In that time, she's made it to Piano Adventures, Book 3, and earned Akiko's "Most Improved Piano Student" award at her students' last recital. More importantly for me, Akiko has fostered my daughter's growing love for the instrument. Her warm but firm teaching manner has helped this piano student stick with it despite the other interests vying for an 11-year old's attention. Thank you, Akiko, for being a teacher who inspires my daughter to try to do her very best and to keep learning! Cathy Petticord

We tried Gymboree and…read moreKindermusik in the past and for various reasons were not very pleased, so I was VERY skeptical about signing up, as I was thinking maybe Music classes just aren't for us? Living in Kaneohe, the location is one of the reasons I decided to try it out. It is located right across the street from Windward Mall, lots of parking, very convenient. Both my daughters have taken classes at Music for You. My youngest has participated since 18 months. I really helped with her speech development, confidence and also learning to sit in a circle and interacting with a group. We love the songs that we learn at class, and sing them often. My preschooler participated in Music For You in summer 2011. She was able to learn a variety of songs and thoroughly enjoyed all of the fun activities. For my preschooler, I think it helped to improve/ develop her listening skills as well as her ability to concentrate and follow directions in a group setting. As a parent, I love that I don't need to participate in the preschool class. Parent participation in the toddler class is required, but I enjoyed it. I am not a dancer, so I was VERY relieved that "movement" activities are kept at a minimum... YIPEE!! Deb, the owner, is seriously the nicest and sweetest person ever. She is so caring and concerned about the kids. You can truly tell that she loves what she does and this is definitely her calling. she is a mother too, and I really feel like that makes a HUGE difference. Deb has wonderful control of her class, they run smoothly and effectively, making great use of the class time. She keeps kids engaged. she has such a wonderful warm way of interacting with the kids and getting them to participate and to feel comfortable. We highly recommend Music For You!

She has learned so much in the classes, from incorporating music, beat and movements, pitch exploration, repetition, songtales, and has learned so many wonderful songs! As a homeschooled preschooler, I strongly feel that these classes enrich my daughter, not only through music, but in learning important classroom and social skills, and confidence building through singing. The instructor/owner Deb is wonderful! You could not ask for a more kind, caring and nurturing teacher for your child. She makes the classes so fun with puppets, instruments, dancing, jumping, singing, you name it! Once a child starts singing, they never stop and it's a wonderful thing to hear!!! I can't say enough good things about Music for You, it's a wonderful experience for both you and your child! I recommend it highly!!

Just had a discussion with Cindy and this review is heavily based on our chat. She has a wholesome approaching students by integrating all aspects of their life into their lessons, and believes one's emotions can be expressed by playing the piano, and I believe she is quite genuine about it. In her lessons, I do remember her emphasis on the fundamentals including posture, which reinforces discipline on the student, but she also aspires for creativity in the student. Overall, I'd recommend her due to her passion to inspire the youth in music. She has a gentle but strict approach which I think is a good fit for children, and you can expect to feel challenged and enlightened after your lessons.

It is AMAZING. Whether you have infants or older toddlers, this class is like no other- the teachers are upbeat, engaging and passionate, and put so much thought into each semester, which is called a different instrument (so cute!) Along with a songbook, you also get a CD (my daughter loved this during car rides as well as at home), and honestly the songs are probably the best I've heard for kids (they're similar to the Laurie Berkner Band, where they encourage movement, following direction and acting things out along with the music which is awesome for toddlers!) We are Music Together's biggest fans- we continued with their Zoom classes while quarantined (so thankful that they continued), and even without all the class perks of instruments, scarves, parachutes, fairy lights, etc. my daughter was glued to Zoom the whole session. She still knows songs by heart from previous semesters! She's due to begin preschool soon and I'm very close to having her miss a day just so she can do her music and dance classes, lol. It gives her so much joy- she's a dancing singing little soul by heart and needs classes like Music Together in her life!!!

The concept is to expose your little one to music through spending 45 minutes singing, dancing and moving with your child and other families. The teachers lead the class through singing and encouraging parents to do the same. Even the worse singer...hahaha...me sounds good when blending your voice with a great lead. Christina quickly makes the group comfortable through singing the hello song and then switching song to song mixed in with movements with filmy scarves, instruments in bags, and lively dancing. The class is definitely upbeat and songs are very easy to learn. Even if you cannot carry a tune the class is a great way to start the morning and just sing! Not to mention it's very good family time!
