The experience was incredible! The massage studio (office) is beautiful and inviting. Massage was relaxing and healing to my stiff muscles.

Where to begin? I have been living with very real pain that…read moredemanded to be heard. Recently, however, things reached a whole new level of "ouch" when I started to recover from wearing a walking cast on one foot that left me with sciatic pain and SI Joint dysfunction on the opposite leg. I have had 2 visits with Kelly Bash, both were the 90-minute "Weekend Warrior" massage. When I first arrived, I noticed the positive, non judgmental atmosphere, perfect for rest and healing! I was greeted with a warm pack for my neck! Kelly is extremely knowledgeable about physical conditions, anatomy, and massage therapy. I found her energy level and excitement to be refreshing as well. I love the fact that she truly loves what she does, and it shows. I would not hesitate to recommend Kelly or any of the professionals at Praxis. Enjoy a "mini vacation" and visit Praxis Wellness Center! I loved the private room, and I was fully draped at all times. Also, there are no "sales pitches" or add on sales! BTW: I drive 30 miles to get to Praxis from where I live in the Northland... that's how special this place is! Thank you Praxis! And thank you Matthew for creating such a peaceful healing place!

I am in Kansas City temporarily for work and I wanted to get a massage while I'm here. I googled…read moreseveral places but this one seemed to have the best reviews. Then after viewing the website it just seemed like exactly the kind of place I'd go to at home so I booked a massage with Matthew. Little did I know it would be one of the best massages I've ever had!! So i've probably gotten a couple hundred massages over the years (I spent some time overseas where it was affordable enough to get a massage every couple days -- man I miss that!!) and in half a dozen countries and I'm not kidding when I say this was one of the best ever. I got a combination rejuvenation/zen massage which was really a perfect balance of body and mind relaxation. There were elements of Thai massage, lomi lomi, swedish, and a little Matthew magic! So I left feeling great and today I still feel the benefits of the massage so I am completely happy with my experience. But that's not all -- I just got a follow-up email from Matthew that was personalized and included some additional information about an injury I'm trying to heal! I couldn't believe he took the time to follow up and send this info to someone who doesn't live in the area and can't really refer anyone or bring repeat business. That's when you know you are working with someone who truly cares about their clients and cares about what they do.

Fast forward to a few years of having received regular treatments from Jeni, then skipping out on…read moremy massages for a bit, only having them randomly. And now finally to a point where I am attempting to implement regular massages into my schedule. Jeni is the one who worked with me to get from the point I was at originally (lack of mobility, in a great deal of pain, and completely unable to relax) to a place where I was not only practicing yoga daily. But my mobility had improved, and my pinched nerves were only a bad memory. I let things slide for a long while. And needless to say my body rebelled. All it took was one long overdue visit with Jeni, and things were back on track. She is in tune with what each client needs. So you won't be getting a generic massage from her, unless that is exactly what you are requesting, & then I'm assuming she could meet that requirement. Jeni wants to work with each individual client to ensure that they get what THEY need from the massage. Communication is key in this situation. If you, as a client do not tell the massage therapist what you are needing or expecting, they can't exactly provide it. But Jeni knows the right questions to ask, & she is extremely intuitive and responsive to the different issues, & the anatomy. She will improvise if needed depending on your situation. In my case, I had some "problem areas", & she suggested some options for the current massage, as well as future massages that might benefit me more, & gave me the input afterwards for discussion. I get the sense that Jeni is genuinely passionate and determined to improve the quality of life for each of her clients. She does what she can to lead me down the path to wellness, even when I have been slacking in some of the areas that are essential for maintaining the zen, peace, and painless state I am hoping to achieve. My two cents for seeing Jeni, and any other providers you are seeking service from in your life -- COMMUNICATE what it is you are expecting from the experience. It is not their job to read your mind. Ask questions, speak up, and know that you being communicative will enhance your experience, and most likely get the best results. I did just that, and I am mighty happy with the outcome. My scapulas, neck, and calves are, too. NOTE: The location is nice, quiet office park, with plenty of parking in a lot. There is one flight of stairs to reach the space itself. Jeni is a one person operation. So you can text or call her to schedule an appointment. You will be dealing directly with her (no receptionist, etc).

Just an observation: So Kristen T. has 0 friends and posted a total of 1 review, while every other…read morepost on Jeni's page is 5-stars ... could that be fish I smell, or simply an obvious plant? For my own part, I consider Jeni a genuine star! Due to an ancient neck injury, current stress and frequent travel I have relied on fairly regular massage therapy for a long number of years. Dissatisfied with the uneven levels of service I had been receiving from chain outlets, I sought out nearby individual therapists via Yelp a couple of years ago, and Bodywork has been my go-to ever since! To begin, the environment is uniquely perfect. Soft sounds, muted natural light, pleasant aromas ... all bathe you in comfort and relaxation. Jeni quickly learns your preferences for background music, room temperature, pressure and pretty much anything else. She learns your body's joints, muscles and tension points, as well as reading your needs for each individual session. I never have to tell her where I need attention, she always tells me; I never have to tell her if I want quiet or conversation (I've even fallen asleep and snored!). Jeni is one of only two therapists I've experienced who uses cocoanut oil. It is certainly the best substance you could apply to your skin, and it's the perfect massage medium. It has a unique smell, and I've come to associate it most positively with the way I'm about to feel. As a favorite musician was recently quoted, a massage by Jeni feels "like bacon smells" and I absolutely LOVE bacon. I've referred all my family members and best friends here, and commend all fellow Yelpers to Bodyworks by Jeni.

While it is not cheap, it's worth it. You get ushered back to the bathroom to change. You have your own locker that you can put all your stuff in and lock, so very secure. Very nice bathrobe and sandals to put on and then you go into a waiting room. Very calm and serene. A couple of different flavored waters to choose from and snacks if you're so inclined. Waited in there about 10 mins (you can bring your phone but come on people - you're here to relax. Put the flipping thing in the locker. You can disconnect for an hour). My masseuse came and collected me and ushered me to a nice quiet room. She listened to what I wanted her to do and left me to get under the sheets. The room was nice and warm and I was never cold. The massage was WONDERFUL. I needed a deep tissue and she delivered. Within 2 days my shoulder and neck were worlds better. After the massage they take you back to the bathroom. I super appreciate that there is a shower. The only downside of massage is having that oil all over you and getting dressed again. Loved the shower - very clean and great towels. Highly recommend and will return!
