I struggle with significant anxiety around doctors, especially in clinical settings, and instead of feeling supported, I felt judged and spoken down to. The provider I met with had very poor bedside manner and made assumptions about me and my body within minutes of meeting me. At one point, she even commented that I was "getting bright red" while questioning me, which only heightened my anxiety. I was too nervous to speak up in the moment. What stood out the most was being told multiple times that I "never have to come back" and could just return to the Smithtown location. That felt unprofessional and dismissive--especially given that I had just paid a significant amount out of pocket for the visit. To make matters worse, I was informed that treatment would require a follow-up appointment, leaving me feeling stuck after spending money on a visit that ultimately didn't help me. I deeply regret not staying with my original location. I've referred many friends and family members to Schweiger Dermatology over the years and truly value the practice as a whole, which is why this experience was so disappointing.
