Fatbee Cafe - Taro Ube Freeze and Mango On Fire

Don't sleep on this boba tea cafe!!! As the frugal pros say, never shop with an empty stomach! I got to try two drinks: the Fatbee milk tea and jasmine green milk tea, both with less ice, brown sugar boba, less ice, and 50% sweet. Fatbee uses condensed/evaporated milk in their milk teas, so it gives a really thick, luxurious mouthfeel when you drink it. It makes you want to savor the drink instead of gulping it down. 50% sweet is perfect since the brown sugar boba is already sweetened and gives the drink the perfect balance. The tea flavor really comes through and isn't lost among the milk and sugar. The boba is very bouncy and chewy. It's amazing. I'll be returning!

Huge plaza area so there's ample parking. Fatbee Milk Tea w/ Boba - boba was decent. Chewy but not particularly flavorful, could be marinated longer. Tea was a classic house black tea with creamer. Tasted more on the dark side. Nothing special but satisfies a typical black milk tea craving. Taro Ube Freeze - a cup of creamy goodness. Blended extremely smooth and flavorful. Both the taro and ube nuttiness were shining and the coldness was soothing. Honestly such a refreshing and addicting drink, I snagged another one for the trip home. Highly recommend.

I love Hechalou Tea House! Went for the first time on a weekday afternoon and it was pretty empty…read more The decorations are reminiscent of the neon lights at an Asian night market - super cool. The girls at the front were so friendly and nice - they made my experience great. Service was incredibly fast. The drink was ready before I even finished paying! I got the toffee milk tea with matcha jelly at 30% sugar and 70% ice. This was the IDEAL combination. Perfectly sweet with a hint of the bitterness from the tea. The matcha jelly was firm and earthy, I broke it up with the straw and it was the perfect topping. One of the best milk teas I've had in a while. I will definitely be back to try their other flavors. I'm a huge fan of the tea jelly toppings and it's so refreshing on a hot day.

The boba here is perfectly chewy and sweetened. I am not much of a jelly person, but they're pretty good too. I once got a drink with both boba and jelly and it didn't leave much room for the tea, so I have to limit myself to one topping now! The black tea is slightly muted with the milk there, so that there's no astringency. The buckwheat tea has a pretty strong toasty buckwheat flavor. Yum! Initially, when this business opened, parking was horrible with people jousting for street parking (with an already busy Goodwill down the street) and people parking at the plaza across the street (which will get you towed). Now that the hype has died down, you can use the Ember parking garage around the corner, although it's kind of annoying to park in.

There were other people who stayed until they closed. They have a variety of milk teas, fruit teas, snack foods, desserts and more. Fortunately, there was no traffic so it was a 20 min drive easily. However, a lot seemed to have changed from about a year ago? We got popcorn chicken which was $9 for a very tiny plate (like the medium size sampler food container you get at food tasting events) which is a joke of a portion, and the chicken was not even good quality - heavy on the batter. Compared to pictures a year ago, where the portions looked much much larger. They are so stingy on the amount of chicken, that I thought they were giving us a sample to try before they make a real batch lmaooooo. I tried the Kocochi milk tea with creme brulee, boba, jelly, etc. Sounds good on paper, inflation I get it, was expecting $7 but it was $8, plus tax, so it is actually not that competitive of a price anymore now that I think about it. I could get a very good quality boba drink for $7.50+tax elsewhere without all the fancy toppings, but with boba included. I was pretty disappointed with the quality. The boba is so overcooked that it is mushy, and the creme brulee was not thick enough that I have to use a spoon to even be able to get any of it out (instead of being able to drink it from the other side which is what it is supposed to be). I'd avoid this place unless this is a one off but I will need to be redeemed a better experience before recommending this place. There are better options in the area

I have visited this spot at least three times now and I have never had a bad experience. The employees here are polite and ensure to get your order right every time. I come here for the bingsus mostly but the drinks here are great too. This most recent visit, my boyfriend and I got their cookies and cream bingsu. They were extremely busy and all the tables and chairs were taken up by bigger groups but my boyfriend and I were able to find one table with two chairs and we sat down to wait for our order. After several minutes, our order was ready and the presentation and generous portion for the price is perfect for two people. I love that it comes with a little thing of condensed milk as that really makes each bite more creamy and tasty. They usually have utensils but it looked like they have been so busy that plastic ones were given to us. However, I think that is great cause this spot is one of the better Korean cafe spots in Washington that my family is willing to drive to Lynnwood from Federal Way. They have way more better offerings, better layout and overall vibes.
