There are many food and dining options, various retail stores, everything imaginable. It's fairly easy to navigate. Free Wi-Fi available. If you're from the United States and you're catching an Uber, be prepared to move fast to get your Uber. Don't order an Uber assuming there will be a typical delay of two or three minutes like in the United States. We had to pay our Uber driver a small waiting fee because of the time it took us to get from the door of the train station to the Uber.

Meaning, there are a lot of businesses that line the walls of this station. This is a multi-level train station. They have escalators and elevators to take you to the various levels. So, getting around is not too difficult. As this is the main station of Berlin, as can be expected, you may encounter a lot of people here. The moment you begin to walk towards the station you can expect to encounter a lot of people puling their suitcases and carrying their bags. Plus, a lot of people running late, jamming their way through the crowds. My suggestion is to plan to get there a little early if you have a train to catch. As mentioned, there is also a lot of businesses that line the walls of this station. These are mostly food stands and convenience markets, but there is a few other places where you can grab some clothing and stuff the like. More than just a train station, Berlin Hauptbahnhof is a gathering spot. They have a music venue and a outdoor food stand area on the back side of this station, over by the river. So, this is not only a place to grab that train, to get whereever it is you are going to, but a place to sit back and enjoy the Berlin Outdoor life, as well.

From the train station, connections to other modes of transportation are directly outside the station. You could take the N14 or N17 bus to a location about a 5 min walk from Park Sansoucci, and another 12 minutes to Schloß Sansoucci. Headed in a different, I took tram 96 to bus 603 that takes you to a bus stop that's a 5 minute walk to the entrance of Schloß Cecilienhof; this route takes about 35 minutes. Inside the station, there are plentiful retail and food options, no lack of things to keep you occupied if you are waiting for your train to arrive. The layout of the station is very straightforward, from the main entrance you go up a set of escalators and there's a walkway straight that leads to all platforms. Good thing is there's no lack of signs with train info. The interior of the station is also very clean. A good number of attractions and restaurants are located within a 15 minute walk of the station as well, including Museum Barberini, Filmmuseum Potsdam, St. Nikolaikirche Potsdam.

The station itself beside trains station, it's also a super mall. You could find a lot different shops and restaurants here, even like Media Markt you also could find it here. It's really convenient. If you have to wait for your train, then you just hang around and do some shopping. In front of the station, there are tram stations and bus stations. There are so many different line here that allow you to travel with it all around the city Potsdam. If you already have the area C of Berlin ticket, the you don't have to buy other ticket here, but remember to check your ticket is that only one direction and couple times. If you got only one time, then you got to buy a new ticket when next time you take any public transportations again. I found the system quite fair though. From the railway station to the city center of Potsdam usually took around 4-5 mins by public transportations. If you come here to visit, that's actually save a lot time. So you could start at the city center, explore all the famous sightseeings here. Don't miss the beautiful Sanssouci castle and garden. And Potsdam itself is a very beautiful city as well. At the end, personally I like this station a lot, quite well-organized and clean. There are information stand and free map for people who needs help. And definitely it won't to be bored, even I have to wait here. Instead of just siting here, I could go to do some shopping or just check out some new books in the book shop. Fantastic!

Bahnhof Berlin-Schönefeld Flughafen is the Railway Station serving Berlin-Schonefield Airport,…read moreSchonefield is an area just outside Berlin, in the Eastside, which boasts one of the two airports in the city, the smaller and more run-down Airport, used by budget airlines. The station its-self was really unfriendly and unwelcoming and was my first experience of a train station in Germany, compared to train stations in more central Berlin, this place is like a dump. There doesn't appear to be a huge staff presence around the station, and most of which didn't speak English, in my opinion, the location of this train station mainly to serve the Airport, they should be able to cope with tourists speaking multiple different languages. There also seemed to be a lack of maps and direction around the station, I ended up getting a ticket and the machine was very slow and went off quickly, often forcing me to start again, then I was told to validate the ticket and I didn't know where to go, in the end, this whole system was a confusing mess for me and made difficult from this station. There also wasn't also a huge amount of things around the station such as shops and cafes, while also considering the lack of staff and overall nature of this station feeling old, horrible and unwelcoming and like it has had no work done to make the station nicer since opening in 1952 (although the station/trains were electrified in the 60's and 80's), this station is really poor and that's a shame, hence warranting a single one-star rating.

It is served by the main train lines to get into the city centre as well as the tram service for local services. However, you do need to do your homework before you travel as there is no ticket station or any staff to ask about tickets etc. You get tickets from self service machines but it's not clear at all what tickets you need etc Schonefeld is in zone C. If you're travelling into the city centre, you will need a ticket covering zones ABC or BC depending on where your hotel is exactly. You can either get a single journey or a day ticket which can be used on any of the modes of transport in that zone for the whole of that day To be fair, Berlin is extremely well catered for in terms of public transport - the city is criss cossed by the Unter-bahn (subway), the S-bahn (trams) and buses. Stops are all clearly signposted to help you find a station I think Germans are obviously more honest than residents in the UK as there are no barriers at stations. I didn't see any ticket inspectors on the trains as well. I can well imagine the German nation being that honest - after all, this is a society that will wait patiently at pedestrian crossings until the man turns green even though there's no traffic One last tip - the express trains run from the platform furthest away from the airport. Nice large double decker trains service this line but there are no specific luggage racks for suitcases. The journey into the city centre takes about 20-30 minutes depeneding on which stop you need
