I've never reviewed anything on here before but I absolutely have to now that my dog Roxy Carmichael is gone. I just moved to Gurnee with my dog in April of last year. Roxy Carmichael was a twelve-year-old senior Bugg (Boston terrier/pug mix) I'd had since she was ten weeks old and she was literally my whole world. Roxy's health had taken some frustrating turns during the last couple of years and we had become "frequent flyers" at her previous vet's office. I was nervous because we had been going to the same vet for over a decade and I didn't know what to expect in transferring to a new provider. My nerves were gone within five seconds of our first appointment. Dr. Estrick and her entire staff are some of the kindest, most patient and professional people I have ever met. Roxy and I were regularly at Good Life about twice a month for several months and every single time Roxy was met with butt scratches and treats and so much warmth. She stopped recognizing this time spent as doctor visits and was pretty stoked about all of the attention. Unfortunately last month Roxy's health began to decline very quickly, and Dr. Estrick and her team had to help me make the hardest and most devastating decision of my life: I had to say goodbye to my best friend. I was a mess (and still am tbh), but they never pressured or rushed me or made me feel like an imposition in any way. They currently have Covid protocols in place, but Dr. Estrick allowed me to come into the office so I could be there with Roxy during the procedure. They let me spend as much time as I needed to with her in the room. They brought her cookies and pizza before the procedure. They gave us room to breathe and time to say goodbye. They arranged all of the cremation services so I didn't really have to think about the particulars of anything (because I was a sobbing mess). A week later I returned to pick up her ashes and they had made a ceramic paw print and some paw and nose prints with ink as well. They made a donation to the Arbor Day Foundation in her name. A week later I received a card in the mail with handwritten messages from Dr. Estrick, Olivia, Abigail, Meaghan, Dawn, and Karla. If I could give WAY more than five stars with this review, I would. Thank you so much, to you and all of the staff at Good Life, for what you all do every day. I'm so grateful. Stay safe out there.

My wife and I recently moved to Gurnee and chose Good Life based on reviews. We were immediately impressed with Dr. Estrick and her staff. Unfortunately, our 7-year-old pup, Franklin was diagnosed with Lymphoma a couple weeks ago and it escalated quickly. It was going to be several weeks before we could get in with a specialist, but Dr. Estrick was able push for a quick appointment. We ended up opting against chemo based on his prognosis and cost, but her efforts were still appreciated. In the past few weeks, I seemingly had them on the phone every other day, and they always made time for me. Today, we made the difficult decision to end his suffering. Dr. Estrick and her associate, Dawn, were incredibly comforting and compassionate. We are heartbroken, but I can't recommend them enough. When we muster up the energy to adopt another dog, we will certainly go to them again.

My name is Woody, and I prefer to get my care from Dr. Estrick and Good Life Veterinary Care.

Dr. Estrick and her team care for my labrador retriever, and I've been very impressed with the efficient professionalism provided by Dr. Estrick and her staff. Good Life Veterinary Clinic was recommended to us by our son who takes his dog there. We are lucky to have so many excellent veterinary schools in the Midwest, Ohio, Purdue, Illinois, and Iowa State, which is where Dr. Estrick received her training. Today Dr. Estrick and her team provided a complete check-up for our mid-life labrador retriever. The appointment was punctual, the Vet Tech Abigail quickly attended to the history and documentation, and Dr. Estrick did a thorough examination, took a blood sample, administered vaccines, cut toe nails, and took samples from my dog's ears and looked at them under the microscope to correctly identify whether it was a bacterial or fungal infection so she could administer the correct medicine. All the while, Dr. Estrick's tone and manner kept my labrador calm and compliant. Additionally, she gave me the necessary information to provide post-visit care. If you are looking to take your pet to a top-notch, friendly veterinary clinic, do consider Good Life Veterinary Care.

Great service and attention. Timely appointments, attentive staff. Prices are high, but high-quality care is expensive.

As a result of the surgery, our dog now has facial nerve (cranial nerve VII) paralysis! This was a simple surgery, and now our loving dog has this issue to deal with! When we took her back to be checked out, as her top eyelid was not shutting, her left ear wasn't moving or her left nostril, Dr. Dadkhahs only suggestion was to get an MRI - SUPER - lets spend $6,000 for what? I'm not saying Google is a good doctor, but it was more effective in diagnosing our dog than this "vet surgeon"! Just awful pre and post care! A good vet surgeon would have waited to do surgery Vs rush rush rush - to see if the mass cell would go completely which was looking like it was. Additionally, for someone who's been to school for this type of stuff, not to identify that she has facial nerve (cranial nerve VII) paralysis is just flat out DUMB!! Not only this, but she denied that there was no issue with her surgery. RIGHT!! If your dog needs a checkup - great place - if your dog needs good care - NOT THE PLACE!

The the Dr walked in with vaccines already in hand, argues with me about what breed my dog is (I've done a DNA test). He insisted I was wrong. I asked when I requested the appt for a nail trim to be included because my 110 lb dog is very big and doesn't like having his nails cut. The Dr made me wrestle him on the table by myself while he gave him his vaccines and attempted to cut his nails, then when I was exhausted and unable to do it anymore out of fear he'd fall off the table, he moved him to the floor and made me get down and wrestle him again... by myself! That cost me $18 and he wasn't even able to cut all his nails. Then Dr looked at me said "everything looks good he's a strong dog"! And left the room. Never once even looked in his ears, mouth, barely touched him with the stethoscope to listen to his heart and lungs! End result, $300 and I now have to go elsewhere to have my dog examined! I have worked in vet care for many many many years... NEVER seen anything so ridiculous in my life! Stay far far away!!! Forgot to add that when I got home they called me to let me know they forgot to add the cost of a test ($45) when they billed me so I needed to pay over the phone right then and there. So lesson here is they are extremely detailed when it comes to taking your money but done actually examine your pet or do the work to earn the $$. I could have administered shots myself... surprised I wasn't expected to!!
