community room for a up close and personal presentation. We learned about what the center does and how they help rehabilitate so many animals and take on animal ambassadors that may not be able to go back into the wild. The staff is so passionate and knowledgeable about these animals. We got to meet so many up close, really enjoyed the turtles blossom and lotus the painted turtles. The story on George the turtle that has a fractured shell and missing a front leg. Olive the opossum, Henry the porcupine and violet the turkey vulture! We had time to walk around the nature center to see a few other animals in there habitats before heading out for a private tour of the grounds where other animal are... the grounds are so well taken care of. Lots of signs telling you the details about each animal. Our tour guide stopped by almost every animal to explain who they were, what the ate etc. I loved seeing skeeter the squirrel, super cute and very active. Learned so much from violet the turkey vulture and how important they are to the environment. Visiting the center for wildlife was a great experience, learned so much and have a whole new respect for people that choose to work here.
