Mercedes and the friendly team at S&M Expediting have helped me with at least five residential renovation jobs; they have always been super professional, reliable competent and helpful. they are especially helpful if unexpected things occur during the job - one time a new plumber filed his work as a totally separate project in the DOB system, another time an owner installed slightly different gas piping and some minor ventilation not shown on the drawings so it had to be thoroughly inspected and approved by DOB afterwards - when these 'surprises" occur S&M's years of experience will show. If you need to do "same day filing"; their team is just super helpful and nice. if you call the office, everyone is just amazingly nice and helpful. They can also read the drawings to see if the general notes are consistent with any subtle recent changes to DOB standards; this is helpful because seemingly minor deviations from the DOB's required drawing submission format can delay the job approval for 30 days. There are no guarantees with DOB process, but having a good expediter like S&M Expediting involved certainly helps a LOT. I get the impression expediting can be a thankless stressful task, pretty much all the aggravation and none of the fun of design and construction world; this nice group does a consistently competent job. I would not work S&M expediting again. Perhaps she is better with architects as you can see from the other reviews. However, she is awful working with the client directly. Mercedes would take days to weeks to respond to my questions and e-mails. It was slow process and she would not explain it to me. I ended up having to do alot of the work myself and I hird S&M so that I would not have to. I wish I had gone with another company because it was also costly. read more
