When I reached out to Omar to come out for a quote I had several things on my "wish list" including: 1. Complete bathroom remodel 2. Replacing all the can lighting in the kitchen, living room, office and bedroom 3. Painting the entire condo 4. Installing all new dimmer light switches 5. Installing a new smart thermostat 6. Installing all new HVAC vent covers 7. Reinforcing loose kitchen cabinets 8. Changing the kitchen amp from 15 to 20amp Omar was quick to show me pictures of other similar work he had done and offered his expert opinion during our walk thorough. He was also very detailed in the quote he quickly sent over after the visit. I couldn't be happier that I got to work with Omar for my condo renovations and have only positive feedback to share. A couple key highlights I wanted to make sure I shared from my AMAZING experience: - Affordable - Flexible- started earlier than the date anticipated and completed ALL the work in under two weeks - Respectful to my neighbors with working hours and acknowledged that some people work from home and worked to minimize the noise - Communication- him and his crew kept me in the loop every step of the way - Accommodating/Easy to work with- for the materials I ordered the larger items (bathroom mirror, vanity, shower door, medicine cabinet, tile, etc.) but Omar was great with getting the materials that he knew the specific quantities he would need (paint, grout, spacers, etc.) which I found very helpful. He also built the shower base out of concrete and had me return the plastic base I purchased to ensure better/long-term quality - CLEAN- him and his crew left the place very clean once all the demo was done and I returned home I will absolutely recommend Omar to my family and friends and I am excited to work with him on any future projects I have (photos attached). Pretty sure this is the company that did maintenance for my apartment building awhile back. Our…read moretoilet seat was always coming loose so they would send one man (can't remember his name) who would come look at it, decide it needs to be replaced, go get the new seat, and come back to quickly switch it out. The last time he came for this issue he was upset that the seat was broken again and kept asking me why I broke it as if it was my fault. I was like wtf dude I don't know!?? He raised his voice and cursed at me. I told him he cannot speak to me like that. He ignored me. I told him to leave several times and he refused. He stole our toilet seat and finally left. I should have called the police but I called my property manager and she worked out with Omar that they would send a different guy to give us a new toilet seat. Me and my roommate (both women) were left without a toilet seat for hours. To make matters worse, Omar asked my property manager for my phone number so he could call and "apologize" directly. He gaslighted me about the fact that the dude intentionally stole our toilet seat and basically defended the guy's character after he had just intimidated and stolen from me in my own home. We actually argued back and forth for a bit, it was completely disrespectful.

Thomas Restoration came in about 20% cheaper than the other Oak Park premium painter (Ronbo). We tried to get a proposal from another "Oak Park" firm (which is actually just an Oak Park mail drop) and they never even came back with a proposal. Twelve years ago, we had the house painted and went cheap and regretted it. We definitely got our moneys worth with Thomas Restoration. Highly recommend.

Back in May/June 2025, I hired Handy Gentlemen for interior work on my house. It is now…read moremid-September. David, the owner, seems like a nice guy, and he did a good job replacing the tiles on my bathroom floor, and he (mostly his assistant) did a lot of painting, which on the whole looks good. But see below... The big issues were what I discovered after he was finished and had left: fresh paint stains in multiple areas, including the wood floor of my 19th century house and even furniture - which I cleaned up. Splattered paint near the ceiling of my kitchen which still, three months later, has not been patched, paint stains on my oriental rug, a major purchase 40 years ago, etc. David said he would pay for the rug damage, and I only asked for 50% of the very reasonable $175 cleaning cost. David told me to bill him via Zelle, something I said I'm not sure how to do. He already has my Zelle information, since that's how I paid him for the work. But after messaging him and emailing several times, he has not responded. And I still have paint streaks on the wall and an unpaid bill. So I can't recommend Handy Gentlemen. I think part of the problem is that David is under-manned and a bit overwhelmed, but not responding to my messages is unprofessional.

Learning that Robert Prasek had done work in my building, and knew the building personnel and…read moreprocedures, I met with him. Robert was personable and seemed competent to do electrical work, painting, and the laying of flooring in my unit. Most of the electrical work was satisfactory. The painting was not only unskillful and sloppy; in a matter of months a portion had bubbled. Moreover, for parts of the bathroom, the wrong kind of paint was used. Additionally, there was paint splatter on furniture, mirrors, and new flooring. In some areas, where the carpeting had to be removed, it was fragmented, leaving pieces where the new flooring should have been laid. Some edges and corners of the new flooring were patched and incomplete. The entire job, though quoted as taking two to three weeks, took well over a month. In trying to get issues resolved, I was left with a bigger headache. Finally, for the sake of my sanity, I had to let it go. I'm at fault for not doing my due diligence, and left to deal with the consequences.
