He…read morewas hired by my General as a subcontractor to do plumbing work on business, and unfortunately I didn't find out what he is until too late. He is NOT licensed and has no idea about commercial codes. He wasn't even aware - as a plumber - that Onondaga county requires separate plumbing, plans, inspections all done by a licensed plumber. Because of this, when it came time to open my business, we were informed that we didn't have everything we needed for our certificate of occupancy. It took another 8 months after opening to get everything fully mitigated in no small part because this individual came once a week, if we were lucky. Eventually, my General fired him because he was incompetent to complete the plumbing work to code. What had taken him 7 months to unsuccessfully do, a licensed plumber was able to complete in under 2 weeks. Unfortunately, in order to get everything done I had to make compromises, or my walls would have need to be torn open again, thus taking even longer. As you can see from the attached picture, the ugly PVC pipe should be fully enclosed in the walls. It's not what I paid for, but I felt bad for my General. The extra costs of this has jeopardized his solvency. It could have done the same to me, if the county had decided to shut me down rather than allow me to mitigate. For all you General Contractors, you would be well advised to steer clear. I know for a fact, my General had to pay in excess of $20K due to professional malfeasance of Jim Pollack. Feel free to reach out to me and I can tell you more as well as put you in contact with the licensed plumber who eventually finished the job. For residential individuals, if the timeline that he followed for my business project of 8 months late is OK with you, then by all means. I wouldn't hire him clean my toilet, let alone do any plumbing work. That said, I'm looking forward to the next time our paths cross.

Called, set up an appointment and the service repairman came . His name was Dean. He called before he was to arrive, he knew exactly how to fix the issue. He gave me a hint on removing the filter. Told me to make rabbit ears on the filter with duck tape. That way I can pull the filter out. I told him I was disappointed the installers did not show me how to remove the filter. After all, I really was not thrilled that I had to have a service call. The best part of this review is that there wasn't any charge, he gave me a pound of hummingbird coffee , a fabulous tip on removing the filter and we shook hands. Very thankful for the rabbit ear tip, everyone should learn this! Very pleased with Hummingbird, the service repairman Dean and my pound of coffee. But the best part... no charge. They…read moretried to scare me by saying that carbon monoxide leaking from my old furnace and need to replace right away. They shut off the furnace in the middle of winter and refused to turn it back on, saying that you don't want to see a big headline on the local newspaper. Of course, anything burning will emit CO and I have CO monitors nearby. Another company simply did maintenance on the furnace and said the furnace still works great.

Gary's response was something along the lines of "that guy is a little less expensive, and he's really good. I'm a little more expensive because I'm the best." If you're a home buyer, then you need Gary. He works for you and he takes his job very seriously. He is there to check every little thing in your house; every crack, every outlet, every window, every faucet, every corner, etc. Gary will give you a thorough run down of your investment and he will give you a fair, objective analysis. Keep in mind that it is a conflict of interest to hire your home inspector to do contracting work on your house within a certain time period. Because of this, I am not able to hire Gary to do the actual work that I need done. That is my only regret in my decision to hire Gary to do my latest home inspection. I wasn't aware of this law when I initially hired Gary so I wish I had hired him to do the larger projects instead. However, I am seriously considering delaying these projects until I'm able to call Gary to do the work. To put it simply, I have 100% total confidence and faith in Gary's work. I cannot recommend his services enough.

He pointed out that the detached garage needed major work (valid) and that he could tear it down and build a new one for 30 thousand. I was a little put off that a home inspector could/should be offering services. Note/ the garage was retrofitted a year later for 6,000 with No issue. He was thorough in the review, but rather rude to the owner, myself, and the real estate agent.
