Just had a discussion with Cindy and this review is heavily based on our chat. She has a wholesome approaching students by integrating all aspects of their life into their lessons, and believes one's emotions can be expressed by playing the piano, and I believe she is quite genuine about it. In her lessons, I do remember her emphasis on the fundamentals including posture, which reinforces discipline on the student, but she also aspires for creativity in the student. Overall, I'd recommend her due to her passion to inspire the youth in music. She has a gentle but strict approach which I think is a good fit for children, and you can expect to feel challenged and enlightened after your lessons.

The piano for use during lessons is great to play on. The books for the curriculum of music and theory have been a joy to work in, and have seriously helped me progress. I feel more and more confident with playing and reading music after each lesson. He teaches children and adults! 31year old here!

He's a skilled and talented instructor, who has been firm, yet patient; with an impressive resume of experience! He has taught her a high level of music theory and abilities, which our daughter will benefit from for a lifetime. Through music, our daughter has developed a love for The Arts, while excelling in math and science. I'm not sure what the research says, but I believe we've seen a synergetic link, between music and intellectual growth. Her level of music knowledge has surpassed all expectations; and her voice has developed from soft tentative peep, to a beautiful, blossoming soprano-- with assuredly more growth ahead. Above all, she has developed a diverse appreciation and love for music. None which would've been possible, without Mr. Hagen's talent as skilled musician, artist and teacher. Whether piano, voice or both, we highly recommend John Hagen for Families, Adults or Children who want to develop their inner talent and abilities, bringing them to the forefront.

I'm a pianist and a piano teacher, so I do have high expectations when it comes to private lessons, but Rachel definitely exceeds them all. She is amazingly helpful and so inspiring that I practice violin for a few hours everyday!!! Her teaching style is very fun yet productive. I'm learning SO MUCH every week. As a first violinist for the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, needless to say, she is an excellent violinist, so just listening to her playing itself is my inspiration! Aside from being a wonderful teacher, she is the sweetest person as well. If you are looking for a great violin teacher in town, you've found her! I feel very fortunate to have her as my teacher.

We tried Gymboree and…read moreKindermusik in the past and for various reasons were not very pleased, so I was VERY skeptical about signing up, as I was thinking maybe Music classes just aren't for us? Living in Kaneohe, the location is one of the reasons I decided to try it out. It is located right across the street from Windward Mall, lots of parking, very convenient. Both my daughters have taken classes at Music for You. My youngest has participated since 18 months. I really helped with her speech development, confidence and also learning to sit in a circle and interacting with a group. We love the songs that we learn at class, and sing them often. My preschooler participated in Music For You in summer 2011. She was able to learn a variety of songs and thoroughly enjoyed all of the fun activities. For my preschooler, I think it helped to improve/ develop her listening skills as well as her ability to concentrate and follow directions in a group setting. As a parent, I love that I don't need to participate in the preschool class. Parent participation in the toddler class is required, but I enjoyed it. I am not a dancer, so I was VERY relieved that "movement" activities are kept at a minimum... YIPEE!! Deb, the owner, is seriously the nicest and sweetest person ever. She is so caring and concerned about the kids. You can truly tell that she loves what she does and this is definitely her calling. she is a mother too, and I really feel like that makes a HUGE difference. Deb has wonderful control of her class, they run smoothly and effectively, making great use of the class time. She keeps kids engaged. she has such a wonderful warm way of interacting with the kids and getting them to participate and to feel comfortable. We highly recommend Music For You!

The instructor/owner Deb is wonderful! You could not ask for a more kind, caring and nurturing teacher for your child. She makes the classes so fun with puppets, instruments, dancing, jumping, singing, you name it! Once a child starts singing, they never stop and it's a wonderful thing to hear!!! I can't say enough good things about Music for You, it's a wonderful experience for both you and your child! I recommend it highly!!
