This was my first, but certainly not last, visit to this new food truck, open less than 3 weeks,…read morewhich I heard about from a Yelp friend. If they can keep up this quality of food and service, they will certainly be a success, even in a town not particularly location friendly to food trucks. Boulder has a lot of ordinances regarding these endeavors and rightly so in many ways. Pearl Street can not be clogged with trucks and the local businesses who have set up on the Mall at exorbitant rental rates need to have a fair chance to survive. But there is a lot of potential in the business parks and other locations the city is considering. The food from this truck might convince the powers that be! The thing that makes this truck easy to access and not just a random encounter is the incredibly detailed schedule and location calendar on their website. Do check it out and see if they will be near you. Not only are they doing lunch at business parks but they are venturing out to many breweries and events in the evenings, some well outside of Boulder. The lack of this has been the failing of several well liked trucks that I have tried to find in the past. An accurate and reliable calendar is a must. On to the food. I really wanted a savory crepe for lunch since they are not easy to come by in a casual lunch in Boulder any more. Today's crepe was ham, cheese and spinach. The crepe was freshly made to order, all of the ingredients were fresh, tasty and hot and melty, the crepe itself, perfectly browned but not tough or burned. Finding that point between under and over cooked is something I care about. This was just perfect. Wrapped in a traditional easy to hold paper wrapper, full enough to satisfy, but not drippy or messy to eat. The price was $10, but that included the tax, so I think it was fair for the serving. There was a simple dessert crepe for $7. They have several drinks available, all good choices with french food, several flavored Pelllegrino varieties, Perrier, and Mexican Coke. The most popular item being ordered by people in line today was the Croque Madame, a pretty big meal for a lunch for me, but I will find the truck on a day when I am super hungry and give it a try. I do love these when properly made. If it turns out to be as good as the crepe, I could see 5 stars in their future. Here is their web address to make finding them easy, http://thetwisttruck.com

I have been driving by El Mercado for years (I did shop at the small supermarket a couple times),…read morealways promising myself I would try their breakfast burritos (available inside the supermarket a while back) once I saw they got a food truck. They've made constant improvements to make the patio more attractive (they even added a covered area for cold or rainy days.) I figured they had to do something right to attract enough customers for their breakfast burritos in order to buy a truck. I am so glad I finally visited El Mercado to try their breakfast burrito. It was by far the best I've had for a very long time. I actually had given up finding a very good one in Colorado. I had the chorizo, and my husband the bacon one. That burrito was so moist it melted in my mouth, it was the perfect balance of cheese (lots of it I assume), chorizo and whatever else they put in it. A sign also says that they now offer breakfast burritos all day. Sitting at a table next to us was someone raving about his tamale (he told me they have added a new one to the menu and it is the best- $2 each, blue sign on the window). They seem to do a good business with people ordering to go, a lot of them regulars and I totally understand why. I will be going back to try their lunch menu soon!!!

The vindaloo had a great flavor and just the right amount of heat (I ordered mild), that I didn't need any hot sauce. What I really appreciated about the vindaloo was the peppers and onions they had in it. Really tasty and added a lot to the dish. As for the garlic naan, I thought that was flavorful as all heck and a nice compliment to the vindaloo. Don't pass this place up. If you're curious and keep driving by them then you should just get some food and try them for yourself. I will also say the price is very reasonable too! Service was great and ambiance for outdoor eating in your car would be a nice rush hour traffic break!

My husband tried them at work then took me within the week claiming, "Hannah, you just gotta try these!" The urgency in his voice told me everything: these tacos are GOOD! We got 2x Chorizo and 4x Bacon with all the fixings: potatoes, cheese, fresh pico and 2 kinds of salsa on the side. They come in combos of 2 for about $6 -- great deal in my opinion! My first bite -- explosion of flavor! The tortilla was soft and chewy, the potatoes melded with the eggs n' cheese, the meat tasted juicy but not greasy while the pico lifted and brightened the whole taco. It was savory while being fresh and reminded me of California Mexican! Something, I always want in my life. I got full after two but wished I could have eaten a dozen more. Will be back!
