This was a fun and vibrant place to get a quality hair cut. I went online and picked a barber that was available at the time I wanted. I prepaid. Walked right in and the barber was ready for my son. My son is special needs and haircuts are terrifying for him. This was our first time, and the barber was completely amazing. He was calm! He talked through everything with my son. Although my son wasn't very responsive, the barber stayed calm and worked quick. I really appreciated his professionalism and compassion. I've been going here for almost two years. My barber is Cole, and he's great! (Oh, I am 61)... Anyhow, he's learned what I want out of my haircut and he delivers! He's friendly and personable - but he cuts hair and doesn't gab. So, it's pretty great experience. The shop is staffed and run by the "beard and tattoo" clan. They all super friendly and very professional! Being a lot older than them (and gay) I was happy to see how friendly and welcoming they are always to me! My partner also comes here, he loves it! I was frantically searching for a place to cut my brother's hair the day before our Dad's funeral. My brother is special needs and our Dad used to take him to a random hair salon to get his hair cut so my brother didn't really know how to tell a stylist what to do. So I called up Sacred Barbers and Jesse was so kind and was able to fit Jeff in. I told Jesse to just make him look good and that he might have a hard time explaining what he wanted done. Jesse understood the assignment! We arrived a little early so that my brother could get adjusted to the sounds and environment before starting the cut. When I tell you, this place is cool to look at. Taxidermy...flash tattoo artwork...gnomes, this place has it all! When it was time for Jesse to start Jeff's cut, he was so patient when Jeff tried explaining what he wanted done. He got to work meticulously cutting his hair and even trimmed Jeff's eyebrows which he'd apparently never had done before as he's been telling literally everyone to go see Jesse because "he'll even trim your eyebrows!" The cut was $40, which in my opinion is a steal for the level of service, the vibe and comparison to other barber shops. Normally i go see Carlos for a cut. Ive been seeing him since his last location. Cool dude, good cuts. Sadly, I will not be returning to this location. Went to get a cut on 06/19 which happened to be Juneteenth. The older white lady that works there had some choice words about the holiday to where the whole shop was able to hear. Not only did she very loudly express her dissent about Juneteeth being a holiday but as well as 'queer ass liberals'. Very strange considering half the shop and clientele look queer themselves.... Considering the political climate we're in, it was very inappropriate to have those types of conversations out loud and very dissappointing to hear as a paying customer. read more

I needed a haircut pretty last minute and ended up on the Sacred Barbers website. The website is clean, simple, and easy to use. From there I was able to pick which professional, what service, and what time I wanted to work with. I decided to pick a specific service with whichever professional was available and I was very lucky to have gotten Oscar A. as my barber for the day. Oscar welcomed me as soon as I came in and immediately started addressing my needs while setting up (where to put my stuff, desired hair, etc.). If someone were to tell me this was the nicest guy on the planet, I'd have a hard time not believing it because he was so accommodating and always checking with me to see if everything was good. He was professional and had mild tendencies of a perfectionist. As far as conversations went, I had a nice time talking with Oscar as he was working. I made an appointment with Jacob and while it was my fault and I was running late. I called and said that I will be late and he cited a 7 minute policy. I knew I couldn't make it because of unexpected rain and traffic and reaching there in 15. Instead of accommodating he told me he is strict about it. Also he didn't say he will charge me 35 bucks over the phone. That was complete slick of him nor did I know that he had my credit card info saved. After I called back he says the 7 minute policy is on the website. I have gone there many times in past and would have gone for many more years and made him lot more money, if he was polite and accommodating. His hair cut is okay but the snobby/slick behavior not. Update: Further conflicting statements from his reply. 1) If he offered another barber, why wouldn't I have gone for it it if I knew I will be charged in any case and I was half way from folsom to Arden. see attached receipt. 2) The comment of being late 3 times is a complete BS. How can you make this stuff. You don't need to stoop this low dude. Does a lot about your character. You got me fooled for the last year. 3) The very day of my first Yelp review I did get a call from Jacob and mentioned that it wasn't him who charged it was square which charged automatically and he offered to reimburse. Instead of following up on his words the slick behavior continued with the reply below. Jacob, I respect your profession, your time and your skill but not your character. Next time be clear when you will be charging someone or not. Clear and honest communication on phone and yelp is not your strength. read more

First time at a barbershop ever in life. I had a grown out pixie cut and I saw some pics of two female clients with the same. I needed mine trimmed down from the back and sides because it was uneven and overgrown compared to the rest. I don't know much about short hair cuts and styles because I haven't had it short for over a decade and so it was hard for me to articulate what I needed aside from how I just did on this paragraph. He described what was going to do. It was hard for me to visualize any of it because I'm not familiar with electric razor type of cuts and styles so I didn't know how to answer what he was asking. I trusted his expertise and told him do what you think is going to look good on me (as long as it looks better right?) As he turned me around I caught a glimpse from the mirror across and i realized I went from Betty Boop to Kim Jung Un and I wasn't sure how it was going to progress. Once he was down I looked and the top was a lot longer than the rest with no transitions. I didn't like it so I told him to cut it shorter which he did. Still didn't like it but at this point I did not have enough hair left to fix so I paid and left. The establishment is trendy and nice, they were playing indie rock which is my genre and I was offered a shot or a beer, I declined so not sure the selection. The staff were nice and friendly and and every thing was great except the actual cut which was sad because I paid a lot and then had to go home and have my friend fix it. I will try this place again but maybe choose a female barber since the cut I got was very masculine (i legit got a flat top, my friends and co workers were concerned) and didn't look right for my face or style and there were a lot of uneven spots on the side of my head. read more

He's the best barber in Sacramento (seriously, if you're looking for a barber book with him - can't miss), so I had to give his new shop a shot. And I'm so glad I did! It's a great, fun, relaxing environment and fairly priced. All of the barbers know their stuff. They also use some of the best products I've experienced, too. The haircut was great. I went there twice and have no complaints there. What's stopping me from returning might be no big deal to some, but to me it matters. On the bottom of each chair is a carefully and artfully made sign that says, "This is not a F&$#ING step!" I guess the owner was frustrated that people were breaking/damaging some of the vintage barber chairs. Well, I don't appreciate being yelled at upon entering a business for the first time. I also don't appreciate profanity being lobbed at me repeatedly as I sit in the chair and have to stare at that. I don't have sons, but if I did, I couldn't take them in here in good conscience. Like I said, it might not matter to most, but it's enough to keep me looking for a barber that will be my go to for at least the next decade. As long as those signs are there, this one isn't going to be it. Too bad because the haircut, barber, and everything else were perfectly nice. read more

Had a great experience for my first cut at Sacred. Had driven by a couple few times and the place definitely has a tattoo parlor vibe that might turn folks off. But I have no ink and they couldn't be more welcoming upon entering the establishment. Scheduled with Cole the day before via their online system, which was super easy. I didn't know any of the barbers/stylists from Adam so just chose the first person listed. Cole was chill, friendly, and hooked me up. Went in for a haircut and went for the beard trim, too.
