The provider I met with had very poor bedside manner and made assumptions about me and my body within minutes of meeting me. At one point, she even commented that I was "getting bright red" while questioning me, which only heightened my anxiety. I was too nervous to speak up in the moment. What stood out the most was being told multiple times that I "never have to come back" and could just return to the Smithtown location. That felt unprofessional and dismissive--especially given that I had just paid a significant amount out of pocket for the visit. To make matters worse, I was informed that treatment would require a follow-up appointment, leaving me feeling stuck after spending money on a visit that ultimately didn't help me. I deeply regret not staying with my original location. They sanitize and disinfect their nail tools using an autoclave, which is located beside the wall mirror in the pedicure room. After sterilization, the tools are stored in sealed pouches. Technicians also open fresh pouches containing new emery boards and nail buffers for each client. I've included photos of several of these pouches for reference. As with most salons, nail polishes and cuticle oils are shared among clients, which can increase the risk of fungal infections or other issues. Because of that, I bring my own polish and cuticle oil. I once got a nail fungus at another salon -- it took a year to clear up with prescription treatment, so now I'm extra cautious. I've also had manicures here and noticed that pumice stones sometimes show visible wear, which suggests they may be reused among clients. That's something I hope the salon addresses. Overall, I appreciate Minerva Nail and Spa's attention to cleanliness, and I'll continue to come here for reliable, well-done services.
