We had been taking our dog there for the past year for IBD and some other issues. It was a very…read morestressful time and we could not get it under control. Dr. Limpach would yell at us and tell us we did not know what we were doing and we did not, we were new at this. Well last week our dog, Kirby, got really sick so we dropped him off by her and she called me and told me he was really sick and anemic and that we should take him for a bunch of other tests, etc but we had already spent nearly $5000 on him doing test, ultrasounds, endoscopy, etc. and he was not getting better so I asked her is she would put him to sleep and she said she would but then she yelled at me on the phone that if we ever got another dog she would highly suggest pet insurance. So she was in the middle of moving the hospital over to the resort and she said we could come after 3 and see him and take him to get some ice cream, etc before she put him to sleep, well she didn't call until almost 4:30 and said we could come there and meet her back at the old office at 7 that night, there was one room left that they didn't take apart yet and that her and her assistant Terry would just throw is body in the freezer afterwards. I mean come on, a little cold room in an empty building and then proceed to tell us that they would throw him in the freezer? I understand they have to keep the body cold until they can pick it up but she didn't have to tell us that the way she did. So we just took him home and then the next day he got worse so we took him to WVRC and they were so compassionate and helpful to ease our minds that we were doing the right thing. So I texted Dr. Limpach later that night and told her that we took him there and had him put to sleep and she did not even text back to say she was sorry or anything!! I thought people that took care of animals are supposed to have compassion and care about the patients as well as the family. Then I put down $150 towards the euthanasia before we decided not to do it there and she is only refunding me $30. She said the office visit was $70 and a day in the hospital was $50. In the hospital????? For what? He just sat in a kennel all day until she had time to briefly look at him and they gave him water. I would NEVER take an animal back to Dr. Limpach if their life depended on it! I would drive miles if I had to in order to get way better care. One of the rudest and cold people I have ever met in my life.

We found our Max ( also known as Drift) at the adoption fair last Saturday at a pet store I read about on line. Leah and Mike were absolutely phenomenal with the process. They answered every question we had. $500 for the adoption fee was actually very reasonable, if you consider what they ( all dogs live in foster homes) have to do to feed the dogs, veterinary care, ect. WARNING FOR ANYONE USING HOMETOWN VET SERVICES FOR INTERNATIONAL PET TRAVEL…read more I strongly urge anyone planning international travel with their pets to carefully consider our experience before relying on Hometown Vet Services for time-sensitive international travel documentation. We brought our dog, Rayna, and our cat, Myah, to Hometown Vet Services on Monday specifically to prepare them for our move to Thailand. We clearly explained that we were departing the following Wednesday and that the international health documentation had to be completed, endorsed by USDA APHIS, returned to us, and then submitted to Thailand before our departure. TIME WAS CRITICAL, AND THEY KNEW IT. Despite this, our paperwork was not submitted to USDA APHIS until Thursday. During this process, it also appeared that staff did not initially understand that USDA APHIS endorsement was required. I had to bring the requirement to their attention. Had they simply told us on Monday that they were unfamiliar with the process or could not meet our deadline, we could have immediately gone to another USDA-accredited veterinarian. Instead, we trusted them. We paid Hometown Vet Services $365.10 for the examination, medication, and services connected with this process. We also had to pay another veterinary clinic $15 to obtain rabies tag information needed for the documentation. But the financial loss isn't what hurts the most. Because of the delay, the documentation will not be available in sufficient time for us to complete Thailand's remaining requirements before our departure. We have already had to find another home for our cat, Myah. We are now desperately trying to find a safe home for Rayna because I refuse to simply return her to a shelter. OUR FAMILY HAS BEEN BROKEN UP. These aren't pieces of luggage that can simply be put on another flight. These are living animals whom we love and planned to take halfway around the world with us. We planned ahead. We scheduled the appointment in advance. We explained our international destination. We provided our departure date. We explained the deadline. If Hometown Vet Services could not properly complete this process within the required timeline, all they had to do was tell us. We would have gone elsewhere. Based upon our experience, I would NEVER rely on Hometown Vet Services for time-sensitive international pet travel documentation. If you're traveling internationally with your animals, please make sure your veterinarian fully understands the USDA APHIS process, your destination country's requirements, document-validity periods, and expedited return procedures BEFORE you entrust them with your pet's travel documentation. I wish someone had warned us.

We have gone their before with 2 dogs and both times there was a run around about not having one of our dog's vet information (when clearly they had it because they would have not performed any past services if they had not) and very quick to tell us than we need to cancel the upcoming appt. without wanting giving us a chance to call back with the update information required. When I called back to let to ask them what their email address was so that I could resend it (again) and asked them to have their paperwork updated so we wouldn't continue the same issues, they got very defensive saying that it was me who was rude. The conversation did escalate and I am so happy that we are now going to another place. As much as we would like to support small businesses, the downside is this place feels like they can treat people anyway they like. My mother says the older lady is nice, but the young one who I had the displeasure of speaking too is very snotty! It's a shame the dog in question has been there at least twice within one year and they give us a hard time each time because they for whatever reason are not up to date with how they file their records. Bottomline there are too many groomers out there and in MY past experience I have always had a great experience with groomers, pet lovers are usually so nice....oh well this is on them for me writing this review.
