Our mom is a vulnerable 88-year-old navigating a difficult journey. The staff are responsive, attentive, and compassionate. They visibly slow down for her when she needs it, speak to her with dignity and respect, and encourage her while continuing to push her toward her goals. They do this even on the busiest days, when it is clear they are working hard to meet the needs of everyone in their care. No group of people is perfect, and neither is Ocean View. But what we see every day is the striving. The teamwork. The professionalism. The humanity. We don't know whether Mom will ultimately recover from her trauma. NO ACCOUNTABILITY FOR ANY OF THEIR NEGLIGENCE/MISTAKES!!!…read more First night my mother was transferred over she was woken up by a CNA named Arturo attempting to inject her with insulin, my mother spoke up and told him the she had already been given her nightly dose of insulin at the hospital before she was transferred over, he ended up injecting her with 15 units anyway. My mother called me right away scared and while he was still in the room put me on speaker and told me what had happened. When I attempted to tell Arturo over speaker that he had given her a double dosage he cut me off and wouldn't let me speak, I had to ask him to please let me finish, he didn't, he continued to cut me off. When I finally had the chance to speak and tell him what he had done he proceeded to tell me that I was wrong and that "it was impossible" for that to happen. Also note that because of allergies my mom needs a specific type of insulin which was provided to them but they gave her another type of insulin. STRIKE 1! The following day I was visiting my Mother. I asked to speak to a supervisor regarding the insulin incident, I was introduced to the floor supervisor Luz. As I was telling her about the insulin incident that happened the night before she seemed unconcerned and not bothered. I also provided her with a very important appointment my mother had. I provided the date, the time, the name of location and the address. Because of the type of care and procedure my Mother had she recommended that the facility take care of transportation and told me not to worry about it, they would handle it and make sure she gets there safely and on time. THEY DID NOT PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION AND DIDN'T BOTHER TO TELL US ON TIME. We had to scramble to get my mom there and back. STRIKE 2! My Mother needed to use the restroom and requested help from multiple staff members, every time she asked, each one replied "let me get someone else to help you". Her nurse that day Rose told her to go to the bathroom in her adult diaper instead of helping her get to the restroom. Eventually my mother could not hold her urine anymore and urinated, it overflowed to her sheets and she was left to sit in her urine for over 3 hours! When we brought this to their attention the response I was given by her nurse Rose was that they didn't think that she could put weight on her leg. I told them that it did not excuse them leaving her in her own urine for over 3 hours and they should have contacted the Dr for weight bearing concerns. STRIKE 3! My Sister and I were bombarded with calls asking about her medical history, medication questions, instead of contacting the hospital or her PCP. It went as far as contacting us for a phone number to a pharmacy that could have simply been googled! Every time we spoke to someone they had a different story or excuse. There is absolutely no communication amongst their staff, directors, nurse practitioners, or Dr's. It is complete crap show! I decided enough was enough and called to speak to the facility director Jason. When I asked for him, I was given the run around. I was 1st told that I could leave a message for him with the receptionist, when I told them I wanted to leave a voicemail they told me that he did not have one it would have to be a written message, then I was told to call back in a week, then they told me to call back tomorrow on 9.23.26, and finally got told that Jason would be calling me back tomorrow. After a long day of back and forth phone calls that both my Sister and I had, I went in person and demanded to speak to a higher up "Director of Nursing". She was well aware that I was on my way. When we sat down instead of discussing the issues that I listed above and that they were made aware of, she decided to sit down and discuss power of attorney instructions as well as advance directives. I had to stop her and remind her why I was there in the 1st place. Again they showed that as a whole THEY LACK COMMUNICATION, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND EMPATHY FOR THEIR PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE, GETTING MY MOM OUT ASAP!!!

Alicia, the new director, yells at me on the phone, while being all sweet and smiles to my mom. Adrianna, from corporate- the regional nursing supervisor from Redlands interviewed my mom acting like my mom's friend, being sweet and nice. But she also tried to trick my mom and said she had the wrong date. My mom didn't back down. The next day Adrianna was incredibly rude to me. All of the 'upper' management, have been acting childish, immature, and wanting to pick fights with my mom and me since she reported the assault. Then they tried to give her an anti-psychotic (Seroquel) that she doesn't even take!! Stay away from this mad house. You'll be sorry like we are that we gave them so much money. But I'm taking them out of there and I'll tell anyone about staying away from this Crazy Town.

Since Loucinda has been MCD the building has improved tremendously. My experience at Vista del Lago has truly been beautiful and inspiring. I first started off as a caregiver but almost immediately was promoted to Med-tech. Being med tech and lead has made me realize my dream is to become a nurse because I love helping others. I applaud Loucinda and Marie because I know that being on the floor is already so difficulty and I can only imagine what goes on behind the scenes. Not only do they both work hard to ensure staff and residents are taken care of but they continually help on the floor when needed. I appreciate Loucinda for allowing me to grow as much as I have and continue to do so. I have learned so many lessons and skills I will carry for years to come in next opportunities. Although some days are very difficult, most days are very rewarding. Working in a setting like this it's almost as if you have 50 grandmas and 50 grandpas and that is truly incredible but challenging at the same time. You can tell all staff in the building truly care for the residents with there whole heart. Working with dementia definitely comes with its difficulties mentally and physically but our directors ensure staff are always cared for. Whether that's leaving their offices open with open ears and arms or buying staff coffee, boba or meals.

It was a difficult decision, but the Executive Director, Bree, and her team made the entire process easier. My uncle was a man of limited means, so finding an assisted living facility with memory care that worked within his budget was a lifesaver. We even saw a dramatic improvement in his overall health a few short weeks after he moved in. In fact, he raved about how good the food was (not something I expected to hear from someone in a care facility!). It was such a Godsend to know my uncle was being looked after and cared for 24/7. The facility was well maintained and staffed for the duration of my uncle's stay (he recently passed away.). I have to give a special call-out to Bree. She was amazing from the first moment we talked over the phone. In fact, after speaking with her and visiting the facility, I knew Hidden Glenn would be the right place for my uncle. Bree even helped me with the application and approval process while she was on vacation. Her dedication and empathy for our situation was amazing and so appreciated. We also worked closely with two of the nurses, Veronica and May, who were both stellar. May even took the time to purchase and read a book that was written many years ago about my uncle just so she could gain some additional insight into the man and his history. Talk about going above and beyond! I definitely recommend Hidden Glenn. That's what they eat.. my mom has no where else to go. Don't have doctor for facility. I've seen one nurse. Staff steals. I've worked in lots of different skilled nursing. People who are bed bound just are left in bed. They are human and should be dressed and put in comfy their chair and have garden to sit in. It's more or less a place you're left to. Die at. My mom can walk but is declining because all she does is sit there. I would not recommend this facility for my loved one. Worse I've seen. I can't get her out because I'm not power of attorney. The home is immaculate and the furnishings are much nicer than any other home that I reviewed prior to selecting Park View. I rarely give five stars to anything but this facility deserves it.
