Thomas at S&S Auto went above and beyond for me today. I had an issue with my car looked at during my oil change they could not personally fix so he referred me to Collins Muffler & Hitch 5 mins away. He said their shop works with them often and he trusts them. He volunteered to call them on my behalf and explain the issue with my car for me!! I was super grateful for that as I feeling overwhelmed how I was going to relay the information myself. When I got to Collins Muffler, they knew exactly what to look for and looked at it right away without me having to explain a thing. Perfect teamwork between the 2 businesses! As a bonus and highlight, one on the mechanics' puppy was brought into the waiting room for me to play with a very cuddly puppy while I waited!! It was me and another customer in there dropping off their car. When the other customer left, Thomas brought out the puppy from a back room since it was a slow period in between appointments and I opted to wait for my oil change. The office was very clean with nice tea, coffee, TV, candy bowl and a restroom and the oil change only took about 30-45 minutes. I am so glad I have S & S doing the maintenance for my Toyota Prius C, a model that was not sold in the U.S. any more. Having a not-so-popular car, there are issues that not many mechanics want to deal with, I assume. With their maintenance, I think I have avoided all the unnecessary trouble. I made an appointment to get my car serviced and opted to have my oil changed somewhere else but do everything else with them, so he said no worries and said he'd send me a quote, i never got a quote but I got a text confirmation THE DAY BEFORE APPT so I drive all the way to the appointment and inquire about the quote since i never received anything and he said he cancelled the appointment??? This is a family owned small business. I've been going here for a few years for maintenance, and they even did an engine replacement for me on one of my vehicles. I appreciate the what feels like honest straight forward communication. I get the problem isolated and explained along with the solution(s) suggestions. The shop isn't the cheapest but trust worthy and they stand behind the work. I have seen the 3 year warranty sign on the front desk. I personally have never had to use that warranty. I've heard you get 2 out of 3 things in business transactions: time, quality, or price. These guys fall in the medium for time and price and high quality in my opinion. I appreciate this shop and the team that works here. They don't throw parts at my problem and hope to fix it. I usually get a diagnostic of the issue right the first time. My husband and I took our 1999 dodge ram van here to fix our fuel pump , & battery . Besides doing an amazing job they also noticed we needed an oil change , colent and washer fluid and they changed them free of charge . My husband and I struggled financially this year and we just got back on our feet a month ago and we saved every penny to be able to get our home on wheels to work again . We waited 6 months to be able to get it fixed so this meant more then just getting some parts fixed and them then doing those extra things for us free of charge left us speechless they did it I'm sure because they value our service and wanted to give back but to us if felt like we actually got lucky with something for once . When you're so use to your life being negative for a long time when something so kind like this happens it can't help but bring a smile. This isn't your average mechanic review but I wanted to share what type of people work at S& S Auto extremely kind hard working people who help us get our life back on the road . My Hyundai Sonata had 2 signals on dashboard. After Midas told me there are multiple things to fix, I brought my car to this shop to check out. Tom spent time and adjusted a few things including the sensors, and the car was up and running normally again. We ended up trading the car in for a Tesla Y in late March with no problem. Thanks Tom! Another A/C mechanic told me the same thing. *** I just walked into S & S Auto Service. I had never been there before. They put my car on their lift, poked around for 2 minutes and fixed the issue --- FOR FREE!!! ***. They saved me hundreds of dollars. Based on the issues my car was having, the dealer and the A/C mechanic agreed on the problem (clogged A/C evaporator drain). They both had to have known how simple the fix was. We have been to S&S a few times now. I stumbled across them on the Car Max approved service list. Even though I pass so many shops on the 20 minute drive, they are worth the drive. I take my Audi there and will only use them moving forward. They are honest, hard working, communicative, responsive and kind. Today, they helped me navigate warranty related things when Car Max was no help. I had my first experience with this shop and the last. The work ordered took three weeks out due to part not being available. Someone named Brian was my only contact. Brian gave me a ride home while they kept the car to diagnose it. In the 20 minute ride, Brian felt the need to engage in a political conversation and wanted to let me know he was a Trumper, which I found odd and offensive at best. Brian also added stress throughout claiming I needed to clean my car better, but admitted to me that since I was not a military person, he did not expect me to know what 'clean' meant. This was not only rude, but inappropriate. I guess I could have demanded to see the mechanic's Covid proof that he had 3 shots before getting in my vehicle! I did not. The owner needs to fire this dude, especially since Brian revealed to me that he is on 100% disability. Just moved from Oceanside and stopEd by for a quick motor mount check. Asked Brain to take a 2 minute look at the motor vibrating. Vehicle was 20 feet away from the front of his office. No way Brain would take 2 minutes while I started the engine. All he kept saying was I needed to make an appointment which I would have if he had 2 minutes to look as a curiosity. Sitting in the office not busy. Very concerning as to no customer help. S&S may have lost a potential 2000 Malibu customer that gets scheduled maintenance. Brought my 2016 corvette to S+S for an oil change and service and was impressed with them. Several months later I had an incident where car ran very rough and was misfiring. Brought it back to S+S immediately. They downloaded the codes which were over 7 pages. They expertly diagnosed the issues, removed the intake manifold and cleaned the back of the intake valves of carbon buildup, replaced one exhaust valve spring (luckily no piston damage) and replaced one bad fuel injector. Prices were reasonable and the work was done in about 2 1/2 days. The car now idles better than it ever has. I'm bringing them my wife's car for brakes and rotors next week. Bob Hatch read more

Very poor customer service from Thomas. I went there to get a full inspection on a vehicle I purchased from Arizona, was first told they did not have time to do a full inspection but within minutes told me the car had been in a flood, ended up getting a second opinion and was told the car ran perfect, engine sounds great as well and not sure who and why I was told that. Assume he was referencing the Arizona sand that I had power washed off the car. In the future Just say you don't have time to inspect, don't give me a false detailed report and ramble off a bunch of bullshit information. Keep looking, this place seems to only specialize in oil changes and tire rotations. I suggest going elsewhere. read more
