I hired Sabi Construction to do the complete renovation of my 1-Bedroom apartment. Hiring Sabi was one of the best decisions I made all year. My apartment is in an older UWS brownstone. It had old plumbing, old electrical, old everything. And now it looks clean, modern and beautiful! Sabi Construction worked with Con-Ed and then increased the electrical service coming into the apartment. Previously I had a few old glass screw-in fuses in my closet. Now I have a real electrical panel. Working with Sabi's electrician, we were able to add an energy-efficient cooktop, washer, dryer, and more lighting. Sabi's plumber moved the location of my kitchen sink, added plumbing to accommodate the washing machine, and completely overhauled my bathroom (moving sink, shower and toilet). Flooring was a huge job, and Sabi Construction handled it expertly. My old parquet floor was heavily damaged, and had to be removed. Sabi installed a new sub-floor, leveled it (!), then installed beautiful long wide tiles than look like wood planks. The bathroom was gutted, plumbing overhauled, and then beautifully tiled floor-to-ceiling. Some walls were altered also: Sabi removed an old unusable fireplace, expanded a closet, and oversaw window installation. In the kitchen they installed cabinets and an island. Everything was well organized and thoughtfully handled. Communication was great from start to finish. The owner, Isli, kept me informed about progress, answered all questions, and provided thoughtful and creative solutions to all issues (from bumpy walls to how to maximize the tiny closet space). And they kept me updated with frequent photos and FaceTime video when I was out of town. Costs were clearly communicated in writing and it was easy to discuss things when small changes were made or when I had questions. There were no surprises. Sabi dealt with the co-op board, building management, utility companies, neighbors, and the Dept of Buildings in the same respectful and clear manner that they did with me. Neighbors even commented about how responsible Sabi was in keeping hallways clean. And it was a big weight off my shoulders that they took care of all permits and inspections. Overall, I am thrilled with the results. The process was smooth, and even fun. The apartment looks fantastic. We did a full apartment renovation with SABI Construction; with especially attention to our kitchen and two bathrooms. When I was deciding on a contractor, I received multiple bids and selected SABI because they were, by far, the most professional: the bid included labor, building materials, and a choice to also include finish material costs. They also explained some of the best practices to eliminate extra costs hidden in the infamous NYC change orders. SABI has made the entire renovation experience a pleasant one, despite my initial renovation fear. In terms of design I worked with Lori and Omer. I also had an administrator (Isli) who oversaw the project from a paperwork standpoint (permits, architectural drawings, dealing with my fussy building, all purchases, etc.). Lori worked with me on choosing everything related to the bathrooms and apartment, and Omer designed the kitchen cabinets + countertop. They both make and great suggestions, and picked up on what I liked and guided me through the whole project. They set me up on a website where I signed off on everything they were ordering and I could log in any time to see what was delivered, and what was still on hold to be delivered when the carpenters were ready to receive. The construction went smoothly. The workers all wore masks, everyone showed up when expected, was respectful, and they cleaned up every day (apartment and hallway when needed) so that I could live and work in my apartment through the entire process. We also went through everything together very closely before we finished to make sure I was happy. SABI finished on time or under estimate and it came out beautiful. We worked with Sabi Construction in 2023 to completely renovate the original 1950s bathroom in our small Brooklyn co-op, and the experience exceeded our expectations from start to finish. Working in a co-op comes with a lot of rules and potential friction, but they handled all of the required paperwork seamlessly and were extremely respectful of building regulations. They were also thoughtful and professional in their day-to-day work, which went a long way in a building environment like ours. Most impressively, they built a strong working relationship with our superintendent--no small feat, as he is known to be quite difficult. It started off as our master bathroom renovation, we increased the size of our master, and then decided to add a walk-in closet. We love our new bathroom design and our office contact at SABI, Lori, who was extremely helpful with our selections and keeping us from overspending (in addition to Jimmy who worked on the design of our project and managed it). They started the renovations in the beginning of November and estimate about 2 more weeks until completion. I am impressed by their work super which was done efficiently and neatly. We agreed to having our home photographed and can't wait to be featured on their website! We plan to use SABI Construction again for our other bathroom after we have some time to enjoy our new one!
