I cannot caution people enough about this company and the owner, Jack Sheehan. We had a contract…read morewith him to renovate a house and as the agreed deadline drew near and he realized he wasn't going to meet it, he disappeared. He was also becoming more and more argumentative as time went on and my husband and I asked any question or tried to address any concern with the house. We couldn't get him to respond to calls, emails, etc. Once my husband and I were forced to take the job over ourselves, we realized why he walked away. There were several costly mistakes that needed to be corrected. One of the issues is that Jack did not use professionals for all of his work, so to try and save himself money, he neglected to hire a professional floor installer and attempted to do the work himself. He installed the floors the very day they were delivered, not allowing the wood to acclimate to the climate, he laid the boards end to end without allowing space for the wood to "breathe", and he neglected to use a vapor barrier in the basement crawlspace to defend against humidity. Due to the extreme buckling and separating, we had to pay for all new flooring to be installed by a professional. Jack had already walked away from the job at this point and even though we tried to reach out to him, he never returned our calls. There is a long laundry list of things that were done incorrectly; measurements that were off, permits not pulled, decking was left with no rails or railing, no platform to support the porch steps, stain work had to be reapplied, interior stairs left with no rails or balusters so we had to pay twice for those, crack in our foundation that he admitted to us early on that he had caused, shutters were not put up, items that were not built according to specs, etc. Again, he never returned our calls. Jack didn't even let us know who he had working on our house so that when he abandoned the project, we could at least call them ourselves to finish the job. He left us completely in the dark, and that point, over budget. Anytime we tried to express our concerns while he was still working on the project, Jack would insult us. No homeowner should have to deal with this type of bullying from someone who is being paid on time, and someone with whom you have a signed contract. Be careful who you hire. There are contractors out there who will agree to terms only to change them on you once you are too far in to turn back.
