Quiero mas!!!!! I rely on yelp for deciding where to eat quite often. Since I moved to this area I hadn't eaten Mexican food because all the places around us had 3 stars no more. Finally, I gave in and went to this place for dinner and loved it!! After a couple of weeks I went again for lunch to see if I had just been lucky that first time, and guess what!!? Not luck this place is just GOOD! I love the chips and salsa and the Queso dip, the menu is very affordable and the staff was great! I have been coming here for YEARS. I fell in love with the food,& queso. About a week ago they were closed down with a letter from the health department on the door. If you search online you will be able to see all the violations that this restaurant has. It's disgusting. Mold growing in the ice machine.. chips on the ground... queso being left out for more than 24 hrs . I'm very disappointed i loved it here. But now i'm disgusted. Do not eat here!!!!!!!!! The food is not bad, not great but not bad either. This post is because the service is horrible. After getting our food in what seemed like record time. We had had to wait about 30 mins for the waiter to bring the bill to the table, but then the icing on the cake. I had the credit card out and waiting when the waiter dropped off the bill, we watched he proceed to sit down and eat a meal for two other worker just three booths away from us. This is one of those places you drive by over and over again but never seem to go in well I finally did. I have to say the food was good and flavorful. I ordered the chicken fajita, the lunch portion is actually big and with all the fixings. There is plenty of parking and the staff was very helpful. Been here several times. Mexican shrimp cocktail possibly the best I've ever had. Carnitas are excellent--grilled (?), a bit of char and lots of grilled onions--flavor and consistency right on point. Highly recommend the chile rellano. The cheese in it is the same cheese they use as the hot cheese dip--just delicious. Guacamole good, salsa with the chips is a bit bland but easily heated up with hot sauce on the table. Full bar, a bit unusual in a Mexican restaurant. Good size parking lot, always friendly service. Most Mexican restaurants will give you, upon request, a small plate or bowl of chopped onions and cilantro--these guys charge 50 or 75 cents. Not a biggy, just irritating. What was once the best Mexican restaurant in Brandon has gone way way downhill!!! Chips used to be GREAT but now are very bland and their Salsa Sauce seems very watered down! This place great because of its great deals. We have been here twice since living in Brandon and had great food and drinks both times. The only complaint I can make is that the service the second time was not great. We were being extremely patient but felt the service was very slow. Unfortunately our early weekday dinner here was not one we'll revisit again. A couple reasons for the low review. My top reason is cleanliness. It was very dirty. An extreme odor from the high chair straps. Lots of dust and grime. The freshness in the chips and salsa was missing. The salsa tasted bland and as if it was just out of a can. The chips were stale. The service from our particular waitress was fine. There were 10 tables and she was the only one working. There were 2 people upfront, a hostess and what looked to be a front of house manager. And then there were 6 employees all sitting at a table rolling silverware while 1 waitress rushed to get everyone's drinks, food, bill, Ect. It looked bad. All I could do was stare at the large party of employees while we endlessly waited on our bill. read more

Ok...only reviewing the Tuesday special -$.99 cent tacos. We had never been there but a friend told us to try their Tuesday taco special. A decidedly dourly waitress informed us the ground beef taco was the only 99 cent taco so we each ordered three to start. They arrived promptly in crispy shells that rapidly turned soggy from the excessive grease dripping from the tacos. Taco Bell could win a taste test against these tacos. We left still hungry but needing some Rolaids for our bellies and a toothbrush to free our teeth and tongues from the grease coat. Hope the regular menu is better. read more

Just left here! Can't say if the food was good but the service is horrible! We were seated brought chips and salsa. But no one ever came to take our order. We were seated on the patio the waitress made eye contact with once but didn't approach us! After 30 minutes we left! Ruined our date night. The service at this restaurant is horrible the waitstaff is more concerned about getting back to their back booth and talking to each other than waiting on you or getting you what you need. I've had multiple waitresses give me a disgusting look or be put off by the fact that I ask for another glass of water The food is mediocre at best very Americanized Mexican but the service just totally takes away from the whole experience I'd be surprised if this place is in business a year from now. I have always been a huge fan of saboras, been going since they opened. Never had a problem. The last couple times I've been The service and food both seemed cheaper and not the saboras I knew. I gave them,the benefit of the doubt, thought I'd caught them at a bad time... But went back yesterday for my last time. Ever. I got my normal chicken quesadilla, it was soggy and falling apart... Tasted like left over taco bell. After getting home and going to bed I woke up 6 hours later with the worst food poisoning I've ever experienced. This is the worst Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. If I could rate them 0 stars I would. The food was not good and the service was horrible. It took forever to be served and then when the food came, it didn't taste good. I went with my family and we all got different things so I was able to try several different menu items. NOTHING was good. All the food looked good, it looked fresh, it looked like it was going to be amazing, but it was prepared horribly. The place is staffed by Mexicans so its really weird that no one there has apparently ever cooked or even eaten Mexican food. For those of you that don't like Mexican food I would not recommend you coming here ~ go to TJ Flats of some other place that uses liquid yellow "cheese sauce" out of a #10 can on their nachos. If you think Mexican food is supposed to taste like Old El Paso in a can, please don't be rating this place. This is the best MEXICAN food you will find in Brandon, and some of the best in Hillsborough county. On top of that, it is some of the largest portions for the best price you will find in the county. I have eaten here many times and have never had a bad meal. It is occasionally extraordinary and routinely good -- both the food and the service. If they have it, get the tamal which ranges from good to better-than-Mexico. We've eaten everything on the menu that is not a fish and not once have we let really disappointed. I really don't understand why this has good reviews. The only positive thing I can say...the sweet tea was good. The place smelled so horrible, we sat outside to avoid losing our appetites. I got the chicken tacos...which were the worst I'd ever had. The chicken was in huge chunks and had NO flavor. I took maybe 3 bites. My husband had the ground beef tacos and said they were flavorless, too. The only draw I can see, is the cheap alcohol. Everyone around us was drinking. I have to say with so many negative reviews, I'm kind of surprised. We have been there several times and the food has been consistently good! We always get the queso and a la carte shrimp and cheese quesadillas and cheese enchiladas. They never have let us down. My husband & I love this place. The portions are very large for a low price. Our trick is to go at lunch time (before 3 pm) because they serve the same exact portions as dinner just at a lower price. They have an awesome cheese dip and we love their quesidillas & tacos. Wonderful rice & refried beans on the side too. Ok so I was craving some Mexican last night and it was late to a drive to Bradenton fl to our fave spot so, started looking for restaurant in brandon fl hoping for the best since I've already tried a few and was not to happy. This place which I thought was new but it's been there for 6 years already (helllllooo where have I been) was cute, lights outside, small on the inside but hey I was starving. The booth seats were a little uncomfortable, they needed more cushion. Very friendly staff, chips and salsa yummy, then BAM!!!!! The QUESO was slamming to perfection, yessss we had 2 large bowls...we order fajitas and enchiladas and let me tell you everything was sooooo good...we finally have our Mexican spot closer to home. They did tell us the weekly specials and the one that caught my ear was something about a Mexican buffet they have wed. Nights....definitely a must try. read more

It's pretty bad when Chipotle, Taco Bell and Moe's are better! We ordered the flautas and the chicken was dryer than the desert! And the flavor? Zero! The beef? No flavor! Guacamole? Again no flavor! We couldn't even finish our meal. We asked to speak to the manager and they never came to the table. Not cool! Don't you care about your business? Customers? Very disappointed! First off, the chips were overcooked. You know, when they are that orange color and taste like they have been seating under a heat lamp for a long time. Not a good start. Then I ordered the chicken nachos trying to go the safe route. Bad idea! Same burnt chips with microwaved melted cheese and a few chunks of chicken.
