Selby Carpets have been established in Selby for many years, moving to these premises during the late 90's. Having built up a good reputation Selby Carpets took this and their customers with them to the new out of town superstore. Selby Carpets has expanded to include beds and mattresses, hardwood and real wood floors. Carpets and lino's are fitted free as part of the service, although for wooden flooring there is an extra charge. There is also a free pick up and view service if you do not have transport.

I would describe Heaven and Home as one of those little shops that is full of interesting and unusual knick-knacks, ideal for treats or gifts alike. The shop is run by a husband and wife team, who are very friendly. If you wanted something that is not in stock they will order it in from several of the catalogues that they carry. Heaven and Home stock a wide range of quality pottery, money boxes, small furniture, branded children books, pens, pencil cases to, glassware and some lovely hand-made cards. I took my friend there as she wanted presents for her bridesmaids and was delighted at what choice there was. This really is a pretty shop that is well worth a visit.

This store is well located right next door to the enormous Tesco Extra and I guess the majority of their trade comes from Tesco customers as you wouldn't be passing it otherwise. It therefore benefits from good parking, but strangely on the 2 occasions I've been in the shop it's been fairly quiet. With my limited knowledge of bath products, I would say that these guys sell good quality branded stuff, from the Eurpoean suppliers rather than the mass market carp that comes out of China. This does make a difference when you come to getting old Joe the plumber to put it all together! Pricey, but they're negotiable, and the owner seems to be hands on, so worth having a chat if you're serious about buying something. They have another larger showroom just off Wheatley Hall Rd which has more stuff to look at as well.

It might seem like small minded fun but it's nice to have an aimless wander and a natter with something none-too-challenging to browse whilst doing so. Think of it like watching Hollyaks whilst eating your tea, or similar. Something a little 'dumbed down' to eat to and then you can go back to some serious thinking. My friend and I wandered into KD Carpets and we were met by a sea of samples. Samples of all different finishes, styles and well, the colour range was mostly in the naturals and beige department. But then, unless you are my Dad and want a sort of sunset terracotta colour, I imagine most people would want something natural to go with all kinds of furnishings. They also had a number of different laminate options for kitchens and bathrooms too, so on the flooring front it seemed as though all bases were covered. It seemed as though the more expensive the carpet the smoother the feel was, with the 'festival' sample (£11.99) feeling a little more rough to the touch than the 'sensation' (£17.99). All in all we didn't stay too long, as we were only browsing, but it seemed like a fairly extensive carpet shop. They had a range of pretty decent looking mattresses too so it's a pretty handy shop to know about if you are kitting your house out! They are also open 7 days a week, and the chap in there seemed really nice and friendly too. Not bad!

They came out to measure up at a time that suited us, gave professional advice through the whole process! When in and fitting the carpets they were so polite and did such an amazing job - they took away all mess and old carpet so that we didn't have to worry about it. I would never go anywhere else for flooring!!!

Prices here are very reasonable, so for anyone looking to spruce up their home with some pretty curtains or upholstery, you could certainly do worse than a trip to E.G. Interior Fabrics.
