Very dissatisfied with this restaurant. I understand that today is cinco de Mayo but the way the employees and the "owner/manager" handled it was also unprofessional. We got there at 5:50 and signed in. Party of nine, 7 adults and two children under two. They continued to skip us and would seat parties of 7, rather than make accommodations to seat our part in an orderly fashion. When we told the host she shrugged her shoulders and gave an attitude. After waiting an hour and a half I comfronted the gentleman Manuel who claimed to be the owner and manager. My biggest question to him was why was he the one upset when we were the ones that had been overlooked several times. When i mentioned how long we'd been waiting he proceeded to tell me tha wasnt true and grabbed the host's book and noticed that I wasnt lying but refused to tell me I was correct he continue to tell me that i was in the wrong. At that point i'd had enough and our group left. Customer service is not their strong suit instead he felt the need to tell me how i was at fault. I will never go back and neither will anyone in our party. Their lack of professionalism and concern was enough for me to never want to support a business who could care less. read more

My family and I got to the restaurant at 5:50pm left at 7:34pm with no table and no service. We were a party of 9 people - 7 adults, 2kids.... A party of 7 got sat before us at about an hour wait, we spoke to the two ladies at the front seating everyone... the older lady ignored me and the younger lady rolls her eyes and shrugged her shoulders telling me that they were 7 and we were 9.... Table, after table, after table continued to get sat and finally after speaking with who claimed to be the "owner," Manuel, we left... Manuel was rude, unaccommodating, and unsympathetic to what was happening and even tried to tell us that we didn't get there at the time we did and hadn't been waiting that long. When we physically saw him confirm with the books, he did not even apologize when seeing our number at the top of the list with the time. Working in food and bev, I know exactly how this is supposed to go, so it's disappointing that there was no professionalism in how any of these individuals worked... As a Mexican, I would say this is not authentic Mexican food. The food here is targeted for Caucasians seniors (aka white ppl).

Sabor was recommended and did not disappoint. We went on a Saturday evening and even though the parking was full we got a table right away. Plenty of seating inside and out. 3 people ordered chimis and I had the Mole enchiladas. The enchiladas were very good. I liked the mole and it was savory with a hint of sweet and some spice. Sabor a Mexico is great place to go for authentic, tasty and traditional Mexican food. My wife and I visited here with her parents on a weekday night. When we pulled into this restaurant off highway 60 in Brandon, we figured we were in for a wait. The parking lot was packed and was had to park way in the back. We walked into the lively and bustling restaurant but were seated immediately in a large booth. There was plenty of seating. Our server was around quickly. She was friendly and got us started on drinks. My and my father-in-law had a beer. Modelo with lime. They bring you salsa and chips to snack on when you get seated. The salsa was fresh and refreshing. It was a nice mix of liquid and chunky. It had substance to it and was zingy with a slight spice but nothing I couldn't handle. We finished at least three baskets of chips. For dinner, my wife and I both ordered the tacos. This plate came with 4 tacos. Each topped with cilantro, chopped onions and a slice of avocado. I ordered two with pastor and two with steak. The food was up quick. I doused my tacos in both sauces they came with without trying them first. One of them was spicy. I don't do well with too much spice. A squeeze of lime and these tacos were all set. Simple but tasty and filling. They hit the spot and I really enjoyed them. My wife did too. My wife's parents also enjoyed their meals. One got a chipotle chicken dish and the other got a quesadilla. All the food was fresh and flavorful. This place was busy and more people kept coming in so I'd say Sabor A Mexico is known in Brandon for their good food. You should check it out! read more

Salsa had enough spice for everyone. Waitress was a bit inattentive but I believe she may have been overwhelmed with the crowd. Margs were pretty good, mixer flavor was not very strawberry but had enough tequila. Chicken fajitas were average, with enough chicken portions. My sister had the Chile Relleno and was very happy. This is the first time we've been to Sabor A Mexico in years. It was not what we remembered. The food was not well-seasoned. In fact, it was bland. I had to order verde sauce on the side to give it some flare. My skinny margarita was mostly ice and tasteless. We were seated right away in the bar, which meant the bar tender was our waiter. He did the best he could. The interior of the place had not changed. You still walk to the front counter to pay. We will choose from many other better Mexican restaurants in the future. read more

So we had a large group, and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. The ambience is festive, and the service is excellent. Our food all came out at nearly the same time even someone who ordered later than the rest of the group. The hibiscus tea was perfect-not too sweet. This is not the best around. My wife and I have lots of previous experiences in many Mexican restaurants. My wife is from Mexico also, so she knows good from mediocre. This was certainly a disappointment and the service was slow and 3/4 empty, so no idea what is going on. Food was not of the quality when we go elsewhere. She was in the mood for enchiladas and I followed suit. Not flavorful or well made. Tasted like salty American cheese in one. Churros were ordered to go, as our server disappeared from sight for some time. Again, lunchtime, Saturday and it was not busy at all. The churros were filled with some unidentifiable cream of banana or some other weird choice. Our experience left us a bit upset and the sad thing is in the past they were very good. So we ventured out the house and went to location. *The service was very rushed. We had barely sat down when the waitress came over and said "what do you want?" She was rude, and not at all welcoming. *The house margaritas were VERY STRONG. And not in a good way. It was inedible. *The guacamole was good, but I don't know if I'd call it guacamole. 8pm hit and so did the munchies for both me and my husband! We both wanted Mexican food SO bad, but since 8pm is a little bit late for a week night, unfortunately, everything around us happened to be closed- or closing up at 9. We found Sabor A Mexico in Brandon, which didn't close until 10... JACKPOT! Just what we were looking for. They were not super busy, but there were at least 4 or 5 other tables seated. We were seated immediately. The first thing that we noticed was how clean and cozy the dining area was. Our server was incredibly friendly, and checked on us often throughout our meal. I think the pricing here is decent for what you get, especially for the kid's plates. I was kind of shocked that they didn't have black beans though, because that's what my son enjoys. My husband ordered the chicken nachos and some tacos, and the chicken nachos were very Americanized- not much flavor, but not bad tasting. The chicken seemed to be from a can. He said the tacos were fine. I ordered the Pollo Loco, and it was also okay, I've had better but since I was craving it so badly, it definitely hit the spot! The queso was the best part of the meal. The chicken was cooked to perfection as well. What was really good, was my son's cheese quesadilla... I took a few bites of it when he was finished, and honestly I think when we come back that's what I'm going to order! It was fantastic, especially being for a kids plate... haha. All in all, the food here is decent, I've had better- I would say that their food is a little bit Americanized, as there wasn't as much spice as I'd normally expect, but the service was great and we will eat here again, I'd definitely like to try the (adult sized) quesadillas next time! read more

Nice Mexican restaurant with simple decor but tasty dishes. One of our largest disappointments since moving to Florida is the lack of good Mexican food. Some places offer good individual dishes but lack in overall menu. Sabor does a great job on bringing Mexican flavor to all of their dishes. The eats are marinated before being grilled. Sauces have some kick without being ridiculously hot. Decent chips and salsa with all orders. My wife likes the fajitas. Most places merely grill the meat but Sabor makes sure that all the meats are marinate and have flavor on their own. Enchiladas are tasty. This place used to be so good like crave it constantly good. I just went today after not having it in years (moved) and it was all horrible. I don't know if they changed cooks or sold the business but it had no flavor. The beef tacos had a fishy undertone not sure if it was the ground beef or the taco shells but we stopped eating after a few bites. The burritos were soggy and meat was dry. So I guess it kind of evened out but they were really bland. I'll try it one more time in a few months to see if maybe it was just a staff issue / off day. Staff was friendly. read more
