To be totally honest - it should/could have been great - but it really was not! The good things: The theatre itself is magnificent with a century old history. Ample nearby parking about one block away for $10. The line to buy soda and potato chips (by the men's room side upstairs) was short. But the line for alcohol and more food choices was so long (women's restroom side but looping around the place) that you couldn't even get close enough to see your options (25 minutes before the show). The bad things (really bad) unless you get a seat very close to the stage): From our seats ("front balcony" center row J - and there were about 500 people behind us!!) we were so far away that we could barely see a thing. Certainly you could see faces let alone expressions. And a magician that you can't see!? Really?? There are solutions for this - eg in Londons West End) there are binoculars for lease on every other seat. OR you can have cameras installed (Saban have) and then project on to the huge screen above the acts. In pics you can see that they have indeed done just that!! But not last night since the big screen just showed Netflix ad and charity logo. Very sad for the audience From our seats it was only possible to hear about 50% of the comedy routines - even with my AirPods at max volume - and Mrs G's hearing is perfect and she had the same experience. So yup it was kinda good, the theatre architecture great. Was it really good? No. Was it worth the price. No? Such a fun night. Hosted by Allen Walls, who's well known in the dance community and throws these kinds of events in both LA and Vegas. This one was the night before Valentine's Day and the theme was sexy vampires. Spinning, acrobatics, full stage production. It was high energy and super entertaining from start to finish. Service was solid. The bartenders in the lobby were moving fast and kept the drinks flowing, which helped keep the vibe up between acts. The ambience is very theatrical. Big chandeliers, almost Phantom of the Opera energy, definitely elevated and dramatic. It feels like a proper night out, not just a random show. Great production, fun crowd, and something different from the usual scene. read more

My beautiful Sister B Te-See and I attended a performance of the Gay Men's Chorus. It was my birthday gift from her but we also came to support her friend Russell, who is a member of the choir. The Saban Theatre is a historic venue for live events, concerts, & film screenings. It was designed by S. Charles Lee in 1929. The art deco décor, cascading chandelier, & ornate gilded designs will take you back to the golden age of Hollywood. There's a large bar in the center of the lobby, the bathrooms have plenty of stalls, and the seats are tiered so you will have a good view of the stage. The theme of the show was Rhinestone Cowboys. I'm not really a fan of country music but I knew a few songs. Plus, their renditions were enjoyable. - Pink Pony Club was my favorite. the dance choreography made it more entertaining - even the sign language interpreter was grooving along. The acoustics of the theatre are also great and highlighted the beautiful soaring harmonies of the chorus. Before the performance Te-See was telling me that her husband lost is wedding ring when he was working in the theatre years ago. Right after she said that, my bracelet popped off my wrist. (I've never been able to unclasp in on my own.) Then, while watching the show the stone on my ring fell out. There was definitely some paranormal activity going on. Aside from that, the Saban Theatre is a wonderful place for a live show, and if you haven't seen the Gay Men's Chorus - I highly recommend. What a beautiful theater! The location was great and there is a nice lot near by (parking for the event was only $20 which we thought was great compared to others). The theater from the outside is nice, but once you walk inside you see the ornate detail and beautiful architecture. Seating was comfortable and plenty of leg room which is always a plus. The theater has plenty of seating and space. The stage is nice and the acoustics amazing. We were there for Whiplash live with an 18 piece orchestra backing the movie and it was one of the best shows we've seen. There were a few bars set up in the lobby and some food trucks along the outside of the theater. Cost was ok, comparable to what you pay anywhere nowadays I guess. From scanning our ticket to being seated everyone at the venue was friendly and helpful. It is pretty amazing being in such a historical location watching such talent. I spent a lot of money for a fifth row seat and flew in from out-of-town to attend a show in the Netflix Is A Joke festival (Brett Goldstein) at this venue and I felt ripped off because the sound quality was absolutely terrible. If the material had been clearly audible - the minimum one should expect from the 5th row - it would've been money well-spent. But the sound quality was so poor and "boom-y", I could only make out about 70% of the material. Save your money. :( Nobody cares about quality at this venue. If anyone did a sound check before this show, they absolutely did NOT know what they were doing. read more

Supporting theatre is like buying a one way ticket where the imagination, performance, and music all collide. This is a smaller theater compared to others, but the convenience of free residential parking was incredible. The usher hosts could have used more help as they don't guide you at all to your seats or even point you in the direction. Lucky for us, we saw a few empty seats and cymbal crashed our way down to avoid interrupting others views. Whiplash film with live orchestra was a man's dream! A jazz band with unrelenting intensity that made my heart feel like I was in the film and these hands were bloody red from so much greatness that I became Miles Teller. Performance and show, incredible. Service of the theater, could use some tough J.K. Simmons teaching methods to improve. read more

The leg room in the center balcony section was terrible. I've never experienced anything like this. I had to sit with both legs to the side. It was awful. We ended up moving to the side which was better. Do not get any tickets in the central balcony row F or G. The service at the bar was great though. read more

Checking in was fast and easy - no lines at all. Inside, there was a lot of room to mill about and take photos. The restrooms were clean and lots of stalls were available. The actual auditorium itself is gorgeous - the acoustics inside were amazing. It was the perfect venue to hold Whiplash in Concert. The room allowed for even the most subtle percussive accents to be heard by even those in the back rows. I love this venue. read more

We saw a show last night and the show itself was good, but sadly the event was organized very poorly. Downstairs they only have one available bathroom stall, (and there was no soap in the bathroom before or after the show!!!) for a theater that probably has 1500 to 2000 seat seats. The event started at seven and the staff was still sitting up the first two rows of chairs at 7:10 7:15. During the show the sound system popped loudly about six times and the first two times people were alarmed. Also, they did not sell water shortly before the show ended, which forced me to drink out of their poorly working water fountain. I woke up this morning with a terrible stomach bug. I'm not sure if it was caused by the water, but possibly. We drove from out of town for the show, and were very disappointed by the terrible organization of this event. As I was saying, I feel like the performer did as best as he could under the circumstances, but I really hope they fix these simple mistakes for the future! read more

I went to the Saban twice in 2025 and it's such a great, local venue with excellent sound and good views from orchestra and mezzanine alike. The upstairs restrooms are large but the bar line was a bit long on the 2nd floor with one bartender- tho he was GREAT(12/6//5 Wainwright concert). Would highly recommend. read more

This is a wonderful old theatre with gold painted interior designs surrounding the stage. We saw a candlelight concert here, which was totally worth it. They serve snacks and drinks before the show. I always appreciate a small and old theatre that probably has a lot of history. read more

Who is ready for a history lesson? Before distribution companies and movie theater companies we know today such as AMC , Regal, Cinemark, etc existed; the studios would own theaters directly. I'm talking way back in the 20s and 30s - Classic Hollywood era. Many of these theaters still exist but have since been converted to performing arts centers, theatres, concert venues and the like. One of these theater chains were the famous Fox Theaters owned by Fox Films. They focused on ornate gilded decoré, high ceilings, plaster molding and even stained glass and became one of the most in-demand theaters across the country. Naturally, the movie aspect went cold and most of the Fox Theaters across the US became concert venues. LA's very own Fox Theater, now called the Saban Theatre, resides in Beverly Hills on Wilshire/Hamilton near La Cienega. In fact, you can still catch the movie theatre vibes when looking at the exterior of the building. I attended a concert at this iconic spot and certainly have a lot of input as I had VIP passes, meet n greet and 1st row center seats (that's right, baby!). The Saban Theatre began our interaction on a sour note when I noticed that the tickets mentioned that attendees' purses/bags must be clear with contents clearly visible. I called the box office to confirm and literally got YELLED AT for asking. The male employee was super snappy/rude and acted like I was either the biggest nuisance ever or dumb. Good lord, fella! You work at a box office. Let's take the ego down a few notches! I did not appreciate this lack of customer service. For the record, they ended up not being strict about it at the door and let women in regardless of the purse not being clear. I'm glad I got yelled at for no reason! Sheesh! Street parking is available but metered so the Saban suggests parking directly across the street at 8484 Wilshire (not sure what the building actually is but they have a visitor parking garage). You simply cross the street and are at the Saban. But warning, it isn't cheap and set me back $24 (no cash, card pay kiosk, only).   Strike two with the Saban is the complete lack of communication amongst employees. They literally DO NOT know what they are doing (the Saban is powered by the same company that owns the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills). They didn't check in the VIP guests correctly handing out incorrect wrist bands, none of them knew where to send us, where we should go, etc. We asked to sit at one point and one of the staff acted like our butts are leper skin and he stammered thinking about it. What the heck?! It was a hot mess. I have been to 100 concerts as a fan (this was my 100th) and several more on tour across the US when I worked in the music industry and this was some of the most incompetent staff I've ever experienced. Either they yell at you on the phone or don't know how to do their jobs. The third strike has to do with Saban's absence of caring about the theater's integrity. This venue still retains some of it gorgeous golden Hollywood design but they are letting it go to waste. It simply looked old versus preserved. Everything needs a new coat of paint, new carpeting and general upkeep. Even the dressing rooms I entered as VIP were basic and outdated. It's very sad as it is an iconic space.  I had 1st row center against the stage and there was also a slight hiccup with the sound tech. I could hear the band singing just fine but anytime they chatted with the audience; I couldn't understand a a single word. This is venue specific because I've had 1st row most of the 100 concerts and this was never an issue, elsewhere. There are SOME plusses at the Saban: there is truly no bad seat in the house as the floor and balcony are on a huge slant - probably of the most obvious slants I've encountered and thusly is great for viewing the stage. The lighting is also primo and allowed me to grab fantastic photos. Trying to meet the band afterwards? The Saban has the perk of the performer entrance/exit being quite out in the open on Hamilton at the side/back of the building and they don't yell at you if you loiter trying to have your "Almost Famous" moment. The Saban isn't dreadful which is why I'm giving it three stars versus two; but they bluntly "need to get their shit together" starting with not yelling at patrons calling to ask a simple question, communicating to staff how to run a show and VIP and with the sprucing up of the venue itself including the sound tech/sound system (again, the music/singing was fine but the talking into microphones was like the teacher on Charlie Brown). It isn't a spot I would go back to on purpose but only because I had to for an act I follow. read more

Awful venue...made the mistake of sitting in last row orchestra. The door was opened every 45 seconds with theatre patrons coming and going for two straight hours. The lobby light was at full brightness so it was quite disruptive. The air did not work, hot as hades. The volunteers did not help late patrons, so they had their flashlight on looking for seats the ENTIRE show. Parking was silly, construction a mess right there. Long lines for bathrooms and bar, this is a skip in future for sure. Matthew McConaughey deserved better to kick off his cool book tour. read more

The SabanTheatre is a nice, clean venue with a great soundstage. The left and right architecture of the stage is lovely when lit up. I love that the sitting area in the lounge always has a booth you can purchase snacks!! Pringles, chocolate bars, trail mix, candy, water, and pop! For folks like me that don't have much time in between the drive time and arrival to show, I arrive HUNGRY with no time to get a meal. These snacks have been life saving!! The room has its own bathroom and bar area that you may use, and you may also use the upstairs bigger bathrooms (that's where I got into my wedding gown). They'll remove or provide tables and chairs, based on what you need. With its dramatic red velvet draperies, black and white checkered tile floor, and gold accents, it was the perfect venue for my small, art deco-themed wedding. read more

We just love the Saban Theatre. Located in Beverly Hills, there are several nice places to dine before a show. The Saban is an old movie house and has been completely restored to its art deco heyday. It is just stunning. Every detail was designed to make you as comfortable as possible. The place is small, like a movie house, with a lovely balcony. There is just not a bad seat in the house and the seats are super comfortable, not plastic, like so many venues. The neon is up and is so pretty. When you come in there is a large lobby with areas to get drinks or snacks and merch. Do bring cash, because some of the merch. areas only take cash. The rest is however you want to pay. There are two bars and lots of lobby seating to meet up with your group or just relax before the show. Once in, your seats are easy to find and again, they are so comfortable. This place is great for a concert or lecture or any other event. The sound system is wonderful. The stage is lovely and you can look anywhere and see the fine detail of the art deco. The bathrooms are upstairs but I am sure they have a special one in the lobby for ADA use. We saw The Temptations there and what a great show it was. We will be back again and again. Parking is not the easiest, but there are lots and street parking, mind the signs. The staff is super nice. Go there. read more

Lovely Theatre with a classy vibe, there were a couple of bars in the hall of the theatre with generous pours and extremely friendly bartenders. Snacks were also served but only wished they had a bigger variety of options. Crowd was nice and elegant as well. We attended Engelbert Humperdinck's concert and was a great show. Seats were wide and comfortable and were easy to get in and out when walking between them. No parking close by so taking an uber will be much more convenient, we went on a rainy night so I was so glad I did not drive there. Overall wonderful experience and would love to attend another concert at this Theatre. read more

The theatre is old but beautiful and small so any seat is decent. first off i dont understand why this and every other venue show million upcoming shows and you barely see marquee for your show for seconds. IMPOSSIBLE to take photo with the marquee why are they doing that? security was not up to date like sofi, bowl, kia forum where you dont have to take everything out of your pockets this you have to at least they were nice and didnt have to search forever. noone knows or gives right set times and info. i emailed before show was told show is 730 and ends 930. noone in theater knew anything. show started 747 and ended at 11:00 would like to have known that. coffee was $6 (hollywood bowl coffee is $4.75) ridiculous price for not that hot coffee and then of course they always want a tip its pathetic. the worst was woman upstairs was NOT helping you find your seat tells. me its up there she was not friendly not helpful and useless. why is she there? my seat was not as the seat was shown in my purchase. i picked it thinking id have noone in front of me and it was not at all it was a normal seat. of course a giraffe and an elephant in front blocking entire stage. thank god last half of upper balcony was empty so i just moved up to sit without people blocking my view. i also dont understand who thinks its okay to charge $50 for a t shirt and not give you a bag. its everywhere its ridiculous more money for less and less. restrooms small and crowded only ONE dryer for hands no paper towels. read more

Happy to say I am a new member at BHTOTA because of cantor lam. He is a great mentor, friend, and an inspiring leader. I'm happy he his here with rabbi David Baron as this synagogue gives him the GADOL he deserves. I attended my first service recently and it was absolutely lovely from start to finish. The community is warm and friendly, and most importantly, my forever cantor is here along with a fantastic rabbi. He's such a dear and encourages you to think after every sermon. I can see myself belonging to BHTOTA and my shul in OC for a long time. I also love The Saban Theatre and the history of the building. It is absolutely gorgeous. the famous architect S. Charles Lee *Simeon LEVI*, was Jewish... & was a genius when it came to theatre building. I am so grateful to have the privilege to daven at this historic landmark... Love the grandeur of the place (it's rare find anything as excellent or up to par with the Saban in LA.- just saying.). Thank you for clergy & staff at BHTOTA. HHDS is coming up, and I know everything will be magnificent. Went to see an event at The Saban a couple of months ago, good seats for about $75 and great food nearby at "La Paella", cool theater. Noticed there is a Rocky Horror live show next month with an appearance by Barry Bostwick and decided to fork over $129 for seats halfway back, and was stopped DEAD in my tracks at checkout by an obscene "service/other" fee of THIRTY NINE DOLLARS A TICKET. That's a 30% add-on for, well, nothing. Reminded me of clicking the little "X" in the upper right hand corner whenever an Airbnb listing tacks on a massive cleaning charge. Total bait and switch. I have never been to Saban Theatre much less, the area itself but, I had the opportunity to attend a special screening for an Anime that's about to premiere, yes, I'm a total nerd. Anyway, the premier was going to be held at Saban theatre and I have to say it's an absolutely beautiful venue. We got here about 30 mins before the show started so, I didn't have a lot of time to look around but, the staff were so nice and the inside, gorgeous! Such attention to detail when it came to the design and the chairs were pretty comfortable too. I don't know if it was due to the sound system or the production of the anime itself but, the sound was distorted at times. That can happen with big theatre's but, it took away from the pleasure of watching the show. I won't say too much about what I saw. I was super honored to visit and won't really be coming here unless there's another premiere or performance I'm interested in. read more

This is a great venue for a show. The issue is with the ushers who do not know the seating chart so they couldn't tell me the correct door to go through to get to my aisle seat and the concert already started. Also, the door number isn't printed on the AXS ticket. Seems like an easy fix and they should correct this. I'm unsure about the lighting. For the most part it was fine but during one or two songs I felt like I was being blinded. Some nearby residential streets is permit only so double check the signs. read more

Went to see Engelbert Humperdinck at the Saban Theater. Originally scheduled in October but was rescheduled to January. I was going to take my mom for her birthday since Engelbert and Tom Jones were her favorite performers but she wasn't feeling up for it. I took my older brother who got the consolation prize. Parking is easy at the underground parking lot adjacent to the theater. Staff was friendly and helped find our seats. Theater is small and clean with decent acoustics. We ate at Lawry's before the concert which is walking distance which is another plus. All and all a great time and a nice venue for more intimate performances. read more
