We were planning this trip for the longest time, it was the first time for me to be able to take a…read moreweek of in the summer and take a decent trip with our boat. We left Haverstraw marina around 6:00 AM on Saturday 8/6 and arrived to Pilots point about 6.5 hour later. From the moment we got there to the moment we left 2 days later I was nothing but impressed with the dock hands, the dock master and the marina. Beautiful clean bathrooms, BBQ all over the place, nice pool, brand new club house and all around great facility. I want to mention again the dock hands that unlike in other marinas actually know what they are doing! Also they were all very nice and friendly. The marina have deep water so I hat was not an issue as my boat draft 4.2 foot. We got slips right by the fuel dock and there was plenty of space for all 4 boats. The fuel dock is by far the busiest fuel dock I have seen. We will surly be back to Pilots point!

But have no fear, the operation is run flawlessly by professionals that love what they do & it shows. We have been enjoying the Connecticut river journeys on the Riverquest for several years now & learn something new every trip. Any cruise is a fun outing but we give high marks to the Old Saybrook lighthouse cruise & the Swallow migration cruises offered late summer, early fall. Several cruises do have tables set up where you can bring food & libations on board for a DIY onboard picnic while you cast a keen eye for vultures, osprey, eagles, cormorants & other water fowl, nesting hunting & feeding on the river. The scenery is wonderful. The ship is comfortable. 5 well earned stars.

We were only 18 people in the riverboat so each group had our own table where we brought our own food. They provided binoculars for us to see things. We saw bald eagles, swallows, egrets, swan, etc. The crew was really knowledgeable. He taught us why the mute swan is an invasive species and how they damage the ecosystem. The ride was quite smooth and the breeze at the end of the day was really soothing. We didn't see the sunset unfortunately. The neighborhood in the area is very quaint and cute. People are extremely nice when compared to NYC. They say hi all the time. There is parking nearby but you had to pay attention to the signs. I didn't so I had to look further which I didn't revert because we got to explore the neighborhood.

Despite the weather not being the best, May 2025, the islands were not crowded which is why it was arranged to go at this time! Greek cuisine deserves its own spotlight. Whether dining at a seaside taverna or exploring bustling markets, I was treated to flavors that celebrated freshness and tradition. Imagine biting into tomatoes so sweet they taste like candy, or savoring seafood caught hours before it landed on your plate. I will always savor the Feta cheese and the Ouzo! Had a terrible experience here and cost me in repair at another marina 12k. First the owner is a…read moreretired fireman and has no clue about boats so he relies on his mechanic Matt to do all the work.That should of been a red flag for me not to do business with an owner that doesn't do it for a living I have twin 2017 300hp Verados on my Boston Whaler and got charged $2,500 for a full tune up including both gear case oil changes,engine oil,impeller spark plug etc.. When I put my boat in the water one of the lower units blew. I took it to it to another marina and they told me that this happened because all my 4 drain plugs oil and gear case oil plugs where finger tight and never tightened with a socket wrench and my seals where ripped and never changed which is mandatory when you do a Mercury tuned up. (see attached photo) I had sea water in both my engines and both my lower units. When I called the owner Don of Guilford boat yard to inform him of what happened he got really nasty and rude with me and told me I was on my own and didn't want anything to do with it.

From the very first time I spoke with Dianne she was personable, knowledgeable, and very patient, despite our obvious lack of boating experience. Dianne took the time to ask appropriate questions such as: where we planned on doing most of our boating, how many people would be on the boat, and the types of activities we wanted to do with the boat--really getting to know my wife and I and ensuring we made the proper boat selection and didn't pay form something we did not want or did not need. Dianne also kept our budget in mind when making her recommendation. All the while Dianne was not guaranteed a sale from us but she treated us like long-time customers: always answering questions and making sure that we understood the specifications of our order before placing our order with Monterey. We are very thankful as well that Dianne suggested we place our order early to ensure we would have the boat in time for the next boating season. Dianne and her staff were very flexible. We were able to look at an M4, she had in her showroom, a few times before making a final decision. This is where we met Mike the shop manager. Mike was very personable, professional and just as patient with our first-time boating questions: from everything about the M4 to what we might expect during the Connecticut Boater's Safety Course. Dianne and staff provided an exceptional buying experience. She even helped us through the process of financing and insuring the boat to provide a real "turn-key" product. We have a little over a month or so to go, but we cannot wait to get on the water with our new home away from home and cannot express enough thanks to Dianne for making this happen and making the process very easy and relatively painless. I don't think a Yacht could fit near this dock, unless it was the smallest version possible. Mostly small 10-20 footers seemed to be docked there, but that was nice because nothing blocked the gorgeous view of the water and mountainous landscape. If you're looking for a quiet place with a pretty background, I'd definitely look into renting this place. Inside is very clean and well maintained.
