This is my dogs after their grooming service.
Felipe P.

I took my dog here for the first time thinking that they were more professional and will do a good job grooming my dogs hair. I give them a photo of the haircut style I wanted and how long. When I picked up my dog I was beyond disappointed, they cut the hair soo short that doesn't even looks like a ShihTzu, the fur doesn't look even, it's all chopped (need new clippers or scissors maybe) I just don't have words to explain how bad this was, I will never go back to this place. I know I las for something really short in compare to the original photo, but they cutting hair looks very rough and I asked for clippers 4 1/2, looks like they used number 2 for the entire body. The shape of the face cut also totally wrong. I'll let her hair grow back and do it my self or try to find a better groomer. I wish I can give this review negative five stars.

My handsome boy before TABITHA butchered him

DO NOT BOOK WITH TABITHA. I honestly wish I could put zero stars. I took my Maltese dog to the groomer and set the appointment online TABITHA IS HORRIBLE! DO NOT BOOK WITH HER!! She told me that I have to come back before five o'clock to get him I come to find out that's when her shift ended. When I go to pick him up he is cut beyond short choppy and looked like she was rushing to finish him( Was four service). I asked for a call 25 min before he is done so I can get him. I called them and they said he was going to be done in 15 min. I asked what did she do to his ears and the girls said I don't know with out any help your groomer has left. They said she was having a hard time cutting him. My dog came out looking sick! Choppy. I asked for a refund and they gave me ten dollars off... which is ridiculous making me pay 65 dollars for this. TABITHA IS NOT EXPERIENCED AND SHOULD NOT BE HANDLING SCISSORS! The manager should have given me a full refund. I will be back in to talk to another manager who can solve this issue. Do not bring your pets here and if you do don't forget the name TABITHA. I don't know how she is satisfied with this completion of my dogs hair cut. I WILL NEVER RETURN.

I had left my mini schnauzer's hair uncut for the winter but he needed a touch up, especially around the wee wee (too much overgrowth) and also had a few matted spots. So we ventured to see groomer Jodie at PerSmart in Gurney IL. My understanding was that Jodie was a very attentive and professional groomer who always gave a great advice about the dog's wellbeing and was highly recommended by a friend. I'm sorry to say it wasn't the case. No groomer with common sense would shave off the entire dog's hair in the midst of January with temperatures in the single digits. The dog who loved playing in the snow outside is like a different person now, I can't even toilet him without a struggle. This grooming cost me extra $100 for snow gear to make my puppy comfortable outdoors again. We are first time dog owners, he just turned one year old. I would know better for the future. I wish Jodie gave us options instead of saying that all she could do is shave him off. We could have managed and shave off the matts only or wait until summer. Anyway, I'm very disappointed with the service. Moreover, my dog smelled bad afterwards, I'm sure the cages they keep them in are dirty.

This is my dog who was the offending barking puppy one year ago

Need to leave this review because this experience still upsets me a year later. I tried to do formal puppy training for the first time ever here with Lisa as the trainer. I do not know about dog training obviously that is what I was there for. My puppy was very excited by all the other dogs and kept barking. Instead of politely telling me how I could stop her from barking Lisa yelled at me in front of the entire class I was so embarrassed. She constantly made little remarks about owners or their dogs and always made sly comments to make you feel stupid for not already knowing everything about dog training. I don't understand how she has good reviews on PetSmart's website she is the absolute worst. If you would like someone who talks **** about you and your puppy under her breath by all means schedule training with Lisa!

Normally I have a positive grooming experience here but my dog literally looks mangy. Their recent grooming was concerning and I am pretty sure the extra services were not provided but paid for. I'll likely give it another shot with a different groomer at the location bc we've had great results in the past.

50-100 dead fish in one of their tanks
Jen S.

The employees who help with the fish section in PetSmart are horrible. I have a 20 gallon tank at home and have had fish as my pets and my hobby for almost my entire life, and have never seen this much disrespect. I came in for a goldfish, and asked the lady who was working for one. I told her how big my tank was, and she responded by saying my tank wasn't big enough.... for a gold fish?!? She continued to say that goldfish can grow very big, which I agree, they COULD (if they are in a lake or 50 gallon tank); however, most fish species grow to the size of your tank, and gold fish are one of those species. Regardless of this, I took a few pictures of one tank in particular that had over 50 dead fish piled up on the bottom. The employees quality of service to customers and their pets is awful. Instead of the goldfish I wanted going to a good home, he will likely die with the rest in a 10 GALLON TANK filled with hundreds of other dying fish. Which is sad. Don't shop here for your pets, shop at Pet Supplies Plus or even Meijer for your fish and their needs.

This is what she looked like before on the left, and after on the right thanks to Petsmart grooming. They hacked her all up.

I love the store and I took my puppy to the training they have there which is EXCELLENT! I wish there was a different section for the groomers. We told the groomers that my dog needed a trim and they made her look god awful. I was so upset when I saw my dog and I got charged $55 for it. DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED THERE! They said your dog is to wiggly. Really? I took my dog to someone in a Lake Forest and they had her look perfect. I'm including a photo of the job the did on her three months ago. I let her hair grow out now and she looks much better.

This is what my corgis eat.

The helpful employees helped us locate what we needed, the prices are good, and the house is clean and organized.

I learned of the Reactive Rover doggy school which was a drop off, 8 course program. We dropped Pepper off for half a day approximately two times a week. Prior to beginning the course, we did an in-depth interview with Stephanie to go over our concerns and Peppers needs. We were given a packet of exercises and after each class were instructed on what to work on at home. We also had two in home lessons once drop off classes were complete. This training made a huge difference for us as a family. It helped us all gain confidence, helped us manage expectations, gave us patience and some great tools which we still use to this day. Pepper has come a long way from where she started and we're so glad we did the reactive rover school at Two Paws Up. Definitely worth the money for us! We also took both of our dogs to a nose work class lead by Stephanie following reactive rover school. The set up really catered to reactive dogs as each dog was crated and only taken out for their turn. It was a fun class and both our dogs really enjoyed it. Two Paws Up facility is really nice, it's large and clean. They offer a variety of classes and times. Its been a while since we've been back but hoping to enroll again soon.

Carrie the groomer is wonderful. She does a great job with my dogs, Chochki and Pumpkin…read more Their kenneling services are pretty good. I like that they offer playtime walks for the dogs there. I'm kind of annoyed with their trainers however. When I first met Kaitlyn the trainer, she explained that Tops offers different training options for clients: board and train, day training, group classes, private lessons, etc. But after I took her beginning class, she absolutely insisted that Pumpkin has to do the board and train program. No way. I am not dumping my dog there for 3 or 4 weeks. Part of the problem is that some of the training methods there can be pretty harsh, which makes me wonder what might be happening to my dog when I am not there to watch and participate in his training program. Another problem there is the trainers at Tops act like they invented prong collars. They did not. MANY TRAINERS use prong collars. I currently train with Bill Balatsos in Palatine, IL. He recommends prong collars for most dogs. So does Jeff Hackanson, the head trainer at Dog Style Inc in Vernon Hills. The trainers at Lakeshore K9 in Highland Park also recommend prong collars. Tops didn't invent the prong collar. A lot of different trainers use them. If you want to learn how to correct bad behavior with a prong collar, Tops isn't your only option. There are other options, and they won't shove their board and train programs down your throat.

Finally decided to board/train after hesitating for quite awhile because we weren't sure if being away from us would do more harm. Wow , can't say enough about the training he received at Tops from Selena . He was boarded for three weeks and now we are a much happier family. He doesn't fight walks , does not bite on his leash and pretty much follows all commands . He is starting to play much better , no more counter surfing , jumping is improving. We definitely recommend Tops for training. The front office does lack customer appeal rarely did we get a greeting or can we help you . Most times we had to make ourselves known or we would sit there for a bit. I totally understood when they were busy but that wasn't always the case. Having said that we were there for training and our dog did improve so ultimately we got what we went for.
