George and Keith were wonderful. My 45 year old Kawai acoustic piano wouldn't play anymore. George's and Keith made me feel comfortable and didn't rush or pressure me. It took several visits and a special piano order to help me to choose an electronic piano that sounded and felt like my old Kawai. read more

Keith is a true gem who is passionate about his craft and it shows. I needed help as we are down sizing. He offered his assistance in the form of information. We got a wee off topic, as things do when you are enjoying company, and ended up discussing history, mechanics, maintenance, and intricate/nuanced details- all things I am interested in as it is part of my job- just in a different application. This was a fascinating conversation from a music perspective. I really feel he was born to teach and pass the gift onto others. He was even so kind to call back and connect me with someone who plays at a church in need of a piano! How perfect was that! He is a great conversationist, and a wealth of knowledge. I learned so much today. Thank you Keith! If you'd like to hear him play, he is at The Signature, Friday through Tuesday evening. But, Im sure if you ask, he would gladly show you what your future piano is capable of. No matter your price point, he can find the right fit for you. :) read more

We had an excellent experience with the Piano Planet team where we eventually navigated the challenges of learning how buying a "new piano" can be confusing and bewildering to the uninitiated. Happily, there's a beautiful new piano gracing our home after trying 10 or so different pianos at the main store and settling on one that will allow our little one to learn, graced with the redolent tones of warm piano strings. We really appreciate the patience as we worked through expectations and communication snags and heartily recommend Piano Planet. Remember to try your piano, and be clear on what you're looking for (or if you don't know..!) It's not a car; it's not a computer - it's a part of your family...! read more

Extremely pretentious sales man. Kept pushing the opposite of what we wanted. We wanted a basic, simple set up. And he said we asked for the "bottom of the selection." And proceeded to explain why. We had environmental, spacial, accessibility , and auditory reasons for our choices. We did our research and knew what we wanted. We knew the model and what inventory they already had. Well, we will take our business elsewhere. He did apologize as we asked to be let out. He realized he spoke down on us. read more

Owner was extremely rude & condescending to us the whole time, also tried to intentionally rip us off when trying to purchase a piano for our son. I first learned about Piano Planet soon after I moved to Hawaii. Located along the Nimitz Highway, it is in a large commercial facility. There is easy access to the parking lot. I recently visited the showroom after about 10 years. There were a lot of my favorite pianos lined up in the showroom just as there had been ten years ago. The current president, George, attended me during my visit this time. He was delighted that I knew of the store for 10 years and he listened to my story eagerly. I've been active as a manager of piano classes and music productions for many years, but now I told him that I want to enjoy music purely for myself. What he proposed was an electronic piano that I could play without hesitation even at night. As a music professional, I've always had some resistance to electronic pianos. But they have good points: I don't have to tune them, the installed bluetooth and headphones mean I can play them anytime without worrying about disturbing the neighbors, and electronic pianos are more affordable than acoustic pianos. Taking these things into consideration, I decided to buy Roland's new grand piano that he recommended. The price for the white color was $1000 higher than for a black one, but I chose the white grand type. It was just delivered and it fits nicely in my renovated room. As expected, as George said, the piano's tone and touch do not give up anything to acoustic pianos. A piano has been my professional instrument for many years, but now it's finally time for me to play the piano freely, just for fun; so I'm really happy! George seems to specialize in guitar, but his piano skills are quite nice. I felt that the melody of the piano he casually played expressed his feelings for music that he cultivated over many years. read more

My wife and I came into the shop looking to purchase a piano for our family. We are not experts by any means and Keith took the time to explain the many options they had available. Keith was very pleasant to work with and generous with his time, eventually guiding us to a handful of options that were best suited for our needs. Great customer service is a rarity these days but you can still find it here. read more

Piano Planet is a local piano business that has been around for twenty plus years. George Nellas, Owner sold us a Yamaha U1 upright piano nineteen years ago. The Yamaha was a refurbished piano from Japan. My daughter practiced for her recitals on that piano while the rest of the family played songs, chop sticks and enjoyed the piano. It gave us lots of great memories. Last week, we happened to stopped by Piano Planet and George was there. He helped us as I inquired about the Kawai and Yamaha pianos. He was very helpful and answered all my questions. Being a Steinway dealer, he does not carry the Yamaha acoustic line in the store. George showed me his Kawai GL and Boston GP lines. He explained the connections Steinway has with these brand of pianos. It was very informative. I told him that I may be interested in a used piano and shared what I was looking for. He told me to drop him an email and he would send me info on the Boston and Kawai lines. He also mentioned that he would provide a quote for a new Kawai he had in the store. We left feeling good about what was shared. I sent an email and thanked him for his help and time. Later that day, George sends me info about the pianos and a quote. We purchased and traded in our piano and got a Kawai Baby Grand. George made it happen. His helpful information, care and service was so appreciated. It is what I believe kept him in businesses all these years. He builds relationships and connections with his patrons. That relationship and connection brings you back when you are in the market for a piano. Loyalty and honesty seems to be other qualities he possesses as shared by many on Yelp. Evidence of his loyalty is with "S and S Piano Inc. delivery service." They delivered my piano (Yamaha) nineteen years ago and today.....delivered my new piano to my home. They were fast, efficient, and courteous. It does say a lot when companies work together for these many years. Thank you very much George Nellas of Piano Planet for our new Kawai piano. It's going to bring us continued joy and memories. This is a heirloom for my family. If you are in the market for a new piano.......don't hesitate and check out Piano Planet and see George Nellas, President. read more

I would highly recommend Piano Planet to anyone looking for a quality piano (acoustic or electric). Not only do they have a stellar selection of various grand and upright pianos, the service was very warming and welcoming. I made an appointment with Keith, who right from the start, made me feel at home and comfortable in the store. He kindly walked me through all the various sounds, mechanisms, and various qualities of each piano. Furthermore, Piano Planet's collection of Steinway and Son's is absolutely magnificent. I was blown away by the range of pianos they had available. If you are looking to purchase an extravagant acoustic piano, this place takes the cake. Also, I would like to personally recommend Keith as your trusted piano advisor. He was extremely knowledgeable in my personal needs as a piano enthusiast. I felt his sincereness. Also, I did not feel like he was trying to make me purchase the most expensive piano in my price range, but help me explore which piano was BEST for me. What more could you ask? Thank you so much, Keith! Not only are you a fantastic piano advisor, you are an inspirational player. Cheers and Mahalo, Charles read more

Inventory of acoustic pianos includes new and pre-owned. Kawai, Boston and of course Steinway. Digital - Kawai and Roland. They go out of their way to take care of their customers. Our family was traveling last week, visiting Oahu, and made a visit to Piano Planet for our adult son. Our son has autism and has perfect pitch, and also is a certified piano tuner. Needless to say, our son deeply loves pianos. All pianos. But, he has a special interest in Steinway & Sons pianos, which Piano Planet carries. We had been planning on returning to Oahu for about a year before we did. Our son was researching piano dealers in Hawaii, determined to visit one while there on vacation. He found Piano Planet online and that was it. He declared that we had to visit while in Hawaii! We showed up to Piano Planet. It looked like a museum from the outside. Absolutely gorgeous and top-notch. The doors were locked and there was a sign that said, "please ring the bell if you do not have an appointment." So we rang the bell. We were greeted by Keith, the employee on site that day. At first, he peeked his head out of the unlocked door and asked how he could help us. We explained that our son was waiting for a year to see the store, that he has autism, perfect pitch, and is a certified piano tuner. He kindly let us in. My son was overjoyed! This trip to Piano Planet was "a dream come true" for him, as he said in his own words. It was one of the top two highlights from his entire trip. This store and Lanikai Beach. Because the pianos there in the store are in mint condition (never touched or used) our son was not allowed to play the majority of the pianos in the store, which is totally understandable. They are sold as brand new. But, Keith did allow him to play a Steinway & Sons in the back, one that was used and allowed to be touched! Our son was absolutely elated. Keith even played for the three of us, and he is an amazing pianist. The experience was awesome. No, we were not in the market to purchase a Steinway & Sons at this time. It is way out of our price range which makes the trip to the store and Keith's customer service all the more special. We let him know up front that, no, we were not going to be purchasing. Yet, he was still kind to all of us. I would highly recommend this store if you are looking to purchase a piano. Ask for Keith! read more

Does anyone have $157,000 that I can borrow to buy my dream piano? Piano Planet was nice enough to host my children's piano recital and a $157,000 piano is what they got to play on. Whoa, Mickey Mouse Club March never sounded so amazing! What I love about Piano Planet is not just the beautiful instruments, but that you don't feel as though you're in museum where you can't touch anything. At Piano Planet my little seven year old fiddled and faddled her fingers all over pianos that cost upwards of $90,000 and no one blinked an eye. A man who I can only assume is the infamous George just smiled as he dusted off the instruments. Did I scare you with the jaw dropping price tags? Well I'm happy to say that you don't need to saw off your arm for a beautiful piano as they sell pre-owned as well as new merchandise. I saw an upright piano for just under $3000 and it was in great condition. I've decided to cut out the lattes as I'm saving up for my $157,000 grand piano and hope that it'll be under the Christmas tree one of these days... read more

Piano Planet is one of the best piano stores I've been to. Having lived in NYC, their overall quality and attention to detail are comparable and impeccable, if not better than some of my mainland experiences. George and Keith are two delightful locals who are so patient and kind when you are shopping and browsing. You can try as many pianos and ask as many questions as you want. Best of all? There is absolutely no pressure in purchasing a piano. They have pianos for all levels. From Steinways to Kawai, they carry pretty much anything. The prices are fair and they can work with you to see what's the best fit. I will most definitely refer all my friends and family to check them out for their piano needs. It is definitely worth stopping by. Support local! read more

Didn't get halfway through the store before the sales person yelled at my three-year-old twice to not touch the piano. We were there to buy her a piano. What is she supposed to do, Just look at them? To put it in perspective it wasn't like she was banging on the piano. She literally just touched the key The worst service I have ever received in my life, lost me as a customer before spending one minute inside the store Would never buy from this place after this experience completely rude. Really sketchy feeling when they keep their door locked and wait by the door to let you in and then lock the door again behind you. You would think these guys are selling diamonds instead of pianos, who is going to snatch and grab a piano. Very uncomfortable experience. read more

My daughter turned 16 this year and we wanted to get her a new piano. But because of the maintenance to keep a piano here in Hawaii with the humidity and such we were looking for a digital. My daughter has been using just a keyboard. I emailed Piano Planet to check their inventory. Right away Keith M. replied back. He asked me some questions about what we were looking for and when I answered him back. He replied again quickly to let me know what options they had. We first wanted a mini grand digital mostly for aesthetics but it was out of our budget. Keith was so awesome and gave us options for our budget. We made an appointment with him and my husband and kids went to try out the pianos. They were impressed with all the pianos but also Keith's expertise. They came home thrilled! They found the perfect one thanks to Keith. We went with a Roland Upright that sounds like a grand piano. It sounds awesome but also looks beautiful. Thanks so much Keith and Piano Planet! We live on Kauai and have no stores that sell pianos on island so contacted Piano Planet located on Oahu. Due to the pandemic all our communication with George Nellas, was done via email. George was great about letting us know the status of the shipment, and when it arrived in Honolulu he went out of his way to make sure he forwarded it to Kauai promptly. I am a local piano teacher in Honolulu. I purchased a beautiful piano for myself from Piano Planet as well as few of my students. All the reviews on here talk about George. I feel horrible for not knowing who he is but when I walked in Piano Planet I was greeted by a younger Caucasian woman that was very courteous, something that I was NOT expecting! All the other times I used to go into Piano Outlet in Pearl City they'd ignore me so I got used to that. Anyway, I was shopping for a digital keyboard so i could play at night. I needed the keys to be weighted, be able to record, have different sounds, and have escapement. She took the time to show me all their many selections and left me alone to test them all. Yes, play ALL of them! After playing all the electronic keyboards I felt that I was on a roll so I did what every piano store dreads: I started down the line and played every single piano I could get my hands on, ending with the Steinway Concert Grand in the middle of the showroom. After I got the playing bug out of me it was time to put my money where my fingers touched. I bought a Roland with all the features I wanted for a couple grand. I was delighted at her open invitation to stop by anytime and play the Steinway(since I cannot afford one). Piano Planet is very piano-player friendly!! I am still very impressed that they didn't stop me from testing out their pianos. I appreciate that I wasn't looked down upon(since many wouldn't guess I play piano based on the way I look). Lastly, the knowledge the employees have of their products was just what I needed. I love my new keyboard and love that I can play at night! :) read more

I purchased my very first digital piano from Keith, after being sent additional e-mail links to do my own research on the type of piano I was considering. The only reason I can't give this review a full five stars is because I haven't actually purchased anything from them. I visited George about a year ago and told him I was in the market for a piano in the future. At the time, I made sure to stress to him that I was just browsing. He was very patient and showed me almost every single piano he had in his showroom since I couldn't decide between a real one or one of those really convincing electric ones (with weighted keys even). He's so nice and followed up a couple days later. Anyway, that really stuck with me since I'm huge on customer service. So, finally a year later I'm serious about purchasing and can start piano-shopping for real this time. Of course, I remembered Piano Planet. And it also helped that they were having this huge sale. Plus your purchase comes with free delivery and free tuning about a month later so the piano has time to 'settle' in its new environment. Needless to say, I got a great piano from them and would recommend George and his store. read more
