We arrived early 11:30am for a noon lunch but no problems. We were asked if we would like the chefs to start our lunch early. It was windy and miserable outside so I opted for the warmed sake. It was fine but we did try some nicer sake at the end of the meal. Our plates came out in a timely manner. I think due to the waitress paying attention to how quickly we were eating. The restaurant was filled by noon and when a large group arrived at the door they had to make a decision to find somewhere else to eat. All of our food was great and we even opted to pay for a second plate. The bento boxes and other lunch time meals looked good too.I also liked the cocktail with lychee. There are quite a few eating places within a short walk of this place and they were also very busy.

Umaya happens to be around the corner from a church I was visiting in sydney and I came here frequently. I had the karage don and the katsu don bowls and they were both awesome! Super solid karage, fresh, crunchy and tender and the sauces and kewpie mayo they use is great. The katsu don bowl was also exactly as i expected it. I may not be happy about the price if i were paying AUD but paying USD it was moreeee than fair. The quality was very consistent and the service was great. Definitely a go to place if you're ever in the outskirts of sydney australia!

While the sushi have some room for improvement and the service was a little messy that we kept needing to ask for dish or chopsticks or cups, the ramen was cooked to perfection and for that I will give them all the stars.

Japanese ramen is my newest obsession btw. The location is on Smith Street a mere 5 minute walk from the Parramatta train station for those worries about accessibility. I've also noticed street parking a few blocks away. I had the pork pot stickers to start and they were not the typical fried ones you'd get around town. These were steamed and served in a bath of a light soy sauce mixture and greens. Quite tasteful and perfect for folks like me with a shellfish allergy who worry about cross contamination of deep fried foods. I followed this up with the main event a bowl of the ramen with pork broth. I'm not sure which one I ordered but three varieties were on order miso, soya and salt. I'd imagine they taste pretty similar but don't quote me there. The broth was a thick, opaque medley of flavors and came with sesame seeds, seaweed, green onions, bean sprouts and roast pork loin. This broth normally comes with mushrooms (which I don't like) and corn (which while expected wasn't included). I believe this place is a chain but I'd definitely come here again when craving ramen. The service was great with a friendly and attentive wait staff welcoming all patrons with a friendly Japanese greeting. This place offers take away but I'd recommend sitting down when you have the time to savor the entire experience. For those in search of a quick treat they offer $3.50 to go sushi rolls. There are also sushi chefs available behind the bar turning out some beautiful tasty looking sushi dishes. Large offering of Japanese and Korean wines and beer on offer for those in need of a drink after a long day.

May 2025 will be 10 years that I've been coming to this place. The staff are always polite and service is definitely on the faster side, even when they're a little busy. The food is delicious and reasonably priced even during this inflationary period over the last few years. It would be nice if more people knew that they serve a wide variety of Korean dishes too, as they only present themselves as a Japanese place. Given the location near the river and the floor to ceiling windows, I can imagine how a lot of other owners might change the place's aesthetic to try to be more trendy. But I'm actually glad they've never really changed. It has a small family owned business look. All their attention is put into service and quality of your meal. I can't recommend it highly enough and I was hugely relieved to see them reopen after closing during the pandemic and construction work on the Meriton. I'm always looking for an excuse to go back.

The veggie Tempura was bland and was basically a small potato sliced up and fried with no seasoning whatsoever. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE VEGETARIAN. My partner said his Sushi was just OK. He ordered a Tooheys New and got a Tooheys Draught?? He said I don't know why I didn't get the advertised drink? It was in a can too..! Ugh, waste of money seriously.

Korean rice cake and dumpling soup.. Been awhile since I had it. Beverage wise ordered lemon lime bitters as I won't have much opportunity to drink this. Servers was fast and efficient. Greeted me upon coming in and it was too fast that I haven't got the time to look over the menu. I'm glad I did research on what I'm about to try before coming here. More long tables and benches - good for groups. And the sushis on the belts looked appetizing too (as a part of lunch special - it is $3.50 each). Seating at the belt area is pretty limited (8-10 seats). The dish was pretty good. Soup base was tasty and portion wasn't too little either. Just a little salty. With it, I was given some side dishes (potatoes and kimchi). Overall I was satisfied with my meal :)
