Grant did a great job! We received an old piano and wasn't sure if it was even worth salvaging…read more Grant gave us his honest opinion and told us what needed to be done. He was able to get the piano tuned and functioning well. He was punctual and went right to work. No waste time with too much talk story, which I appreciated because I have many other things to get done today too. Grant was also timely in responding to my messages and text messages. And ... he travelled to the West Side when all others refused to do. The others only supported in town ... SO appreciative that Grant was willing to come West Side to work on a piano for my youngest. Highly recommend Tomo's Piano Service! Mahalo Nui Loa! Almost forgot .. very reasonable pricing from what I was given by other places! :)

TLDR: Grant is very unprofessional and doesn't know how to handle business. Zero communication…read more Blocked my contact. Hung up the phone when calling from another line. ------ In September, Grant was hired to tune our piano. Per his recommendation, we hired him to install dehumidifier rods. However, I changed my mind about the installation, so he returned to remove it. He was still paid for his time because he gave me a partial refund. He didn't express anything at the time and he was partially paid, so I thought we were in good terms. In December, I texted him a question in regards to tuning, with the intention of hiring him to tune the piano again. We had a special pianist scheduled in January. I didn't get any response, so I followed up a few days later. Again, no response. Comes January and I texted him about re-installing the dehumidifer rod. However, I noticed my text didn't show as "Delivered". I tried calling him the next morning, and it went to straight to voicemail. Out of curiosity, I called him with another phone, which he answered. Upon introducing myself to him, he said "I'm not available right now. Sorry." And, he immediately hung up. Honestly, I have no idea what I could've possibly said or done to hurt his feelings. Maybe, he thought I was not an "easy client" for changing my mind on the dehumidifer rod. Either way, it doesn't change the fact that Grant is not professional at all when it comes to dealing with clients. He will literally block you and even hang up on you when you confront him. Just be aware when hiring him. Don't expect a long lasting business relationship as he can suddenly cut you out for hurting his feelings. Hawaii is a very small community. I hate to leave a bad review as everyone knows everyone. I have no intention to hurt people's businesses. But, I can't resolve anything with Grant since he wouldn't explain to me anything and completely blocked me off. So, I'm just here to warn others. Don't get me wrong, Grant did an excellent job tuning. He knows his craft. He just doesn't know how to deal with clients, which is crucial in running a business.

My parents and I were moving out of a three bedroom house into a much smaller two-bedroom apartment…read more(with accompanying storage rooms) and wanted to keep our piano. We found Hawaii Piano and Household Moving and asked them for a quote, which they gave us. They were able to accommodate us for the date that we requested, which was a huge plus. On moving day, the four movers showed up on time and were ready to help us move everything into their HUGE truck. We had a lot of things to move and it took the movers around 4-5 hours to get everything into the truck. The moving company provides protective coverings for all furniture so we didn't have to worry about scratches. After we bought lunch for everyone (this is not required, we just thought it would be nice :) ), we were ready to head to the new place. The truck (with all of the movers and our things) drove behind me to the new place. Note: the truck is VERY slow at accelerating when it is filled so I had to take it slow at green lights and turns. Luckily, I didn't lose the truck at any intersections. When we got to the new place, the movers started to unload our things immediately. Moving into the apartment took somewhere between 1-2 hours but it took around 3-4 hours to bring all of our boxes into our storage rooms. This was actually a reasonable time frame because we had literally hundreds of boxes (probably 300+), ranging from 3 pounds to 50+ pounds, to put in there. Boxes were stacked to the ceiling in the storage rooms and everyone was tired after a long day's work. In total, the move took around 11 hours (9AM-9PM minus an hour for lunch). It was a good thing my parents and I helped move practically the entire time or it would have taken at least a few more hours. We also provided cold water when the movers were running low on it (common courtesy in hot weather). We were satisfied with the professionalism of all of the movers, the sheer capacity of the moving truck, the rate that they charged, and the fact that all of our belongings got to the new place unscathed.

Person answering said the owner will get back to me. No call back. Called three more times with the same result. Just left a complaint with BBB and left it at that. This was many years ago, but obviously still bothers me.
