We went in today (March 2023) & expected accupressure. Other accupressure sessions I've had with other practitioners were very different than what we recieved today. As others mentioned, if you are interested in a DEEP tiisue massage, this is the best place!
Our visit started very quietly with a peaceful foot soak in lined tubs that were brought to us. Careful, the water is HOT! While we soaked, the accupressure began with a scalp massage. Not really a massage. More like scalp pressure with focus on the temples & top of head. Definitely a lot of pressure. We started to relax then they moved onto our feet. Kneeding & grinding boney fists into the bottom of our feet then moving to the ankles, which are also boney. Bone on bone creates pain not just therapeutic pressure. I couldn't hold out any longer. My leg involuntarily twitched a few times. She was slightly gentler with the opposite foot. Finally that concluded & we moved on to our respective beds & accupressure really began. The legs get squeezed which moved up to the back. I was relieved for a break from the pressure. The room was fairly cool so dropping cool massage oil onto my back was not a sensation I expected. More kneeding & a ton of pressure which morphed into knuckle grinding. Finally, that stopped. "What could be next", I wondered silently. A warm towel. I heard the door to the warmer open & close. I felt the warmth as it neared my back just before it scalded me. I wondered if my hour was up yet. Not yet. She moved up to my shoulders where many of us carry tension. "Perfect", I thought to myself, and hoped for some relaxation. Not so fast. There would be immeasurable pain with kneeding & grabbing that slowly turned into pinching. I've never had an accupressure appointment nor a deep tissue massage quite like this but I had to hold out for the health & possibly belated relaxation benefits, right? She moves onto my arms, kneeding & pulling each one, one at a time, fininshing each arm by pulling each finger. "No hand massage?" I thought to myself. "This is not that", I also thought to myself. The phone rings. I think whatever diety I can summon for a slight break. She answers the phone & hastily schedules an appointment. I try to keep in mind they both own & operate the establishment & that is likely how my appointment was scheduled. Just keep in mind patience. Back to pinching. This must be the grand finally. I see fireworks but my eyes are closed. No. They're squinted hard. My face is contorted as I lay face down & with a final "chop-chop-chop" across my back a few times, the session concludes. While the ambiance was good, I will mention it was cool but they do lay a thick blanket across you for both the foot accupressure as well as the follow up body work.
Both practitioners were very friendly, kind, & professional. Others have mentioned a possible language barrier which I can also attest to. My husband bought us gift cards & explained what service(s) he'd like. I called to schedule our appointments & explained the services we'd like. We agreed upon a price which would have been covered by the gift card & left a little which I intnded to donate back in addition to a tip. When we checked out, there was a remaining balance owed & I still needed to leave a tip. Needless to say, I was out an additional $40 on top of the $105 gift card. We bought 2 gift cards. One will be donated to the Wild Game Feed. If you're the lucky one, you too may get to experience all that S & H has to offer! read more
