I called the day before the July 4th holiday as a shot in the dark to see if I could schedule an exam today. His guy was out but he referred me to an amazing ophthalmologist, Dr. Colella. After the exam I went to meet Chris. This is a quaint little shop and Chris was so kind and helpful. I tried frames on and he gave me much needed opinions. The prices are very reasonable for frames and lenses. He even gave me a sample of content lenses to see if I can get used to mono vision in place of bi focal lenses. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I'm so thankful Chris picked up the phone when I called. I wish I had found him years ago!

The doctor took the time to examine my eyes and gave me a correct prescription. She even commented that my old prescriptions were bad. I can finally see clear again. After trying on several frames, I had my exam and the doctor (who was very nice) dilated my eyes. I couldn't see very well and didn't have my contact lenses in. So when I tried on a few more frames, I could vaguely make out the shape. Long story short, I thought I picked out a style I liked but when I went to pick them up I wanted to cry, not what I remembered. The ladies there (I feel terrible I don't remember their names) really went out of their way to make me happy. They got frames from other companies for me to try on, allowed me to exchange the frames I had ordered, and were just really accommodating and helpful! In the end, I am getting the glasses I love! Last ditch effort I really dug in and started researching who was the best. Dr Colella to the rescue. He gave me the most thorough eye exam I've ever had. He was kind and told me what he was doing and what the results meant. He spent 5 times more time with me than all 3 doctors combined. After being in the chair for 5 minutes I knew I came to the right place. He even stayed late on the day before a holiday for my exam. The office never communicated to me that my LASIK evaluation appt would require my eyes to be…read moredilated, so I showed up by myself and was unable to have the evaluation because I needed to drive myself back home afterwards. The office also messed up scheduling my LASIK surgery appt. I live in NC and I was only visiting NY to have this surgery, so when I made the appt they told me that my surgery was booked for the Monday immediately following my Wednesday evaluation. However during my evaluation, they told me that they did not have my surgery date scheduled and that they no longer could fit me in on Monday despite me driving all the way from NC for this procedure. After all this, they said they could just "reschedule me again for a later date" despite the fact I told them I don't live in the area and I only made the commute from NC to NY in order to have this procedure done. They then just casually told me "then you're free to leave." I'm an easy-going guy but this was extremely frustrating and I would not recommend this place to anyone. I'm very disappointed because I was looking forward to having LASIK done, and I'm very upset at all the time I wasted because of the poor communication and the scheduling failures of this office.

Once, I was experiencing strange vision problems and called--the office got me in within fifteen minutes, and ten minutes later I had the peace-of-mind of a diagnosis and reassurance that my vision returned to normal and no pain was involved. Several years ago, I went to one of those chain stores that uses computerized tools to measure eyesight prescriptions, and Dr Socash's prescription was dead on. The office is clean, quiet, neat and friendly, and the optical store has a great selection and great salespeople. I love that I can order bulk contacts affordably through them as well.
