She is also very structured and uses sight and music games to assist in their learning. She is so observant that she can increase each child's optimal playing level in 30 minutes, although we now have the girls do one hour classes, and they are fine in them. The concept is to expose your little one to music through spending 45 minutes singing, dancing and moving with your child and other families. The teachers lead the class through singing and encouraging parents to do the same. Even the worse singer...hahaha...me sounds good when blending your voice with a great lead. Christina quickly makes the group comfortable through singing the hello song and then switching song to song mixed in with movements with filmy scarves, instruments in bags, and lively dancing. The class is definitely upbeat and songs are very easy to learn. Even if you cannot carry a tune the class is a great way to start the morning and just sing! It is AMAZING. Whether you have infants or older toddlers, this class is like no other- the teachers are upbeat, engaging and passionate, and put so much thought into each semester, which is called a different instrument (so cute!) Along with a songbook, you also get a CD (my daughter loved this during car rides as well as at home), and honestly the songs are probably the best I've heard for kids (they're similar to the Laurie Berkner Band, where they encourage movement, following direction and acting things out along with the music which is awesome for toddlers!) We are Music Together's biggest fans- we continued with their Zoom classes while quarantined (so thankful that they continued), and even without all the class perks of instruments, scarves, parachutes, fairy lights, etc. my daughter was glued to Zoom the whole session. Living in Kaneohe, the location is one of the reasons I decided to try it out. It is located right across the street from Windward Mall, lots of parking, very convenient. Both my daughters have taken classes at Music for You. My youngest has participated since 18 months. I really helped with her speech development, confidence and also learning to sit in a circle and interacting with a group. We love the songs that we learn at class, and sing them often. My preschooler participated in Music For You in summer 2011. She was able to learn a variety of songs and thoroughly enjoyed all of the fun activities. For my preschooler, I think it helped to improve/ develop her listening skills as well as her ability to concentrate and follow directions in a group setting. As a parent, I love that I don't need to participate in the preschool class. Parent participation in the toddler class is required, but I enjoyed it. I am not a dancer, so I was VERY relieved that "movement" activities are kept at a minimum... YIPEE!! Deb, the owner, is seriously the nicest and sweetest person ever. She is so caring and concerned about the kids. You can truly tell that she loves what she does and this is definitely her calling. she is a mother too, and I really feel like that makes a HUGE difference. Deb has wonderful control of her class, they run smoothly and effectively, making great use of the class time.
