This place is good tacos are big and they don't slack on toppings for sure. I tried the steam and chorizo tacos both were good but nothing extraordinary. I got the bottled coke and it wasn't as cold as I would want it to be. I'd do the receive the food quickly and the chips and salsa were average. Not the best taco place but not bad. The place is clean. The servers are very nice. However I've given this place two chances now after recently moving to Plant city I ordered steak tacos the first time and the meat was so dry that I needed three drinks just to get three tacos down. It's been a couple of months so today I went again and ordered three chicken tacos for lunch. It was actually fajita style and once again the meat was overcooked and dry. I hardly ever taste what i eat when i'm in the wrong mood. I am glad i did. I ordered mine with green sauce sense it's the only spicy sauce i can handle. Didn't have to use the extra one. It has spice already infused into the dish! It was a fun fiery heat in my mouth! Every fork full brought a warm full joy. The flavors dancing in mouth on every chew i took. I kid you not! The chicken was delicious, feathery n tender. Had this sweet hidden note i could only taste as it slid down my throat. The ghostly notes lingered on my tung n tickling my taste buds. The beans were nice by themselves. Yet with the rice they to danced in my mouth. The heavy moat of cheese n salsa complimented the whole dish to. I wish i tried the tacos, they looked great. A las i guess my next adventure should be Plant city when things stabilize. Will have to definitely visit the restaurant n experience the visit. I would like to start with this, this used to be my favorite taco place hands-down. I have spent and I've seen amount of money here and I did it frequently. I had a terrible experience last month with my food, being ice, cold and items missing. So I then chalked it up to things happen and moved on. Today Friday August 23,2024 four I come in with an open mind and hoping to get some of the food that I have grown to love from this establishment. I ordered 4 corn carne asada tacos with no onion , 3 hard tacos carne asada with no tomatoes and two additional carne asada tacos with onion and cilantro with an order of queso. I drove all the way home and realized that they did not give me my hard tacos, so I call the restaurant to make them aware and hopefully go pick up the rest of my food. The young women gets on the phone and simply states that I was wrong and that she gave me all of my food. No concern or want to take care of their customer. I have never experienced customer service of this stature. The lack of customer service skill and maturity of the Bridgette behind the counter is mind blowing. I live all the way across town and by no means want to drive all the way back over because someone forgot to put the right food in my order, what upsets me mostly is to be accused as if I'm trying to get something for free and lying. I offered to pay for the food again just to make a point, unfortunately the manager Angie was not here to speak with. This experience is very unfortunate and disturbing. I used to love this place. But to be treated in this manner has totally turned off my want to spend any money in this establishment. I've read numerous other comments of people experiencing the same thing, this is a terrible look for a company and if they continue with the same customer service they will not last. As I am in the store Ms Bridgett continue to laugh and talk about me in Spanish , jokes on her I understand espanol. I will be contacting Angie in the morning to make her aware of my experience. I would fire my employee if they ever acted the way Bridgett did. I tipped the young lady that helped me when I came back handsomely to prove a point. read more

We've been here many times and always enjoyed our food. This is the first time trying the birria pizza and it was AMAZING!!! My son and I shared and there's still 1/2 the pizza left. If you haven't tried this it's a must. read more

Plant City could use some more local restaurants and for some reason, I had never noticed the place before. The atmosphere was kind of simple and you could tell it was a Quizno's at one point in history due to the little stand at the end of the bar where sauces and ingredients normally would go. There is some Mexican art painting on the wall, but I think it could be improved on...although for a new business, I am sure the owner is testing the waters at this location. The food was great and authentic. I had a chimichanga and it came with rice and a small salad (lettuce/tomato/sour cream). I did feel like the cheese inside was a tad strange, as it tasted more like the cheese in a mozzarella cheese stick...stringy, tough, and chewy in comparison to other chimichangas I have had. Maybe that is their style? The staff was nice and if I am looking for Mexican food in Plant City again, I would certainly try them again. read more

The carnitas by the pound, was exactly what we were hoping for: real, latin, slow-cooked pork shoulder, nicely seasoned, and so juicy with the right amount of fat. Delicioso! Proabably the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever visited. Came all the way here for a pambazo and they did not have potatoes. They also did not have Mojarra which my wife wanted. The chips were stale and the salsa watery and flavorless. We Ordered a side of Guac which was runny and apparently made with milk and was disgusting. My bread for my torta tasted stale. Each bite of my meat seemed to have cartilage and connective tissue. I was picking it out of my mouth every other bite. Lastly I spent most of my meal without a refill or napkins. Just so dissatisfied and disgusted. Will never be back and will recommend others not to, what a waste of my time. I have no idea how this place is even open! read more

My first view of Taco Rey's was that it is not a very clean place to eat. Food on the walls, floor not clean and seats were kind of sticky. Nice people though. Being that I am from WI I found that the south does not value cleanliness. Being clean goes a long ways! It's really sad because I love the food at Taco Rey but the girls that served me (who were young girls) where 100% disrespectful and racist. My fiancé and I were originally going to dine-in but I was told I wasn't allowed to bring in outside food which I did have Panera with me which is fine, I understand that. But the way the girl responded to me about it was not okay and she said it in a very rude way. So we decided just to get our food to-go because we didn't feel wanted there because of how the girl responded to me. I left and had my my fiancé wait for our food to-go and he can understand Spanish and he overheard a couple of those younger girls talking crap about me and calling me a "white girl" and he also overheard them talk crap about every person who came into get food and talking about their race. Very unprofessional and it's sad because I love their food but I will never return because of how I was treated by those girls. read more
