"For A Good Time Without Your (Normal) Clothes On!"
SITREP
I LOVE artistic expression! Typically, it finds itself through more "traditional" avenues of the visual arts, of music and of dance. But there's a LOT to be said nowadays about artistic expression via Comic Cons such as the ones we have in Sacramento.
Not that costumes, and Halloween, and costume & masquerade balls have not been part of our social landscape. In fact, here in Sacramento, we have Year-Round-Costume-Stores (such as Evangeline's Costume Mansion in Old Sacramento) that ENCOURAGE this trend!
COMIC CON
And at Sacramento Comic Con ("Comic Con"), you get to see ALL KINDS of fun costumes:

A NEW SOCIAL PHENOMENON
But this 21st Century, step aside generation "Traditionals", "Baby Boomers, and "Xers", because now we've seen a rather NEW boldness with the "Millennials" who have influenced this "acceptability" to dress up as their favorite comic books heros, fairy princesses, or just to be in a "furry" outfit - with full-on tails AND ears AND fangs AND....on & on & on......in the middle of August, with the HEAT.
Bottom-Line: it's okay to dress up in public, NO MATTER what time of year it is, and people are OKAY with that (finally) - because now that the millennials are having their OWN children - and dressing THEM up, mind you - they are making the NEW SOCIAL CUSTOMS where costumes are involved.
COMIC CONS
So enter Sacramento Comic Con which is an extension of this fervent trend for exploring that expressive side of you. And personally, I have to applaud the good work that the organizers of Comic Con have done: providing a very fun, very constructive outlet for kids of ALL shapes & stripes to express THEMselves.
* Gone are the days where it was only acceptable for little girls, with psychotic-crazed mothers, to be entered into beauty pageants as the only means for a youngster to be expressive.
* No longer is it just for the high school "Cool Kids", "Mean Girls", "Jocks" to be allowed to exhibit themselves in public through competitive sports, and cheerleading.
Now ANY kid can find personal resonance with a character, or with a "look", and share that to the rest of the world in a "safe environment" where they won't be harassed or ridiculed by the douchebags & bitches in school. And for that, I'm grateful.
THE LOWDOWN
You're doing a great thing for today's youth, Comic Con!
