The window of time to meet them was short, but they showed up when I asked them to (driving from quite a distance.) It turns out my mom will go into assisted-living for a little while and they will help us more when she gets out. Their warmth and understanding made this difficult process so much easier. She was a RN at CPMC on Buchanan St. for 30 years and our insurance is Sutter Select. We did interview Hospice by the Bay first and found them to be VERY warm and informative just as we found Sutter to be. The scale was tipped as we have found ALL of our health care through Sutter, with the exception of one quack, to be warm and high quality medical care. I am EXTREMELY happy that we chose Sutter. From the first gal that came out to the house, our case manage whom is also our RN, the support staff, the aids, the Doctor just everyone has helped to make this horrible situation as painless as possible. I REALLY want to point out our RN as I consider her an angel that walks this earth. I don't know how she does it but she conveys JUST the right emotion at the right time. If you have cared for a loved one that is terminal you know how far the ranges of emotions can swing. So far, a month now, D is right there either laughing, holding us while we cry, being bossy and telling us what to do or just listening. So far she is always spot on!
