    Shrimp mole verde

If I go back to Tulum again, I'll go to Safari every day. It's this good! Shrimp mole verde is the best taco I've ever had. If they sell that mole verde, I'd buy a few jars! Fish ceviche is flavored with passion fruit mayo. Omg it's so refreshing! Their hot sauces are perfect too! You can but it for about $10.

My husband and I were in Tulum on our honeymoon, and our meal at Safari was really fun and tasty. We were staying at Cabanas Tulum, which is about a four minute walk from Safari, so we decided to try it for dinner one of our last nights! All the food at Safari is cooked inside of an old air stream, but they also have a bar, where they make cocktails (they also had a regional beer). It's a charming, hip, cool place to eat. The food was all good. We tried one of each of the most of the tacos (we didn't try the vegetarian). They're very small tacos - 2, 3 bites each. We also tried the ceviche tostada, which was great (among the best ceviche we had in Tulum). The prices were more than you would pay for tacos in centro, but it was a relatively inexpensive meal for the hotel zone. All in all, it was a fun place to grab a bite to eat! (I definitely instagrammed it a bit!)

So your in an open seating area next to a camp fire style grill. There's probably mosquitos swarming around you but the off bug spray offered by the restaurant helps keep them at bay. Time to enjoy dinner. The menu is on a small card, consisting of a few starter type dishes, several tacos and a dessert. We ordered the ceviche on tostada (2 count), the don't panic salad (quinoa, beats, carrot, sprouts), tacos- al pastor, fish la plancha, crispy fish, octopus, mole shrimp, and finally the chocolate tamale. The ceviche came on 2 tostadas. It delicious and a perfect sharing portion (for 2). The avocado and greens that dressed it balanced the acidity of the ceviche. The don't panic salad included quinoa cooked perfectly with a creamy texture (avocado?). The beats were soft and delicious. The tacos were all delicious. Such a variety of colors, flavors and textures. Also the crispy fish taco was one of the best fried fish taco of the trip. Probably the best taco experience (most expensive) of the trip too. The chocolate tomale was also excellent, although I was a bit skeptical. Creamy, rich, cocoa, decadent. This is the chocolate flavor you dream of. Pair this with a glass of red and your set. Bring a lot of cash or pay a 4% fee for using card on top of any tip you decide on.

Octopus, pork, fried fish, shrimp tacos! Last 2 were amazing.

Go right for the fried fish taco and the shrimp mole! Flavors popped and and textures were outstanding. The octopus was amazingly charred and tender but needed more flavor. The pork was our least favorite- it was slightly dry and not full of flavor. The horchata was refreshing and and not cloyingly sweet. Also loved the chocolate tamale for dessert. It was like a warm flourless chocolate cake but better. I just was missing the vanilla ice cream on top! Extra points for ambiance and wonderful staff!

We were staying on the beach in Tulum and decided to take a late night walk for dinner. The ambiance of Safari is great. There is chill music (sometimes a little broken if the Bluetooth gets too far), an airstream trailer nestled in the back(where the food is made) and tables both under a covered patio (with the bar) or under the sky near the fire (where garlic, onions, tomatoes and al pastor are often roasting.) The menu is a small card on the table and the options are simple. Our first night here, we got a la plancha fish tacos and my companion also got a shrimp mole verde taco. The tortillas are homemade, perfectly elastic but still with the textured masa feel of a grandmas tortilla without being too thick. The fish taco was so unexpectedly good that we both went a little wild. The slaw condiment on top is almost effervescent with flavor, without being too limey or salty. I don't even know what was happening in my mouth it was so good. The shrimp taco was topped with pickled and spiced red onions that were super tasty without being overly acidic, as they often are. I have never, in my life, had a fish taco like this. The flavor is absolutely excellent. The shrimp taco is very, very good. We came the next night and my companion tried the al pastor, which he said was good - the seasoning was great but the texture was not as traditional (one crispy side) as he preferred. We also tried the yucca fries (basic, the sauce is tasty...so good if you're wanting comfort food but I probably wouldn't get them again.) The guacamole was good, made with all the right stuff and satisfying...though not up to the level of the fish taco. We had the ceviche tostada, which was also good but came with a crema that I didn't like mixed with the fish...and I wonder if I should have ordered the Plato instead. My companion loved the mezcal, but I don't know enough to comment on that.

If you are spending any amount of time in Tulum, make this spot a MUST. The ambiance is great, the drinks are phenomenal (we had the mezcal margaritas) and of course, the tacos are the big ticket item. My wife had two Pastor, slow cooked pork (7 hours to be specific!) on corn tortillas with pineapple and cilantro - simply superb. I had the crispy fish, la plancha fish and the roasted octopus. Most people have talked at length about the octopus, so I'll just add that ALL the hype is real, it's amazing. Both the crispy fish and la plancha were just as good, so make sure you come hungry to sample as much of the goods as you can! It's cash only, like some of the shops in Tulum are, so make sure you bring cash (USD or MX), but besides that prepare yourself for an amazing gastronomic experience.

Great spot on the Tulum Beach Strip for a quick bite. The place is super cute and looks beautiful at night!! We ordered fish tacos. The sauce bottles on the table were super spicy and made the tacos taste even better! The food was fresh and tasted very legit. Service was friendly and very helpful. Perfect for a quick bite between different activities.

Awesome local taco spot with a variety of meats and taco shells, this was a hit during our trip. The octopus was the only disappointing taco, but everything else was phenomenal. Definitely don't miss out on the spicy margaritas AND an incredible chocolate tamal for dessert (seriously, get it). Service was really good and the price point was even better. Just don't forget to bring a whole can of mosquito repellent with you!

If I had to recommend only one restaurant in Tulum, it would be Safari! The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere and service is friendly. But most importantly, the food is incredibly delicious! I had the ceviche tostada, guacamole, and two tacos (fire roasted octopus and shrimp mole verde). The ceviche and guacamole is so fresh and I love the chips that complement the both. The star of this meal is the tacos! Highly recommend the octopus and and shrimp because both were cooked perfectly and tasted amazing.. I had to order more because they were that good. Whenever I am back in Tulum, Safari will be my first stop!

Best fire roasted octopus tacos I've ever had in my entire life. Also try the crispy fish taco. Delicious mezcal margarita (spicy). Eat here often!

We ordered the omelette caprese, fruit plate, açaí bowls, and a breakfast bowl. **The açaí was the best I've had in Tulum.** The açaí was so light and fresh, with a pure açaí base, not blended with yogurt or juice like most places. Adding a side of granola made it perfect. The fruit plate was great because you could mix everything into the açaí and my friends really liked the breakfast bowl and omelette. They also brought us teas in the cutest teapots. Open, airy, beachy, and super relaxed with super healthy food options. My friends and I really enjoyed our slow breakfast here

The mushroom is on point and the quinoa is a perfect supporting role. 8.9/10 The service was very prompt and intuitive. The atmosphere was nice and chill and I would definitely recommend. They were out of the filet so we were talked into the tomahawk over the ribeye. We requested med and it came out very rare. We had hem put it back in to cook longer and it was still super rare. We weren't even able to finish it. The sweet potato was covered in granola but felt more of like raw oats. Mashed potatoes were decent but honestly felt like they came from a box. I hate to write this I just needed to share bc the 5 stars felt over deserved. Vibe was there and this was the nicest restrooms I have seen all week. However the water for the sinks wasn't working initially. The spicy sauce they served was the best part. Drinks were also decent but small and when we reordered it was missing things the initial drink had. Just overall not impressed for the price. Ok just got home. Everyone is puking so I just changed the rating to one star. There is no way this restaurant has 5 star ratings, must be fake
