Currently stranded on Star Gazer 54 since the night before. We have had problems with our vessel since day one. We have called numerous times for help, it's been 18 hours and counting, still no one is here to help. The engine isn't working, the fuel gauge is broken, we have no working generator and we can't seem to get anyone here from the marina to help. If you plan to make a trip to Lake Cumberland please use a different house boat company. This has ruined our entire trip. On a side note: The Lake is amazing! read more

Terry is clueless and a horrible person to work with nothing but a liar and false promises.. no matter when I had a contract in my hand but yet my cover3d slip was still rented out for the season??? Like wow.. also I've had a slip for years now but if I come down in winter or fall boom my slip was occupied evertime. My contract would state it was mine year around but nope he told me if I don't think your coming down I rent it out.. well buddy that's illegal and just wrong. Never again will I return to this marina the management treats u like dirt...I was in loading zone on side getting my boat loaded and he was getting my trailer hooked to his rzr to try to impound it. Just pure ridiculous. Very un professional management. The younger staff was great but clueless on how to fix the situation. read more

If I could rate it a zero stars I would. We had no power in the middle of the lake for all of the days that we rented the boat for, they never could get the generator back up and running again. The boat was filthy and it was clear that they had not changed the sheets, one of the bedding had a yellow wet stain on the sheets and one of the other bedrooms we found an old used condom wedged between the mattress and the window. While we had a fun time, I will most likely not be using or recommending this houseboat rental company to anyone in the future. We paid a lot of money for this trip and there were so many things wrong on the boat. Half of the lights didn't work, which made a safety hazard for us, especially up on the top of the boat when it was dark and we wanted to enjoy the deck and really couldn't. The back of the boat also looked like it had been wrecked, and so the ladder to get in and out of the boat was pretty much unusable unless you have abs of steel. With a pregnant person and a few women in their 50s and 60s, this was also a real safety issue and problem as we had to help and balance on rafts to exit the water. We paid extra for a hot tub which never worked properly. On the first day, we came to the marina and shared these issues and were told that someone would be out to check on things and fix them, especially the hot tub. No one ever showed up. We idled in the no wake zone for over and hour before someone came to bring us in, wasting gas that then we have to pay for, and we also had to wait over an hour for someone to come do our orientation to even go out. Overall, not a great experience for the amount of money spent. Now upon getting back, they have closed the dock (on a Monday, when all houseboats are returning since there is a minimum 3 day rental), so no mules can go through to help bring items up the 45 degree angle hill, not to mention no cars can go down to load. So we have 8 women- one pregnant, 2 in their 60s, to carry bins and bins of heavy items up this huge hill with no help whatsoever. There are exposed rusty nails where people are walking and power tools just laying out in the way of foot traffic with no worker present. Meanwhile the cleaning crew is walking around smoking cigarettes by open propane tanks (not to mention right next to our pregnant girl and regardless, how unprofessional) while cussing and talking about how drunk they are going to get on their day off on Tuesday. To call themselves "Safe Harbor" is a joke. Don't waste your money, go elsewhere! read more

Spent Last Weekend on a Stargazer at this Marina. We could not have had a worse experience with our boat. Before we even made it out of the cove where the Marina was located, the steering completely broken and it took the marina crew 5 hours to fix. The next day we made it to a further location and there was gas leaking out of our boat. The following day when we tried to move the boat, the generator completely shut off and we lost all power. We spent more than half the day waiting for someone to fix it and once they left, the problem was not even completely fixed and there was still more and more gas leaking out of our boat. Because we were worried about gas, we started checking the carbon monoxide detectors and there was only one working detector on the entire 6 bedroom boat. Others had no batteries, one battery and not the other or just didn't work at all. When we got off the boat, the marina was not able to compensate for any of the problems or the fact that we spent more than half of our trip waiting on things to be fixed. Beyond that, they still charged us for gas on top of our stay. Aside from all of those issues, the boat was just in terrible shape, unclean, and not worth what we spent on it by any stretch of the imagination. This was not worth it at all. read more

What a gorgeous lake! I wish I could say the same thing about the houseboat we rented, however. Just finished a 4-day houseboat trip with a rental of a six-bedroom "Star Gazer" houseboat from Safe Harbor Beaver Creek. To say the boat was old, dirty and in extreme disrepair simply doesn't do it justice. So many problems. Plumbing issues, engine issues, lights don't work, most electrical outlets don't work, dishes, pans and appliance were old/dirty/broken. Dead bugs. Broken window shades. Old, hideous curtains. And just generally dirty -- no, wait -- filthy is probably a better description. This boat is old and has clearly seen a lot of bachelor parties over the years. Before we left the harbor we went back to Walmart to buy our own sheets to cover the disgusting old furniture and the beds. We definitely didn't get what you'd expect when you consider we paid well over $3000 for the four night stay (and that's before you add in the cost for fuel). The people at Beaver Creek were very nice, and we had a good experience renting a pontoon (that's what kept this from being a one star review). I understand the adage "You get what you pay for", but that definitely wasn't the case here. I'd highly recommend the houseboat experience on Lake Cumberland, but there simply have to be better options than the boat we were given by Beaver Creek. It was not good, but when you consider the price it was simply awful. read more

A wonderful staff and courteous care of our boat made Beaver Creek a great stop on our Cumberland visit. They provide reasonable rental rates and are very caring. They helped with ice and delivered right to the boat. We very much recommend BCR for any boating needs on the lake. read more

The area is beautiful, there's parking, and an easy docking area. They have carts so you can haul your supplies to and from. The dock staff were very kind and informative, especially the gentleman who works at the fueling station(one of my friends tore into him a bit about some issues with the rental, and he did everything in his power to give us answers and was very understanding and kind). We did have issues getting responses from the radio but the area is very large and we were probably in and out of range. My gripes: the house boat we rented was a little deceiving. Our hot tub didn't work, but they reimbursed us for it, the speakers upstairs didn't work either so it left using the upper unit unusable. We had issues with the generator and some of our outlets didn't work. We did have a great time and enjoyed our rental. read more

We were late in the game to rent a houseboat for Labor Day weekend, 2015, & this was the last marina that had any boats available (should have been our first sign). Upon arrival to the boat we were asked to review the boat & make sure everything that was listed on the check sheet was there & in working order. Right off the bat, we were missing a door to one of the bedrooms in the front of the boat. We called maintenance & asked if they would supply us a door from another boat that wasn't in use. The mechanic wasn't too thrilled we were asking for a door nor for the suggestion to get one from another boat. He managed to find the door & install it to a hardly working manner, with loads of attitude to top it off. WORST PART OF ALL - After he installed the door, he made sure to tell us that if we used ANY toilet paper in the toilet we would be charged a huge fee to clean it. We had noticed the placard saying that any toilet paper that wasn't marine biodegradable couldn't be flushed or we would be responsible for any damages. Isn't that the toilet paper that was supplied to us?! A crew of 11 adults had to wipe & throw their waste paper in a plastic bag & carry it outside to a trash can on the back deck. How disgusting! In addition to the house boat we wanted to rent a ski boat to tube on. One of our guests reserved the boat ahead of time & on Saturday morning we picked up the ski boat. The ski boat worked as we pulled out of the marina - 3 of our guests took it for a spin while the rest of us took the houseboat to find a place to dock & wait for them to find us. The ski boat broke down out on the lake not 5 minutes out of the marina... Twice! Our guests spent over 4hrs trying to get the boat running, returning back to the marina two different times to try to get it to work/give it back. There wasn't any apologies for wasting over 4hrs of our vacation time & for giving us equipment that hasn't been serviced in some time. Thankfully we had the houseboat or we would've been stranded for hours before they even bothered to come pick us up. We wasted so much of our vacation towing a busted ski boat. Not without excessive attitude or zero apologies. We had a wonderful group of friends with us so our company made the trip well worth it and the lake is absolutely beautiful. The marina, however, was horrible. The boats were not maintained, (most of) the staff was rude & unhelpful. Save yourself the annoyance & book well in advance at a different marina. read more

Booked a family house boat for vacation and they gave us a boat that had tons of flies and dirt and sent us off with only one engine. In the middle of the lake engine dies the reverse doesn't work and we are stuck in a storm. The customer service is terrible because once we complained that they sent us off with ONE ENGINE they denied they ever did that. Such junk. Like I said NEVER COME HERE! also I failed to mention the pontoon carrying all the garbage of this place "accidentally" tipped over and therefore TONS of garbage everywhere in the lake. I struggle with how to fully convey my disappointment and concern with this marina. I would note that I have lived in a boating community my entire life, so I am not going to comment on stupid, unrelated issues like poison ivy on a shore bank or poor fishing conditions. My list of deficiencies are based exclusively on mechanical, safety and customer-service related issues. Upon arrival, our boat had not been cleaned. Trash cans brimming with trash. (By the way, they claim they do not have a vacuum). While that was incredibly gross, the 91 degree cabin was more alarming. The staff's resolution: "ya just gotta drop it a few degrees at a time". Thankfully, we knew that was nonsense. Since it didn't come down, they had to admit it wasn't working. At all. To top it off, we didn't have a hot tub. But, of course, we had already paid for it. Having none left, they offered to refund our money. Obviously. Unable to remedy the AC situation and no time to clean, we switched boats. Issues with the "new" boat: - AC worked approximately 50% of the time. But only when you shut it off for a few hours and let evaporator coils thaw. And never ever below 78. - Toilets are completely problematic. You cannot call it a toilet if you are advised NOT to put toilet paper down it. Without being graphic, just understand - if you are uncomfortable pretending to be a "bear in the woods"......these are not the boats for you. - Outboard motor completely exposed. Despite us pointing out that cover was missing. - Broken gas gauge. But hey, don't worry, they have a real fancy stick ya shove in there and see how much ya got left. Thanks guys....or should I say MacGyver. - Swimming ladder not attached - so it slams your foot between the boat and the metal ladder when getting in. We were lucky enough to figure this out when a child smashed her toe in it. - Missing screws from the slide & missing screens on windows - Inability to pilot the boat from the upper deck. No control function - On yea, and my favorite: motor's intermittent ability to start and stay running. Reported to marina with no response. Thankfully we got it running. When we got back, they said "yea, sometimes it's hit and miss" Last but not least, the staff could not work harder at DODGING their jobs. A direct quote from one employee to the other "ok. It's hot. I'm gonna go hide until lunch". And that was pretty much the theme. I fully believe these, and similar reviews will be used when this marina is inevitably sued and claims to have never been informed of these problems. Travelers beware. read more

We rented a houseboat for 5 days with another family. We had a wonderful time but things started a little rough. The young man that gave us an orientation before we left the marina didn't seem to know much about the boat other than to drive it. We asked about the hot tub but he didn't know how that worked. We paid extra and it never got to the temperature it was supposed to. Our boat was not very well-maintained. On the first night we had some electrical issues and called the marina at 11pm. The man we spoke to told us he called a mechanic and was waiting for a return call. He also told us that he was looking for someone to cover his shift and was hoping to go home. He said someone would be out first thing in the morning. The next morning we called several times. Someone finally came out after 11am, more than 12 hours after our first call. One of the men that came out told us we were lucky the generator didn't start on fire. Unbelievable! We are in the middle of a lake with 5 children and faulty wiring. They were able to fix the generator and it worked fine the rest of the time. Lots of wear and tear on the boat and they don't seem to do anything to keep them up. Beautiful lake! read more
