Our close friends mom,…read morewhom we refer to as Grandma cooked some of the best Pernil, arroz con gondules, tostones, and so on. So on our first night in the PR, we definitely wanted some authentic Puerto Rican food and with no recommendations, I resulted to what I know and did some Yelp searching. Not far from us was Toston Jibareño. As soon as we entered, I knew we were in the right place. The place has a decent amount of people inside so I knew it had to be ok. The menu has items I wasn't familiar with, but I went with what I thought I knew. Let me just say everything we ordered was spot on authentic to what I know. The pork chops was out of this world. The mofongo's and tostones brought back memories, the skirt steak was so tender and they did not have arroz con gondules, but instead arroz con habichuelas which are beans and I can't eat beans. It was a great first night. As much as I would love to come back,I have to try different places and different things, but if you are a local and haven't been here or a tourist and want good PR food, this is a great first stop.

The steak was tender and juicy. I can't remember much else from the meal, but I would definitely come back, even just for the mofongo alone!

It's mostly fried and fatty (sorry) but this place was the opposite! My local guy in Puerto Rico told me I would love it since I told him I wasn't a fan of overly fried foods. This place was packed with locals, cops, blue collar, business folks.. every kind of person was there and everyone seemed to know each other! They had amazing maduros with chicken, carne, veggies, and rice that was so tasty! We ended up going two days in a row for lunch because it was so fantastic and I cant wait to come back here! I was on line with a bunch of people who knew what they came for: good old Puerto Rican cuisine. I went for the pork stuffed with yuca. In was covered in bacon. What a delight!!! I have never tried this and was ecstatic at the combination of flavors. I had two more carbs as side dishes as if that was not enough. Yuca frita fríes and arroz con longaniza. I was in heaven. I was told by saint Peter that this will be served in the heavenly banquet. I was well beyond full from the serving size but not ashamed of the generosity of their service. No longer could I pretend to have an inspired working dinner. I was a clear recipient of the culinary genius behind this creation. Enjoy!!

The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, and the service was excellent from beginning to end, from the hostess to the servers and bussers. Our server, Jeffery, was amazing! He was energetic, professional, attentive, and you can genuinely tell he takes his position seriously. I loved that! We were greeted with complimentary sopa de plátano and bacalaítos, and I was NOT expecting to love them as much as I did. This was by far the best sopa de plátano I've ever had. I never thought I could fall in love with a soup, but here we are! (I ordered a whole extra regular size bowl )The bacalaítos were another surprise because they're normally not something I order or even particularly like--and I've tried quite a few in my life--but these were absolutely delicious. My S/O and I shared the churrasco with arroz mamposteao, along with a side of avocado salad and majado de viandas. Everything was a straight 10/10. Not one disappointment on the table. They also make an amazing Rojo Pico, which was the perfect addition to the experience. 100% recommend Casita Miramar. Don't overthink JUST GO! I'm not able to emphasize how small this restaurant is, it's located right along the main walking strip in Coronado Beach. Maybe 10 tables or so. No reservations walk up wait in line if you have to eat and leave. Not only will you eat the best tasting food during your trip, but probably also pay the least amount of money. We went here twice! Their rice and beans recipe is probably what it's all about! We got grilled shrimp and skirt steak over rice and beans and honestly, I could've had it all week long!
