Cute little chipmunks coming to share a meal with you.

We stopped here for a night while on the way to Bar Harbor. The spots are nice and clean. Easy to get in and amenities are easy to hook up. The shower room near the office did not have a curtain and my clothes and tennis shoes got wet :( They have a little place called the Merry Moose to get food. Staff was friendly. We had the blueberry, plain with strawberry and whip and chocolate pancakes. They were good. They were out of milk (which is sad for eating pancakes) also for you 2 cups of coffee people like me there is no refills so bring a little extra to pay for that second cup.

Full hookup site, at Saco/Old Orchard Beach KOA.

We loved Saco Old Orchard Beach KOA, camp ground is Quiet mostly tucked in the trees, and very well run. Short trip north to Portland, Maine. The Merry Moose community area had good food and fun activities. Outstanding camp ground for kids and adults.

    Busy and very noisy road

We paid about $100 per night for a relaxing camping experience. We were out right next to a busy and very noisy road. I have never been so disappointed in a campsite. They were sold out so we didn't bother to complain but this is terrible. No security gate or anything in the front section of the campground and you are right next to the road! We were so close to the car dealership we should have just asked them if we could park there. This was not camping!

I don't know what some of these bad reviews are about but we stayed a day and night on our way to Bar Harbor and it was great! The bathrooms we used were spotless and everyone was so nice to us. Great area for kids there is an amusement park right down the road and plenty of places to eat. We even went to see a movie because it was raining. If we are in this area again we will definitely be staying here again.

We will be seeking compensation for those damages. They broke dishes, caused the pantry door to fly open and all our groceries to fall out ruined.). This place is not well-maintained at all. The sites are practically on top of each other. There is no room to set up anything. Anything you need to do here is an additional charge. The bathrooms are sweltering and full of bugs (Who builds a campsite next to a swamp?!). There never seems to be anyone in the office during the business hours they claim, and those are only 1-7:00PM. It's brilliant on their part. Checkout is two hours before the office opens, so you won't be able to complain or get anything handled before you leave. Forget getting firewood, but that's OK, 'cause there is no room for a campfire anyway. You're not allowed to actually use the trashcans or dumpster for normal travel waste, by the way. Signs say no food or beverages, food containers, etc. This place is unbelievably cramped and crowded with not nearly enough facilities for this many people. The seasonal people are unbelievably rude to the short term stay folks (no idea why). And there truly odd people wandering around in the middle of the night. No kids is a plus for noise, but I'd rather have kids disrupting the quiet than relentless, massive, swamp bugs. Also, they allow dogs.. bark all night, yap all day, untrained, loud, sometimes leashed dogs. Avoid. You are better off at a truck stop, rest area or parking lot. We will be requiring a refund as well as compensation for the damages to our motorhome and belongings. But since the operators make sure to not be available, we'll have to seek our reimbursement/refund when we get home.

Years ago the fields that now have trailers and rows of roads where once strawberry fields.. yes, years ago... The Bachelders worked very hard to have one of the nicest trailer parks in wells and If not southern Maine. Mr B and Mrs B started a great summer place and Mark and Sandi with the hard work of there sons and significant others continue the charge. Reading reviews of disgruntled yelpers all I can say is read your contract before signing it. There's no hidden agenda. Everything is spelled out and always has been on how the park is and how its run. It's a family park and a friendly park. If people dont abide by the rules then they will be delt with in the best way possible. As I remember alcohol was the only thing I can remember over the 30 years I was there that caused problems but where delt with professionally and swiftly by park management. When your in a trailer setting like beach acres and your a seasonal or daily renter you have to be respectful and neighborly to all around you. They have camp rules for a reason. To make things nice for all involved. In mine and my famlies 30 plus years there we met fantastic people and we gained lifelong friends and that even included the wonderful people who run Beach acres. They have a great business because generally there's a waiting list to get in there. Unfortunately my folks passed last year but the best days of my parents lives as well as my extended family was at beach acres. We have the best memories ever. They had rules then and my whole family abided by them whether it was for a day,a weekend,a week or a whole season. I'm glad we had the privilege of doing business with such a great family business. My parting comment to yelpers if you want to go here for however long.....know the rules and fully read and understand there contract if your a seasonal renter. There's no hidden secrets..Its just pretty straight forward... 3 sets of my extended family where seasonal renters and we never once had a issue or a problem. because we knew there contract and we new the park rules. It's a beautiful place to get a way and make great memories....Go and have fun ! And be respectful !!! PS..The store and office staff where always the friendliest and best !

We stayed at this location as Thousand Trails members. Unfortunately all the regional transient…read moresites were taken but they were able to accommodate us with a site in the back amongst the seasonals. Our site was large but since it had been a former seasonal site the hookups were located in the back and we couldn't back up to them. The layout of the site meant we had to park lengthwise across it. However this is an OLD RV park with tons of sites crammed together. The roads are also narrow and need maintenance. This meant getting our camper positioned was extremely challenging. Although our site was fairly large it was completely unmaintained. When the seasonal camper that previously occupied the site was moved out no effort was made to clean it up. There was sections of gravel and some what were dirt, trash was in the fire ring, dog feces left on the gravel, large holes were everywhere and near the back old electrical wires had been dug out of the ground and were strewn everywhere. This was disheartening to see. The campground in extremely large but probably 95% of it are seasonal campers. Some of them maintain their sites beautifully and others look absolutely awful. We were there over the weekend and both nights we could hear parties going on until 1am - 2am. On one occasion we were out walking our dogs a little after midnight and golf carts were racing by us and people were yelling out from them to other campers sitting outside. Never once did we see security patrolling and we were told by someone who had been there for years that security goes home at midnight and even before then they never address anything. They have 3 pools but one was closed and looked like a swamp that was just a breeding ground for mosquitoes. According to some of the regulars the past few years there has always been at least one pool closed due to some issue or another. There also seems to be a drainage issue. It has been rainy in the northeast the past month but we saw many sites that were total mud pits and lots on standing water with nowhere to go. I'm not surprised the mosquitoes were so bad while we were there. On the positive side we've stayed at over a hundred campgrounds and by far the seasonals here were the friendliest. Not only were our neighbors for the weekend extremely welcoming so was everyone else. While walking our dogs everyone would stop and say hi to them and chat with us. Also the staff was very nice. Greg was the staff member who showed us to our site and he checked in on us the following day and even made a point to come over to say goodbye when he saw us near the office checking out. I also bumped into an former coworker of mine (Kathy G) who works in the office here which was a pleasant surprise and she was as friendly and helpful as I remembered her to be. The owners and management have a real potential gem with this park. However it's going to take a large cash infusion to clean it up, make it more big rig friendly, hire a good amount of staff and also to enforce some rules. If I stayed here again it would be because of the great location and not the park.

While many will disagree with this review a few of us experienced RV'ers will know exactly why I…read morerated this RV resort the way I did. In fairness the park is doing its best to become a 100% seasonal owner RV park. The management should place the traveling RV's in a separate part of the park away from the seasonal residents until this transition is complete. However until this is done, those of us who have been on the road for six months or longer and have stayed in more parks than we can remember, we are not looking for a park that crams your RV into a spot that will hardly hold a tent, hours of annoying loud music vibrating your RV and shaking your windows, huge hundred pound dangerous breed dogs being walked by children, teens having golf cart races, a safe place to walk your small dogs without having tons of children scaring them and laughing about it, neighbors acting like drunken fools at midnight, free WiFi that never works however you are offered an upgrade at an additional cost, etc, etc. I believe by now you get the idea. Don't get me wrong, if this is what you are looking for in a RV park then this is your park. Matter of a fact it deserves a five star for managing to even fit a 32' travel trailer in between several RV's that are decked out with storage buildings, elaborate decks/sunrooms, fences and vehicles lining the small road. I can't make this up, one of the sites on the end actually built a Windsor wall to prevent anyone from turning down "their" road. Because of this you have to navigate up to 20 vehicles that line the road then blind back your RV into a tiny spot. Most experienced travelers are seeking piece and quite which is a far cry in this park. The only reason I booked this park was because I had stayed in another Sun Resort in Mystic Connecticut that was perfect for my age group. That particular park was very quite and laid back with plenty of room to walk my two small six pound dogs without having to torture them to walk in the middle of the street holding their urine and poop while passing by RV's with people glaring warnings not to allow your pet to not unleash its bladder or bowels on their little tiny spot in this world and the fear of getting mauled by huge dogs on chains not being watched by their owners. However it's ok for them to allow their pet to drop huge piles on your campsite and keep walking. My wife and I felt like the park pooper scoopers. I don't want this type of drama. All I want is peace and quiet. Why campgrounds think that experienced RV'ers want to deal with this is beyond me. I actually know exactly what a sardine feels like in a can after my stay here. The staff was nice, especially Phil, who by the way was doing his best to help me thread a camel through the eye of a needle while backing (for which I have over 40 years of doing so) however someone on his pocket radio thought something else was more important. However don't trust what they tell you about sites being booked. I asked three times to move to a couple different sites that I watched empty my entire visit, however I was told they were reserved. Getting hooked up and pulling out was a nightmare with trucks and cars parked out into the middle of the street. Some campsites had as many as 12 people and five vehicles staying in one RV across from us. When I checked in I ask for a good quite spot. What I received was far from it. I believe I would have been better off boon docking at Walmart. The night before I left I had to walk around the park and politely ask people to clear their vehicles off the road to make room to pull my truck and camper out. What a nightmare. I'm sure the management will respond with something smart to say, however they will probably be right. I should have looked for a park that advertises large private campsites without seasonal RV'ers and without all the bells and whistles. To Sun Corporation, it's only a matter of time before a small child gets mauled to death by a vicious dog, drowns in your pool where parents don't stay with them, someone getting seriously injured by a child racing a golf cart or a child getting ran over by a vehicle from walking out between all the trucks and cars that line each side of the small roads. Your goal should be to look at Seaside in Mystic Connecticut and try to model that park.

I won't list everything because it would be too long, and will just share the most serious. There were only 5 total campsites occupied during our stay (3 seasonal, 2 regular campers) and everyone we spoke to felt disappointed by the expectation from the web site vs. the very different reality. I hope to save someone else from making the mistake of booking this place. 1. There are no ponds, only swamps. See photos. The web site advertises 3 ponds, even referring to one as the "glamping pond." I promise they are swamps that are entirely taken over by invasive milfoil. Swimming is not only prohibited, but would be impossible and unsafe. As a side note, floats are not allowed in the pool (the only place to swim at this campground). 2. The layout is not at all like a campground. It is an open parking lot. There are no trees and no shade. The camp sites are like parking spots (see photos) with no trees or privacy between sites. 3. They advertise a schedule of activities for the kids. There were zero activities the entire week we were here. There is a rec room, which has tables/chairs, a tv, air hockey, and some board games. 4. Safety-there are no staff members that you will find if you need anything. There is a lady who works the front office but she is often not there. I turned on the oven in our cabin and it immediately started smoking due to sticky burned goop that was left by a previous guest, filling the cabin with smoke and setting off the fire alarm. No employee noticed or came. 5. Dog park-another deceiving part of the web site. It is a very small fenced circle with a tiny dog house in it. Be careful, the dog house has a hornets nest in it. 6. Since there is nothing to do at this campground, we found ourselves driving to off site activities daily. Most things are 45 minutes away. There is a nice beach about 15 minutes away. The nearest grocery store is about 15 minutes away (there is no camp store on site, they only sell ice at the office). I was really looking forward to floating in a lovely pond and enjoying a campground with all the amenities that are advertised here. The theme of the week was how we had been "scammed" and "catfished." We did our best to stay positive and make the best of it. My toddler enjoyed the playground and the bouncy house.
