I was attending a friend's mom funeral, this place is beautiful. Huge at the interior. Not several parking, if is a big people attending it will take a while to find parking, there's one way entrance and one way exit, there's some one at the entrance to move cones when you arrive in order to get in. They show you where to put your car, for no blocking others, the lady at the parking was so nice and fast doing her job. The viewing salon has benches, they bring additional chairs if needed. Nice chandeliers, 2 screens to show videos remembering the life of the resting person. A little patio with plants, they have a pulpit so a pastor, etc, can share a sermon. I like this place. Additional rooms were available to accomodate food, people, etc. The building was clean and conveniently located. Thank you to Saddleback Chapel Mortuary in Tustin. Especially to the Manager Allen B. for his compassion and assistance from day one. He made the preparation easy and smooth for us. When my sister and I came to this place to inquire for the first time, it was a very sad and stressful time for my family. Allen was very accommodating and compassionate. He listened patiently while I was crying and venting to him about the possibility of losing our father. That time, our Dad was in a critical condition in the hospital. We had our funeral service on a Sunday, Allen was not there but he assigned one of his best staff named Tim to assist us. We were very happy how Tim managed our Dad's service. Tim was hospitable and so ready to assist whatever we need. We are all impressed how nice he was. I only hear good compliments about the chapel and their service from my family and our guests. I have mixed emotions about this place. On a good note, Steve and a receptionist were very informative and caring during our phone conversations when we were making arrangements. I appreciated that someone was always available for any questions. My family only ended up renting the chapel for a visitation/viewing and we did not utilize other services from the funeral home. It worked out well for us in this capacity. Cons: On the day of the visitation, members of our family including myself, were spoken to in condescending tones by THREE different staff members. Additionally, the manager had the audacity to ask for payment during the event even though I had already paid the day before. The treatment by the staff was an unnecessary slap in the face during our day of mourning. read more

I went there to pay respects to someone I know who recently passed away. The chapel was not big, but enough to hold the group that was there, and it was a pretty good turnout. I thought the parking situation was a little strange. You drive in one side and park one after another, sort of how you park when you're in Vegas and you leave the car for the valet. When it was time to leave, you were kind of stuck if you were sandwiched in between cars and there was no room to maneuver around. I felt that the embalming that was done on the deceased wasn't as well done as when my grandpa passed away. The decease's hands looked like Madame Tussaud's wax figures. The service was performed entirely in Vietnamese as the decease was Vietnamese and at first I thought it was a mantra, but turns out they are Catholic and they were doing prayers in Vietnamese. It sounded so soothing and calming. Since I couldn't understand what was going on, I just followed what everyone was doing. I took a star off for the way things were ran .... wasn't as smoothly as the other places I've been to under similar circumstances. read more

They are an amazing group of people. I trust them as if they are members of an extended family. I have had their help recently when my uncle passed unexpectedly. Having trouble with my family wanting to claim his remains. That would be my uncle's estranged family wanting to claim him without paying and most likely disregard his remains. So Allen Helped to facilitate communication between the funeral home that had my uncle. My mother and I were at a loss on what to do so I contacted them and the result is my family having the rights to my uncle's ashes. We will pick him up soon from Saddleback Chapel. Not only do I work closely with Saddleback Chapel daily, my family has used their services in the past for one of our loved ones passing. During the time my great-grandmother was resting there I had felt very comfortable and consoled while dealing with everyone at SB Chapel. They are very kind, organized, and I felt at peace working with them. Professionally, I work at Saddleback Flower Shop in Old Town Tustin and am in close contact with them. They are extremely professional, take extremely good care of their clients and the chapel is just beautiful. We too had the same experience. We paid for everything an entire week and a day prior to our beloved's memorial service. We were told if we got the check in right away - the ball would start rolling and they could go get the permit that allowed my father to be cremated! We then delivered them the urn - etched and were told they would fill it and to come back the day prior to the service to pick up the cremains and the urn. Well I called the day prior to let them know I was coming in for the filled urn and you could tell there was complete panic!!! I was then informed our loved one had not even been taken to the crematorium! Saddleback then goes on to tell me the man that is suppose to help is not in and I won't hear from him until he is in after noon! Keep in mind the memorial is the next day!! Paid for reception, flowers, priest. vocalist and doves! They then go on and tell me it is the doctor's fault for not signing the death certificate - we know this is NOT true as we had been in constant communication with the doctor and he was never approached until WE BLEW the whistle to Saddleback that nothing had happened with our father and the service is the next day! Steve made every excuse in the book as to why the ball was dropped - plain and simple he left for 5 days and did not give his "back up" any instruction! He completely does not care at all! Instead of admitting he dropped the ball and screwed up he circle talks you! I WOULD NEVER USE THEM AGAIN they completely dishonored our father by their unorganized business practices!! I am embarrassed and ashamed we left them in care of our father while they danced around at the midnight hour to cremate him! They are unprofessional in every way. Happy others had a better experience - super sad that this occurred to us :( PLEASE BEWARE !!!!!! read more

They were able to help me set up a service within 3 days of my mother passing and changed the venue within 30 minutes of the service as the guest number grew at the last minute. My dad chose Saddleback when my mom passed away in June. She died at home on a Monday morning and her funeral was to be the following Monday. By Thursday my dad was getting nervous when he didn't hear from Art at Saddleback. My dad left two messages and didn't hear back until Friday morning. By that time there was a possibility that we wouldn't have mom's ashes by her funeral and they blamed my mom's doctor. Little did they know that I work with that doctor and he was waiting all week to sign the death certificate. It was clear that Saddleback dropped the ball and the amount of stress that their ineptitude caused, during an emotional and stressful time already, was inexcusable. We were relieved to get mom's ashes in the nick of time for her funeral. I wanted to give 2 stars because of this debacle however I am giving it 3 stars because of the two young men who came to the house who treated my mother's remains with dignity, grace and compassion.
